PREFACE The NGO ECOWEEK was founded by Elias Messinas in 2005, and since 2009 it has been running programs and events for students and young professionals, within the construction sector, with a focus on sustainability. The ECOWEEK project is guided by three main principles: education, cooperation and sustainable design. This project is a platform that tackles the un-tackled potential of new ideas, coming from young minds which are open to change and to planning, designing and creating better solutions within the city reality, limitations and challenges, guided by ecological principles. ECOcity (Ecology + Society) is a non-governmental organization, established in Prishtina, in 2013. Its mission is to raise environmental awareness, to design and contribute on sustainable architecture, and to offer sustainable solutions in neighborhoods of cities in Kosova and abroad. The organization aims through the use of technology, to design and build differently, trying to bring changes to the city and to community. ECOWEEK Prishtina, part of the international network ECOWEEK, is a consultative platform for joint action that gives priority to the promotion of sustainability, green design, innovations in technology and construction, as well as social and environmental entrepreneurship, to influence on the improvement of the community's life. It is the main event on eco-design in Kosova. It is a combination of various stakeholders (community, students and professionals, locals and internationals, of various backgrounds), to exchange environmental ideas and construction techniques; giving to the project participants the opportunity to engage in real projects, on real sites, and even in hands-on construction of full-scale prototypes or the actual installation or intervention.

PARATHËNIE Organizata ECOWEEK është themeluar nga Elias Messinas në vitin 2005, dhe që prej vitit 2009 ka drejtuar programe dhe aktivitete për studentë dhe profesionistë të rinj, në kuadër të sektorit të ndërtimit, me fokus në qëndrueshmëri. Projekti ECOWEEK udhëhiqet nga tri parime kryesore: edukim, bashkëpunim dhe dizajn i qëndrueshëm. Ky projekt është një platformë, që trajton potencialin e pa-trajtuar të ideve të reja, që vijnë nga mendjet e reja, të cilat janë të hapura për të ndryshuar e për të planifikuar, projektuar dhe krijuar zgjidhje më të mira, në kuadër të realitetit të qytetit, të kufizimeve dhe sfidave, udhëhequr nga parimet ekologjike. ECOcity (Ecology + Society) është një organizatë jo qeveritare, e themeluar në Prishtinë, në vitin 2013. Misioni i saj është të rrisë ndërgjegjësimin për mjedisin, për të projektuar dhe kontribuar në arkitekturën e qëndrueshme dhe për të ofruar zgjidhje të qëndrueshme në lagjet e qyteteve të Kosovës dhe jashtë saj. Kjo organizatë synon, që nëpërmjet përdorimit të teknologjisë, të projektojë dhe ndërtojë në tjetër trajtë, duke u munduar të sjellë ndryshime në qytet dhe në komunitet. ECOWEEK Prishtina, pjesë e rrjetit ndërkombëtar ECOWEEK, është një platformë konsultative për veprim të përbashkët, e cila i jep përparësi promovimit të qëndrueshmërisë, projektimit të “gjelbër”, risive në teknologji e ndërtim, si dhe sipërmarrjeve sociale e mjedisore, për të ndikuar në përmirësimin e jetës së komunitetit. Është ngjarja kryesore e eko-dizajnit në Kosovë. Është një kombinim i grupeve të ndryshme të interesit (komunitet, studentë e profesionistë, vendorë e ndërkombëtarë, të lëmive të ndryshme), për të shkëmbyer ide dhe teknika ndërtimi ambjentale; duke i dhënë pjesëmarrësve mundësinë për t'u angazhuar në projekte të mirëfillta, në hapësira reale të qytetit, dhe madje edhe të punojnë në ndërtimin në shkallë të plotë, të prototipeve apo instalimeve e ndërhyrjeve që projektohen.

