CHRISTMAS

Did You Know… This is the month of December. A lot of changes happen during this month. It’s much colder. The trees are mostly bare. The plants have died. The sky is kind of gray and soon there may be snow. But that’s not all.

Christmas This is the month of the most popular holiday known as Christmas. Neighbors are already decorating their homes and yards with Christmas lights and figurines. Christmas songs are constantly playing on the radio. Just about every channel on television is featuring stories on Christmas. At your school, you hear all about December 25th from teachers and classmates alike. Everyone looks so happy. Who wouldn’t want to spend time with their family, eat yummy food and exchange gifts? After all, it’s all about Christ’s birthday right? Except that’s not true.

Christmas Christmas is NOT Christ’s birthday. The bible does not tell us when Christ’s born. When a person says that Christmas is Jesus’ birthday this is in fact a lie, which is breaking the 9th commandment. “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor,” (Exodus 20: 16)

IDOLATRY Long before this holiday was given the name Christmas. It was all about idolatry. When we say idolatry we are talking about the worshipping of idols. God hates idolatry. Idols are images or statues that people worship as gods. This is very wicked and sinful. We are only suppose to worship God in Heaven. This breaks the 1st and 2nd commandments.

1st & 2nd Commandments “Thou shalt have no other gods before me,” (Exodus 20: 3) “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:” (Exodus 20: 4)

GOOD VS EVIL Wicked men later decided to use Christ’s name to cover up the idolatry of this holiday and to make it seem good and holy. This holiday literally has Christ’s name in it. You cannot mix good with evil. God does not like that. You cannot use his name with something unclean. By doing so, you are taking his name in vain. This is breaking the 3rd commandment.

3RD Commandment “Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain,” (Exodus 20: 7)

CONCLUSION Christ did not celebrate Christmas. The holy people in the Bible did not celebrate Christmas. The bible does not mention Christmas. This is a holiday created by wicked people. We want to be like Jesus. What we know is that Christ kept the Sabbath and the feast days like Passover. What we know is that he obeyed the laws. What we know is that Jesus will come again to save us from this wicked world but we have to be just like him and obey all that he tells us to do in the Bible. That does not include Christmas!
