Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. was founded January 16, 1920, at Howard University, Washington, D.C.
Five coeds envisioned a sorority which would directly affect positive change, chart a course of action for the 1920s and beyond, raise consciousness of their people, encourage the highest standards of scholastic achievement, and foster a greater sense of unity among its members. These women believed that sorority elitism and socializing overshadowed the real mission for progressive organizations and failed to address fully the societal mores, ills, prejudices, and poverty affecting humanity in general and the black community in particular.
Since its inception, Zeta has continued its steady climb into the national spotlight with programs designed to demonstrate concern for the human condition both nationally and internationally.
The organization has been innovative in that it has chronicled a number of firsts. It was the first National Pan-Hellenic Council organization to centralize its operations in a national headquarters, first to charter a chapter in Africa, first to form auxiliary groups, and first to be constitutionally bound to a fraternity, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. The sorority takes pride in its continued participation in transforming communities through volunteer services from members and its auxiliaries. Zeta Phi Beta has chartered hundreds of chapters worldwide and has a membership of 100,000+.
Delta Epsilon Zeta Chapter received its charter in West Palm Beach, Florida on June 1, 1949.
Its charter members are Anne H. Brewer, Elizabeth StubbsMunnings, Gertrude Eutsay, Janie Coleman Miles, and PanchettaHarrison.
Proverbs 31: 10-31
10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies….
26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness...
30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.
31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

Greetings, it is with immense pride and joy that I welcome you to our annual scholarship luncheon. This year, we gather under the powerful theme: “empowering dreams and honoring excellence.” These words are more than just a theme they are a reflection of our purpose, our passion, and the legacy we continue to build. As we come together today, we celebrate the excellence of those who have paved the way and the promise of those who are just beginning their journeys. We are here to honor academic achievement, recognize leadership, and most importantly, to invest in the dreams of tomorrow’s scholars. Our luncheon is a testament to the power of unity and shared vision. It is a reminder that when women of purpose and passion unite, we can move mountains and create real, lasting change in our communities. The scholars we support today are the leaders, innovators, and change-makers of tomorrow and it is our honor to walk beside them. As we celebrate together today, may we be reminded of the power of education, the beauty of excellence, and the joy that comes from empowering others. Thank you for being part of this meaningful celebration.

Edwards is an award-winning educator and visionary leader dedicated to empowering students through technology and esports. As the 2024 K–12 Scholastic Esports Coach of the Year, he leads Palm Beach Lakes High School’s Esports Academy, preparing students for success in both higher education and the digital workforce.
Through his leadership, Julius has dramatically increased student engagement, creating safe, inclusive spaces where students especially those who may not typically participate in extracurricular activities can connect, thrive, and discover new opportunities. By seamlessly integrating STEM and esports, he ensures students are not only immersed in gaming but are also introduced to career pathways in broadcasting, graphic design, cyber security, engineering, and digital content creation.
Julius is the Vice President of SSEL (Sunshine State Esports League) and a 2025 FETC Featured Speaker, where he shares insights on building inclusive, future-ready learning environments. He was named a 2023 Full Sail University
Extraordinary Educator and serves as a NASEF Scholastic Esports Mentor, supporting educators nationwide in integrating esports into purposeful instruction. He is also a proud member of Leadership Florida Education Class 8, a network of changemakers dedicated to transforming education in Florida. Furthermore, he is the CEO of Infusing Education and Consulting, LLC and a founding member of L.I.T.E.S. (Literacy Infused Technology Educational Support, INC), a nonprofit focused on bridging literacy and technology in underserved communities.
Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Palm Beach County is a nonprofit organization improving birth outcomes through the compassionate delivery of early prenatal care, education, and support for all pregnant women across our communities.
Our Mission
We are here to nurture healthy births and families by meeting the physical, emotional, economic, and social challenges of pregnancy and infant wellness.
Our Vision
Our goal is to see all pregnant women receive early prenatal care, education, and support to improve healthy birth outcomes and bridge the gap for families who need us.
Our History
In 1985, Palm Beach County experienced a tragic increase in poor birth outcomes from a lack of available prenatal care. In response, a concerned community under the leadership of Dr. Carl Brumback, Dr. Marsha J. Fishbane, and Dr. David W. Martin established our agency to ensure any woman who needed early affordable care during her
pregnancy could get it. Begun as a volunteer-driven agency, HMHB grew through the decades to now boast 67 professionals on staff serving more than 10,000 expectant women each year. In 2021, we refreshed our look, vision, and voice, but one thing will never change: our commitment to healthy births.
Our Future
Our current five-year strategic plan is our roadmap to success. The plan focuses on three core goals in the areas of programming, fundraising and operations. The strategic plan is our agency’s living document, intended to be reassessed and modified when necessary, in order to respond to the needs of our community. We invite you to join us on this journey and become part of a plan that will support the future of maternal health in Palm Beach County.