From Greece to Kosovo: teaching and learning Held its international conference and workshop presentations in Prishtina, Kosovo twice. Architecture students from the University of Prishtina 'Hasan Prishtina' presented proposals of design, design-build, and visionary design activist projects in selected locations in the city. An international conference and sustainable design workshops ECOWEEK organized in Kosova. The workshops of ECOWEEK, which last for one week, expose young Architecture students not only to the principles of sustainability and sustainable design, but also to the importance of locality and entrepreneurship as well. Students experience the development of social cohesion and mutual support, re-use of public space, restoration of life in abandoned places in the city and are empowered to dare to think, envision and do. The modern history of Kosova is more or less known. The country became independent in 2008, but has not been fully recognized by the world community. With unemployment reaching 45% and unemployment among young people exceeding 55%, the country's economy is based by 15% from funds that come from migration - based on official data and by a larger percentage per unofficial estimates. Migration of young people and young professionals who flee the country in search of work and a better future in Europe. But given the current crisis of thousands of refugees moving from Syria to Europe, through Turkey and Greece, Europe has reached its limits in absorbing additional refugees. Whether they come from the Middle East or Eastern Europe or the Balkans. So the question is how to address unemployment through sustainable design? One solution is to create new jobs to absorb the young professionals. According to the International Monetary Fund, the creation of new jobs in Kosovo are not enough to absorb young professionals. The solution proposed by ECOWEEK was to nurture entrepreneurship and empower young people to create themselves their employment through planning processes and initiating projects on their own. In addition to envisioning and shaping the future they want. So, during the ECOWEEK workshop in Prishtina, a team of architects, communication designers and internationally acclaimed artists, opened new perspectives for young architects. They guided them to discover their own way to act in their city, claiming, for example, the public space for pedestrians that has nearly disappeared from uncontrolled construction and the dominance of cars. To redefine the open space in which they live, creating welcoming meeting points, for rest and socializing. To reuse wisely 'waste' materials and give them new uses - instead of ending up in a landfill, a stream or a forest, threatening the natural wealth and biodiversity of the country. Learning from the traditional manufacturing techniques - almost identical to the techniques of the building guilds of the Balkans - for the use of local materials, including adobe and local passive solar solutions. One of the workshops dealt with proposals for the design info point in the park Germia northeast of Pristina, which the Municipality is interested to build in collaboration with the local WWF. 4

In other words, by empowering and educating, young architects in Kosova, ECOWEEK is assisting them in two ways: on one hand ECOWEEK offers young people in Kosovo a platform to develop their professional knowledge and skills and realize their potential in their own city, and their own country. Second, by strengthening the local community ECOWEEK is offering an alternative solution to migration, a huge problem currently facing all of Europe. Finally, this process of empowerment gives us an important lesson: by teaching we learn the value of entrepreneurship, courage and action, procedures which may also help also young people in Greece. The next ECOWEEK international conference and workshops is taking place on November 1-7, 2015 in Thessaloniki. It remains to be seen how the experience accumulated in Kosovo can be applied to Greece. ECOWEEK has been hosting twice till now by our Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture, and it has become a very valuable significant transformation and improvement of knowledge of the students. I consider it's a very inspiring and unique project bringing together professionals, young established professionals and students to shape the city, to share ideas and work dedicated to architecture and environment. The event is a great opportunity for young professionals to learn about Energy Efficiency, 'green' buildings, from the best professionals and experts in this field, to learn, to have trainings and gain experience in how to think, plan and design 'green' and affordable with the community. We are aware how Prishtina is experiencing a non well accepted urban and architectural development. and this architecture is part of the shaping of our everyday lives and interactions with one another. ECOWEEK Prishtina offers suggestions for how to improve going through the challenges in better future of our city. Going through the two events , especially I want to express my warm words for the NGO ECOciety, and to congratulate the team for initiative and their great work in both events. Prishtina has a lot of flaws but it also has the potential with the young people who want to learn and have the will to change it. I also want to thank the speakers and workshop leaders for joining Ecoweek by inspiring, teaching and training young professionals and students to think and design green. WELCOME TO ECOWEEK PRISHTINA! ECOWEEK has become a tradition now, happening each year here in Prishtina! This sustainable architecture festival includes conferences, lectures, workshops, discussions, presentations, exhibitions, films, documentaries and more for one full week and is open to public. For me it is very exciting to work together with the best among ecologically minded-architects, designers , political decision makers , landscape architects, urban planners, artists, engineers, sociologists, philosophers, young professionals, and graduate students, for this week of creative thinking, cooperation, dialogue, intercultural exchange, networking, hard work and having lots of fun during the same time! The catalog concludes this experience happened twice in Prishtina. This very successful and achieved event would not have been made possible and successful without the enthusiasm, commitment, and hard work and without the generous participation of many people, coming from near and far, dedicating their time, their experience and expertise, towards making a difference. A special thanks for Elias Messinas for his great help and dedication. FRANCOISE-HELENE JOURDA Françoise-Hélène Jourda was an award-winning architect, Chevalier de l'Ordre de la Legion d'Honneur, and a Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters. She been taught Architecture since 1979, at the Ecole d'Architecture de Lyon, France, Ecole d'Architecture de Saint-Etienne, France, the School of Architecture in Oslo, Norway, University of Minessota, USA, the Polytechnic of Central London, UK, the Technical University of Kassel, Germany, and since 1999 at the Technical University of Vienna, Austria. She was the Director of the Institute and Chair “Design Space”, University of Vienna, Austria; a member of the German Academy of Fine Arts, “Akademie der Kunste”; member of the Academy of Architecture Commissioner of the French Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale, 2004; Listener Round of High Studies for Economic Development (CHED) 2003/2004, professor of International Academy of Architecture, and was nominated for the “Global Award for Sustainable Architecture”. She was head of her architecture firm JAP (Jourda Architectes Paris) and heads of the company EO-CITE, an architecture and urban planning consulting firm.

