The on-going is based on memorandum circular issued by Secretary Arthur Tugade of Department of Transportation. “Actually we have oficers

in all terminals who are checking all units, said Neil Cañedo, assistant regional director of the LTO XI. “We are inspecting the buses before they are being dispatched. We check their documents and we see to it that they are road worthy,”said Teresita D.P. Yñiguez, regional director of LTFRB. The inspection is also being conducted to ensure safe travel in line with the the Oplan Ligtas Byahe Undas 2017. Bus drivers have been reminded to be careful in driving and their speed should be within the speed limit.

As of November 1, Wednesday, the inspection teams recorded no violations committed by 100 bus drivers inside the terminal. Bus units are required to undergo one inspection each. Passenger vans are covered by the inspection. . “If we see any violations we will not permit the bus to travel, we will tell them to return to their garage to ix busted lights or change worn tires among several issues,” said Cañedo. LTFRB issues stickers that will indicate that the unit has been inspected and is safe for

travel. “The bus should have the orange sticker it implies that the unit has been inspected and it is a road worthy,” he said. They allow the drivers to travel given that the issues of the unit are ixed. “We understand the drivers are looking for income so our efforts are corrective,” said Cañedo. Meanwhile, the LTO has impounded several colorum buses and two passenger vans along Tulip drive on November 1 as part of its drive against buses and vans operating without permits.
