During my career at university and in practice I have worked on Conceptual projects for both competitions and degrees.

04 Web3

With a huge interest in Web3, I have developed strong relationships with people in the industry and offered my design services and advice to projects.

Creative Director

As the Creative Director of Kershkicks my design experience has been utilised to assist in building the brand from a small instagram page selling sneakers, to a multi-million pound business, with a community of over 200,000 followers. My role hasn’t just been limited to the Creative side but also all aspects of the business. The business has grown rapidly over the past 4 years which pushed me to deliver on sales targets, marketing, website design and partnerships. I now manage 25 staff across 3 stores whilst running operations for the online store, turning over approximately £10 million per annum.

Collecting sneakers is a huge passion of mine. I put some early proposals forward to the business back in 2018 and was hired as the Creative Director due to my creative background. Being accountable for the design of a start-up sneaker and streetwear store was a great opportunity to showcase my passion.

I set out a plan with the owners and set regular meetings to create the perfect colour scheme, logo’s and branding. These concepts formed the palette and basis to design the store, website and begin to build a social media community which would become the forefront of the brands success.

Manchester, Glasgow and Liverpool Stores

The sneaker culture started in America, with Nike Jordan’s dropping limited releases and resell stores opening. The US culture was key to creating the iconic branding. Finding the right bold colours and high contrast captures the message of a leading streetwear brand. We created an identity which is easily recognisable, whilst relating to the younger generation.

Branding is key. The perfect sneaker store. What makes a brand iconic? Identity, customer interaction and relaxed enviroment.

I have managed a team of designers to develop the branding, marketing, clothing and all social media content. I have implemented strategies to market the brand to the right customers and understand what the younger generation wants to see, buy and be a part of. I worked on the brands features in Complex and Hypebeast.

Through our organic growth and consitant authentic content we caught the eye of multiple established brands. By 2023 I had grown a large number of contacts and secured several partnerships. After months of negotiation and regular discussions I struck a deal with Farfetch, giving us the opportunity to exploit Asian, American and African markets. Other partnerships I delivered on have been with Redbull, Vita Students, Manchester’s Finest and Sneakerness.

Architecture

During my time working in Architectural practices I’ve spent a lot of time working on live projects from concept stage to completion. Working as an Architect amongst a team of designers has given me invaluable knowledge of how to organise and coordinate a design team and run projects.

jmarchitects

The project was awarded ‘Best scheme in planning over 30 units in 2019.

Not only are strong technical skills required for the project I have worked on, but also the key design skills developed from the start of my career. It is vital to understand the end user and consider who you are designing for and the context of the building.

Alton Road, Wandsworth, London. I worked on this project for 13 months during construction stage

Alton Road

Graphic design, sketching and creating concepts is a large part of a projects development. I have gained a lot of experience improving these skills when working as an architect

3D modelling using BIM is a technical skills I’m proud to be profficient in. Using these softwares has helped me contribute to many projects designs and construction.

Coastal Transformation Transportation

Peterhead, Scotland

This project focussed on the impact of brexit for Britain’s fishing towns. The research uncovered a need to remain in contact with Europe and revolutionise the transportation of perishable goods and people. To do this I designed a transportation hub for sustainable Drone travel, re-imaganing a new efficient infrastructure.

The design was made radial to follow the process of the transport of both people and perishable goods. This design enabled the seperation of passengers who had passed security with the public. This allowed for a double walkway system where restaurants and retail spaces could service both sides.

The design developed a form which suited the landscape and could be visible as an iconic civic building which is recognisable in any coastal town. The central atrium space welcomes the public to visit for fresh fish, local retailers and restaurants. The tower structure points towards the town centre but has platforms to allow drones to take off out to sea.

Powering Progression This design was for an Electric Vehicle research and production hub in Runcorn. The building provided low energy research through low carbon design.

Designing for future technologies and sustainability helped influence the design and consider different user experiences for different entities of the building. The seperation of research labs and showcase spaces lead to altering facades in accordance with the function of each space.

The theme of EV was perfect in helping to regenerate Runcorn. The project focuses on integration to new tourism by providing visitor facilities and also focuses on efficient layout for visiting researchers or presenters.

This project proposed a multifunctional botanical garden market to combat the agricultural issues facing the Lido. Self-sustaining both the building and the islands food supply reduces the environmental impact whilst also introducing a touristic attraction and research facilities.

*This scheme was awarded the PS Tyson Prize for best engagement with technology in design.

The building was designed with dendriform columns and hollowcore floor slabs in order to maximise environmental strategies. Green rooves, water recycling and PV cells were used where possible as well as technical shading devices.

Architectural Concepts

The steel dendriform columns were combined with a bespoke truss system to support the glass roof. This encouraged the buildings use to be self sustainable, with maximum natural light and solar shading devices which used a 10% openness factor charcoal fabric which reduces glare and the impact of solar heat gain on the Market.

The project required strong technical skills as well as design initiative to provide drawings which could easily portray the brief.

Sustainable Yacht Production Centre

Lido Di Venezia, Italy

The project was also based in Venice, Italy. The design was a centre for sustainable yacht production and was built around bring luxury sustainable tourism to the Lido of Venice, a once thriving holiday destination.

The design permitted public tours around views of the production facility. The external form developed from the idea of a yachts hull skeleton. The levels were connected by ramps with the route allowing an experience from gallery space to a restaurant.

Web3

Sum Vivas is an innovative business that specialises in creating interactive digital human avatars, environments, clothing and 3D digital assets for us in both physical and digital worlds.

During this this time I was also approached by a start-up company within the Web3 space. Sum Vivas is a technical creative and production agency which specialises in the creation of digital humans and their respective environments. My role here comprised of leading and directing a team of designers to develop a ‘meta human’ and the enviroment within the Unreal Engine Metaverse.

The first project required a large amount of creativity and ideation to produce the perfect meta-DJ who can eventually perform as a hologram at real life concerts. This can be viewed on instagram @dexdj.x

At Sum Vivas I worked closely with Directors to develop a design strategy for the team of designers working on Avatars for music events and social media.

I helped with the business plan and application needed to win a large government grant for Tech start-ups. I assisted developing the marketing plan and gained some good contacts within the industry, securing bookings for large events in the UK, US and India. My work revolved around building the brand to attract interest from investors.

My large interest in Web3 lead me gain a large amount of knowledge in the space and technologies used for Metaverse environments and digital projects. I have been lucky enough to work on some of the top NFT projects and advise on design to help build their communities.