Françoise-Hélène Jourda ishte një arkitekte fituese e çmimit “Kalorës i Urdhërit të Nderit”, dhe e çmimit tjetër “Kalorës i Urdhërit të Arteve e Shkronjave”. Ajo ka ligjëruar arkitekturë që nga viti 1979, në Shkollën e Arkitekturës në Lyon, Francë, Shkollën e Arkitekturës së Saint-Etienne, Francë, ne Shkollën e Arkitekturës në Oslo, Norvegji, Universitetin e Minesotës, SHBA, Politeknikun e Londrës Qëndrore, Mretëri e Bashkuar, në Universitetin Teknik të Kassel, Gjermani, dhe që prej 1999, ajo ligjëronte në Universitetin Teknik të Vjenës, Austri. Ajo ishte drejtuese e Institutit “Dizajn Hapësire”, në Universitetin e Vjenës; anëtare e Akademisë së Arteve të Bukura Gjermane, anëtare e Akademisë së Komisionerëve për Arkitekturë në Pavionin Francez në Biennalen e Venecias për arkitekturë në vitin 2004. RUSTY SMITH Rusty Smith is currently a Auburn University's professor, Associate Chair of the Architecture Program, Associate Director of the Rural Studio, and the Coordinator of the First Year Program in Architecture. He also has taught and lectured as a Distinguished Visiting Artist at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in the Department of Architecture, Interior Architecture and Designed Objects. Rusty's honors related to teaching excellence include the receipt of the 2005 American Institute of Architects, National Teaching Honor Award (along with Professors Bruce Lindsey and Rebecca O'Neal Dagg), and the 2003 American Institute of Architecture Students National Teaching Honor Award. He's currently an independent consultant that has practiced professionally since 1991. He has worked as a senior designer for a variety of internationally recognized architectural firms, including “Perkins + Will” and “Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum”.

Rusty Smith është aktualisht profesor në Universitetin Auburn, Kryetar i Asociuar i Programit të Arkitekturës, Drejtor i Studios Rural, si dhe Koordinator i Programit të Vitit të Parë në Arkitekturë. PROSTOROŽ, MAŠA CVETKO, ZALA VELKAVRH Group Prostorož emerged in 2004 with a desire to explore and understand the open city space. Today it combines architects, sociologists, jurists, designers and many others, who work to examine and open up new possibilities of public space use. They try to raise awareness of the meaning of public spaces, and of building strong local communities that are capable of active involvement in managing their own environment. From this group, in Ecoweek Prishtina 2014, we had, as lecturers, Maša Cvetko, which combines architecture with urban planning, scenography, design and art in public spaces, and Zala Velkavrh, which is interested in everyday life sociology, the communication with community and their way of organization.

