HE controversy surrounding the alleged “looting” by militants Tuesday at the Department of Social Welfare Department 11 office of relief goods intended for victims of Typhoon “Crising” in Davao del Norte appeared to have simmered down after both protagonists, militants and government, agreed to settle the bone of contention of the conflict -- the demand of the militants for the DSWD to release 10,000 sacks of rice to them.

After a closed door meeting yesterday afternoon, the militants agreed to disperse and be transported home with 100 sacks of rice as “pabaon” from the DSWD. The happy compromise is as follows: DSWD will release the 10,000 sacks demanded by the militants, while the militants will submit the list of authentic beneficiaries demanded by the DSWD.
