he envisioned Mindanao Railway system will operate a high-speed train with an average speed of 200 kilometers per hour. Mindanao Development Authority executive deputy director Romeo Montenegro said the speed is based on the technology adopted for the railway. He said high-speed train is just one of several types of trains. In long distance travel, high-speed railway is more
viable than a customary train which is usually found in cities or within the metro. “Generally, high speed rail runs at speeds above 200 km/h (120 mph) operating on dedicated track specially constructed to accommodate high speed travel,” Montenegro said the gov-
ernment funded the �irst segment of the project through the 2018 budget of P35.257 billion covering 102 kilometers will comprise eight stations, namely: Tagum; Carmen; Panabo; Mudiang (in Bunawan, Davao City); Davao Terminal; Toril; Sta.
