City Hall bars protest groups from Rizal Park By Angie Saveron

ilitant groups and protestors failed to conduct their rally at the Rizal Park on Thursday as part of the ‘national day of protest’ after Davao City Mayor Sara thumbed down their request for a permit. “But they were allowed to conduct their mass rally in Freedom Park and People’s Park,” said Davao City Police City Director Alexander Tagum. He said the city mayor has rejected the militants’ request for a permit because Rizal Park is

the center of the city government in Davao City. The 10 identified crucial entry point going to Rizal park were barricaded and guarded by security forces. Tagum said that they are expecting 300 to 1000 protestors and he assured that the security forces are ready for any untoward incident during the mass rally. “We should respect the rule of law kung gusto nato mahimong peaceful and orderly ang atong panginabuhi diri sa Davao,” said Tagum. The Davao City Police
