AVAO City Police Office (DCPO) director senior superintendent Ronald dela Rosa said mayor-elect Rodrigo R. Duterte’s idea of shortening the liquor ban ordinance from 2 a.m. to 12 a.m. would be an advantage to the policemen of the city.
In Monday’s Kapehan sa Dabaw at SM Annex, Ecoland, “an earlier liquor ban would be more favorable to us (policemen) since it would mean that there will be a decrease in crime rate for two more hours.” Task Force Davao (TFD) commander Col. Casiano

Monilla was also in favor for the proposed earlier liquor ban, but said, it wouldn’t affect them that much since their job requires them to be on watch 24 hours a day. He said, drinking liquor is imbedded in the culture of the people, and even if there is an earlier liquor ban, people who love to drink will still look for another area away from the bars where TFD and police officers are usually stationed. Meanwhile, Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (DCCCII) executive director Mary Anne Abundo said they are thinking of conducting a survey regarding this proposed earlier liquor ban. She said that they would be greatly affected since, “many members are owners of bars, resorts, hotels and tourism establishments that offers liquor.” Edge Davao editor-in-chief, Antonio M. Ajero,
