Mayor Duterte leads parade, gift-giving, lunch treat in colorful ‘Araw’ celebration

grateful Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio spearheaded the distribution of food packs to Dabawenyos in the “Libreng Kumbira sa Araw ng Davao” thanksgiving ‘feast-ival’ on Saturday noon at the C.M. Recto Street, Davao City. Fresh from leading the Parada Davaoeño with her Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) senatorial slate, Mayor Duterte went straight to the assembled

were roasted calf (lechon baka), fried chicken and rice while the gift bags contained canned goods like corned beef and luncheon meet. A total of 50 lechon baka were roasted for the feast. Mayor Duterte braved the scorching heat and personally handed each food packs with a joyful “Happy Araw ng Davao” greeting

to all Dabawenyos who endured long queues for the gift from the City Government of Davao. Revelers came in by batch while the security enforcers maintained the order. The distribution lasted for more than an hour as it began at exactly 12:00nn and ended at past 1:00pm. Earlier, the presidential

Magnitude 5.5 quake jolts Davao Occidental

A

magnitude 5.5 earthquake struck 24 kilometers north of Don Marcelino town in Davao Occidental 7:07AM Saturday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

The temblor had a depth of 97 kilometers and was tectonic in origin, Phivolcs said. Intensity V was felt in Alabel in Sarangani, General Santos City and Koronadal City.
