OME election day on May 13, members of Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) in Davao City are expected to vote for re-electionist representatives Karlo Nograles, Mylene Garcia and Isidro Ungab in the first, second and third district, respectively. The INC central leadership based in Manila reportedly invited the three to the INC Ministry along Malvar Street, together with other local candidates for
positions from mayor down to councilor. Reliable sources told this writer that those who were invited to the ministry were “anointed” as candidates of the big religious group. Also invited were candidates in the Island Garden City of Samal (IGaCoS). IN THE REGION: Commission on Elections (Comelec) regional director Wilfredo Jay Balisado bared that the sealing and testing resulted to 95 percent preparedness of the PCOS (Precinct-Count Optical Scanner) machines for the May 13, 2013 elections. Only 5 percent of the machines in Davao region malfunctioned. DAVAO CITY: Comelec 11 confirmed that in Davao City there were no reported damages in PCOS machines. “In Davao City, we are ready for the elections, all systems go na tayo,” RD Wilfredo Jay Balisado said. DAVAO ORIENTAL: PCOS machines in 27 polling centers in the hinterlands of the province’s second district were tested and sealed. No reported damage on PCOS machines. Other parts of Davao Oriental were also tested and sealed by the representatives of every Municipal Election Monitoring Action Centers and likewise there were no reported damaged on the PCOS machines. COMPOSTELA VALLEY: Emm Obinieta, information officer of Compostela town in Compostela Valley Province, told Edge Davao that PCOS testing and sealing was completed in the province yesterday. There were 56 PCOS machines tested in 56 precincts and there were no defective PCOS machines reported. In New Bataan, Compostela Valley, Comelec and the Department of Education (DepEd) successfully conducted the final testing and sealing of PCOS machine at Cabinuangan Central Elementary School. DAVAO DEL NORTE: One of the 12 PCOS machines put to final testing and sealing in Sto. Nino Central Elementary School in Talaingod was found defective. The Comelec assured it will take actions to address concerns especially on the malfunctioning of the PCOS machines before the May 13 elections.
