TOTAL of 2,217 motorists have been arrested since Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte’s executive order No. 39 against overspeeding and reckless driving in Davao City last October, 2013. This was bared by Land Transportation Office (LTO) 11 Assistant Regional Director Macario “Bong” D. Gonzaga during yesterday’s Kapehan sa Dabaw at SM Matina. Gonzaga said the apprehensions were done from the time E.O. 39 was implemented three months ago, up to last February 7. “So far, we have observed the gradual dwin-
dling of the number of traffic accidents in the city following the implementation of the speed limit,” the LTO official said. A the same time, Gonzaga said that all commemorative plate numbers, whoever are using them, are now illegal and that the LTO and its deputized agencies have started making arrests. “We appeal to officials and employees of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Philippine National Police, other government agencies, especially law enforcement units, to remove the commemorative plates now, because
