PREFACE The NGO ECOWEEK was founded by Elias Messinas in 2005, and since 2009 it has been running programs and events for students and young professionals, within the construction sector, with a focus on sustainability. The ECOWEEK project is guided by three main principles: education, cooperation and sustainable design. This project is a platform that tackles the un-tackled potential of new ideas, coming from young minds which are open to change and to planning, designing and creating better solutions within the city reality, limitations and challenges, guided by ecological principles. ECOcity (Ecology + Society) is a non-governmental organization, established in Prishtina, in 2013. Its mission is to raise environmental awareness, to design and contribute on sustainable architecture, and to offer sustainable solutions in neighborhoods of cities in Kosova and abroad. The organization aims through the use of technology, to design and build differently, trying to bring changes to the city and to community. ECOWEEK Prishtina, part of the international network ECOWEEK, is a consultative platform for joint action that gives priority to the promotion of sustainability, green design, innovations in technology and construction, as well as social and environmental entrepreneurship, to influence on the improvement of the community's life. It is the main event on eco-design in Kosova. It is a combination of various stakeholders (community, students and professionals, locals and internationals, of various backgrounds), to exchange environmental ideas and construction techniques; giving to the project participants the opportunity to engage in real projects, on real sites, and even in hands-on construction of full-scale prototypes or the actual installation or intervention.
