olice Regional Of�ice 11 Director Marcelo C. Morales said he favors the legalization of marijuana for medical purposes, but maintains his personal apprehension that some people will take advantage of it.
Police Chief Supt. Morales told media on Friday during the National Day of Remembrance for the fallen Special Action Force 44 (SAF44) of�icers at the Police Regional Of�ice in Catitipan that he has not yet read House Bill 6517 or the Philippine Compassionate
Medical Cannabis Act, which is pending before House of Representatives. However, he is worried that people might avail it without medical prescription issued by doctors. “I’m sure the lawmakers will study the proposal so that there won’t be indis-
criminate usage,” Morales. The bill, authored by Isabela Representative Rodolfo Albano III, is now on its second reading. It aims to legalize and regulate the medical use of marijuana or cannabis, for treatment of chronic or debilitating medical conditions such as arthritis, epilepsy and multiple sclerosis, among others. ome areas in Davao Region were flooded on Saturday due to heavy rainfall caused by the tailend of the cold front. Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) 11 Information Officer Leslie Francisco said flooding was reported in barangays of 1-A to 9-A in Tigatto and flood-prone Jade Valley
due to the rise of the water level of Davao River. Francisco said the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Center immediately implemented forced evacuation before the river could reach the code red level and pose severe danger to the community in these areas. Aside from the flood, a
