The Cons:

Campus size: George Mason University's sprawling campus rests on nearly 900 acres, making navigating its grounds challenging for new students. While a more extensive campus may offer more amenities, some may find the large size overwhelming. While GMU is on a mission to expand its on-campus housing options to accommodate a growing student population, availability is limited. This can lead to difficulties adjusting to off-campus living and added stress for students attempting to secure accommodations.

Public transportation restrictions: Fairfax's public transportation system, though existent, may only meet the needs of some GMU students.

The limited bus routes and the need for a subway system can make commuting to and from the university time-consuming for students who need personal transportation.

George Mason University has produced an impressive list of alums who have significantly contributed to various fields. Some notable figures include:

Ángel Cabrera (University President and Professor): After serving as the President of GMU from 2012 to 2019, Cabrera became the President of Georgia Institute of Technology.

Katherine Johnson (Mathematician and NASA Pioneer): The late Katherine Johnson attended GMU as a graduate student and was recently celebrated by NASA for her critical contributions to early human spaceflight missions.
