OCAL members of the Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) party-list group yesterday asked for the resignation of lady lawyer Aimee Ferolino-Ampoloquio, as election officer of Davao City’s first legislative district , following her insulting remarks about the teachers in a radio interview. Ampoloquio reportedly said that teachers were “kalimtanon ug bulok” (forgetful and stupid) during an interview with 783 Radyo ni Juan, an FM radio station in Davao City, Bearing placards denouncing the election officer’s statement, some 30 members of ACT staged a rally outside the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office at Magsaysay Park yesterday afternoon asking for Ampoloquio’s resignation. However, Ampoloquio remained unfazed and refused to heed to the call of the militant grouo. In a television interview, she said she will not make any

COMPOSTELA VALLEY • The entire province of Compostela Valley is placed under area of concern due to presence of “lawless elements” particularly New People’s Army (NPA) but government officials said that preparations had been in place to counter and preempt possible disruption of the elections.
