he Philippine Army in the Davao and Cotabato regions will soon be beefed up by more than 300 recruits from the various indigenous peoples as part of the government’s security force, 10th Infantry Division spokesperson Capt. Ryan Batchar said on Wednesday. Batchar told the AFP-PNP press conference at the Royal Mandaya Hotel that the new-

ly-recruited soldiers �illed up a quota assigned by the Armed Forces of the Philippines to the 10th ID’s area of responsibility. The new recruits will undergo three months basic military course and three months jungle warfare training beginning this October. “ A total of 450 ang mag sabay ng training, 300 gikan sa IP and 150 sa mga regular

This initiative is the brainchild of Major General Eduardo M Año when he was commander of the army division. The IPs were recruited from the area of responsibility of

the 10 ID, to include the Davao Region, South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Saranggani and General Santos City. The recruited IPs are currently in Panacan waiting for their �inal listing. “They will undergo the same training that the regular soldiers are undergoing,” said Batchar, adding IPs wanted
