OLICE authorities are 100-percent confident that they can secure Dabawenyos against all kinds of threat during the observance of All Saints’ Day and All S o u l s ’ D a y, Nov.1 and 2. This, despite the short interval between last Monday’s barangay election and the Halloween sea-
son, both considered as “security nightmares” in police lingo. To achieve this, some 1,000 members of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) and Task Force Davao will be deployed starting today, two days before All Saints Day, according to DCPO director Supt. tain order during the Halloween are the same guys who provided security during the barangay election),” Danao said. The new DCPO chief said police visibility is important to prevent crimes and other atrocities, including terrorism, so that Dabawenyos can perform their traditional Halloween activities free from fear and anxiety. He said some people visit their dead one to two days earlier to avoid the usual hassle, he said.
Danao said all city entry points including key transportation facilities such as seaports, airports and bus terminals will be secured too. Chief Inspector Alfredo Baluran, head of the DCPO Operations and Plan Branch, said they will implement strictly the bans against the bringing of knives, bolos and other bladed weapons, alcoholic drinks, firearms, cigarettes and sound system inside the cemeteries. “Niadto, kasaga-
