EPARTMENT of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Corazon “Dinky” Soliman said no amount of protest will make her resign and force her to release the 10,000 sacks of rice to Pablo survivors in the absence of a master list of would-be recipients. “I serve only at the pleasure of the President.” That was her reaction to a question during the Task Force Pablo briefing at the provincial capitol of Nabunturan, ComVal Friday, when asked about the demand of the movement Barug Katawhan for her resignation.Regarding the release of the 10,000 sacks of rice, she said, DSWD will not release them until Barug Katawhan complies with

ANILA Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle is in the short list of ‘papabile’ or pope-able cardinals. An Asian Catholic online news website has reported that if elected by the College of Cardinals, the 55-year old Tagle could be the youngest pope in centuries. News of Tagle being in the short list of 12 papabile was reported by independent Catholic News website www.ucanews.com.
The papacy is to be vacated on February 28 when Pope Benedict XVI’s resignation takes effect. He is the first Pope to resign in 600 years. The ucanews report mentioned Tagle as the best candidate from Asia. The report said: “Asia is a small but potent source of growth and strength for the Catholic Church.
