Bishop’s take on drug campaign elates DCPO

By ARMANDO B. FENEQUITO JR.

T

he Davao City Police Ofice has expressed elation over the advice issued by Davao Archbishop Romulo Valles for the public not to condemn the police in their war against illegal drugs. Valles, the incoming president of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines, advised that the public instead should inspire the police “to perform their duty according to law.”

DCPO spokesperson Sr. Insp. Maria Teresita Gaspan said the statement of Valles is a big motivation for them to do their job well. “We are very thankful with the support of the church for our campaign,” Gaspan said. Gaspan admitted the campaign against illegal drugs is dificult to implement, an assessment shared by other law enforcement agencies handling the anti-illegal drugs campaign. BISHOPS, P10
