oday, 40 families comprised of 100 individuals will have to evacuate the landslide prone area in Barangay Langub fronting the old dumpsite in Diversion Road due to a 400-meter long crack along a slope inside the Seventh Day Adventist property that is feared to give way any moment now. In addition, seven families were moved out from the slope of Shrine Hills in order to prevent possible casualties. Today’s evacuation is facilitated by the City Social Services and Development Of�ice and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Of�ice. The Barangay of�icials
of Matina Pangi, Barangay Matina Crossing and Baranggay Langub will also be on hand to help evacuate the people. “The cracks on the slopes may give way any time from now based on the observations we had with Mines and Geosciences Bureau,” said Rodrigo Bustillo, operation warning of�icer of the CDRRMO during the during the I-speak media forum on Thrusday. The families will be brought to the evacuation center in Los Amigos Tugbok. The evacuation area can accommodate 1000 individuals and is equipped with amenities which will provide comfort to the people.
“The evacuation area is designed to accommodate a lot of people in case of an incident of big magnitude of untoward incident,” said Bustillo. Bustillo said some of the families refused to vacate but were convinced it would be to their safety. The affected families were given time to collect their properties and valuables.
