Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council has got behind the project at Lisburn Rangers’ home ground which will boost grassroots youth and adult football in the city - as well as offering increased leisure opportunities for many others. As part of the project, the existing football pitch, buildings and clubhouse will be redeveloped to provide a brand new facility including a community hub building and parking. An Irish Football Association (IFA) standard 3G playing surface with floodlighting is also part of the plan as well as a dedicated training and play area at the west of the site. The planning application was submitted by Lisburn Recreation and Community Hub. Alderman Martin Councillor Caleb McCready, Chair of Environment & Sustainability Committee and Jenny Williams, Chief Executive, Habitat for Humanity Ireland helped launch the pre-loved Christmas toy scheme at the Christmas Toy Shop at Habitat Restore Lisburn recently.
The Pre-loved Christmas Toy Scheme is Back!
For the second year running, Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council and Habitat for Humanity are delivering a Pre-loved Christmas Toy Scheme. Councillor Caleb McCready, Chair of Environment & Sustainability Committee said: “We are excited to be partnering with Habitat for Humanity again to help local families get quality, affordable pre-loved toys
for their children this Christmas. “Every year, lots of toys which are still in great condition are thrown away as children outgrow them. We are inviting residents to donate their gently-used, pre-loved toys at one of
our drop-off points so that they can be enjoyed by another family this Christmas. “By donating toys for re-use or buying preloved toys, residents are also helping the environment by reducing the number of toys
that end up in landfill, helping to fight climate change. Last year through the scheme, an estimated 11.2 tonnes of waste was diverted from landfill.”

By providing the right facilities and extending opening hours, we are able to offer the perfect place for more young people to get involved in the sport providing health and wellbeing opportunities as well as fostering new talent and creating the football stars of the future.” Stanley Park is based at Lisburn LeisurePlex, further bolstering the social wellbeing and health facilities within the city.