Prostorož është studio e themeluar në vitin 2004, e cila ka për qëllim të eksplorojë dhe kuptojë hapësirat e hapura në qytet. Ajo përbëhet nga arkitektë, sciologjistë, juristë, dizajnerë dhe shumë të tjerë, që trajtojnë mënyrat e reja të përdorimit të hapësirave publike. Qëllimi i tyre është të ngrenë vetëdijen për rëndësinë e hapësirave publike, dhe të ndërtojnë komunitete të forta lokale, që janë të afta të angazhohen dhe menaxhojnë ambientin e tyre. Nga Prostorož, në Ecoweek Prishtina 2014, ligjëruan, Maša Cvetko, e cila kombinon arkitekturën me planifikim urban, skenografi, dizajn dhe art në hapësira publike, si dhe Zala Velkavrh, e cila është e interesuar në sociologjinë e jetës së përditshme, komunikimin me komunitet dhe organizimin e tyre. 14

THOMAS DOXIADIS Thomas Doxiadis, ASLA, is born in Athens. He is an architect from Harvard University, Landscape Architect Harvard University MLA (1998), former Associate Professor, University of Patras; former Associate Professor, University of Thessaly; Assistant Professor, Harvard University Graduate School of Design; Manager, Organizing Committee of Olympic Games Athens 2004 (19992003); Agency Director of Planning and Environmental Protection of Athens (1999-2001); Head of consulting offices “doxiadis +” which negotiates the architecture and landscape architecture on the basis of environmental planning and landscape.

Thomas Doxiadis, Asla, u lind në Athinë. Arkitekt nga Universiteti i Harvardit, Arkitekt Peizazhistik në Universitetin e Harvardit; Ishprofesor në Universitetin e Patras; ish-Profesor, Universiteti i Thesalisë; Asistent në Universitetin Harvard të Dizajnit; Menaxher, Komiteti Organizativ i Lojrave Olimpike Athinë 2004 (1999-2003); Drejtor i Agjencionit të Planifikimit dhe Mbrojtjes së Mjedisit të Athinës (1999-2001). RODRIGO GARCÍA Rodrigo Garcia Gonzalez received his architectural degree with honors from the ETSAM, Technical University of Madrid. He had done design studies in Umeå Institute of Design, Sweden and PUC, Chile. He holds a Master of Arts by the Royal College of Art and a Master of Science by Imperial College London. His works have been shown in different artistic centers such as the Cite de l'Architecture of Paris and the Venice Biennale of Architecture. As a lecturer he has collaborated with different universities and institutions in Colombia, Turkey, India, USA, etc. He also worked for more than ten years as an improvisation actor, and awarded with the Gold Medal in the II Improvisation World Championship celebrated in 2009 Santiago de Chile.

Rodrigo Garcia Gonzalez mori titullin e arkitekturës me nderime nga ETSAM, Universiteti Teknik i Madridit. Ai i kreu studimet në Umeå Institutin e Projektimit, Suedi dhe PUC, Kili. Mban një Master të Arteve, nga Kolegji Mbretëror i Artit dhe një Master të Shkencave, nga Kolegji Imperial në Londër. Veprat e tij janë treguar në qendra të ndryshme artistike të tilla si, Cité de l'Architecture të Parisit dhe në Bienalen e Venedikut të Arkitekturës. MACIEJ SIUDA Maciej Siuda, architect, graduated with honors from the Faculty of Architecture at Wroclaw University of Technology in 2008. His diploma “XYZ Structure” was presented at Guggenheim Museum in New York and awarded in numbers of international and national competitions. From 2005 to 2007 he studied at the Faculty of Architecture at University of Technology in Valencia and made an internship at the SQArquitectos office (Valencia). From 2008 to 2011 he worked as an architect in PO2 Arquitectos (Madrid), Sou Fujimoto Architects (Tokio), Grupo Aranea (Alicante). Co- creator of the international workshop of architecture and urbanism: IWAU. Since 2011 he teaches design at School of Form and Swietokrzyska University of Technology.

Maciej Siuda, arkitekt, u diplomua me nderime nga Fakulteti iArkitekturës në Wroclaw,në Universitetin e Teknologjisë,në vitin 2008. Diploma e tij, “Struktura XYZ” është paraqitur në Muzeun Guggenheim, në Nju Jork, dhe është fituese e disa garave ndërkombëtare dhe kombëtare. MICHIEL SMITS Michiel Smits is an expert in the field of designing and realizing development aid projects. He focuses his work on the collaboration between the local community and the architect, creating a platform with unconventional tools and methodology. He started his educational career in Breda, Netherlands where he studied building engineering (Baronie College). After that he studied Interior Design at the St. Joost University, followed by a Bachelor in Architecture at the AVANS University. He worked his way up to attain a master in Architecture at the TU Delft. In 2004 he first travelled to Kenya, Africa to work on building a dam for the local community. This journey instilled a deep passion in him, which later inspired him to raise a NGO. As well as holding a position at AVANS University as a lecturer, Mr. Smits owns his own company, MWM Architectuur.

GIE STEENPUT Gie Steenput studied architecture in Antwerp, Hasselt and Leuven and worked in the office of Charles Vandenhove in Liege, Belgium, and the office of Aldo and Hannie van Eyck in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Since 1990 he is professor of architecture at the University of Applied Sciences Avans located in Tilburg, where he is also responsible for teaching 4 year old program in architecture during the past 15 years. Some of his students have won many awards in architecture and several others have been nominated in various competitions. School in his program he combines critical thinking, anti-conformism, optimism, laughter and hard work related to the construction industry. A subject that he has lectured worldwide conference in Brazil in March 2013, NOCMAT along According to Gie, architecture should be considered as a social art where innovative ideas and projects need help understanding of "the other". With his students and practice its humble he is seeking new spaces optimistic constructed with materials unconventional where peace, prosperity and resolution to change the world realized through the merger of ideas from different fields that do not belong to the daily practice of a engineer's work.

MARIALUISA PALUMBO Maria Luisa Palumbo, architect and senior fellow of the McLuhan Program in Culture and Technology of Toronto University, author of 'New Wombs', 'Electronic bodies' and 'architectural disorder' (Birkhauser, 2000) and 'Architettura Produttiva', 'Principi di progettazione ecologica' (Maggioli 2012). Since 2003, she direct the Master di Architettura Digitale at the Italian National Institute of Architecture (IN/ARCH) in Rome. In 2004 she founded “Romalab”, Laboratorio di Architettura Relazionale, a research laboratory focused on the issue of public space and the search of new strategies for the development of the contemporary city. Gëzim Paçarizi was born in Prizren, Kosova. Since 1989, he has been living in Switzerland. He studied architecture in Prishtina and Geneva and graduated at Geneva University in 1993. He has been working in more than thirty projects and competitions in Kosova and also in Switzerland. He is a partner of PHARC architects in Geneva and POLITBYRO (Paçarizi Architecture Studio) in Prishtina. Member of SIA (Swiss Society of Architects) and REGA (Swiss Registre of Architects). The principles of his architecture are the simplicity of form, thought space and generously developed with materials used in a way that reveals their nature. Gëzim is the curator of Kosova's pavilion at the year 2013 in Architecture Exhibition in Venice Biennial.

Gëzim Pacarizi ka lindur në Prizren, Kosovë. Që nga viti 1989 ai jeton në Zvicër. Studioi arkitekturë në Prishtinë dhe Gjenevë dhe, diplomoi në Universitetin e Gjenevës në vitin 1993. Ai ka punuar në më shumë se tridhjetë projekte dhe konkurse në Kosovë, dhe në Zvicër. Gëzim është partner i arkitektëve PHARC në Gjenevë, dhe i POLITBYRO (Studio e Arkitekturës Paçarizi) në Prishtinë. Antarë i SIA (Swiss Society of Architects) dhe i REGA (Swiss Registre of Architects). PËRPARIM RAMA Përparim Rama, CEO and Founding Director of 4M Group, is an award-winning Architectural Designer and Conceptual Artist. His distinctly integrated approach and passion for architecture has been presented in numerous media publications: London Building Design Magazine, BBC, RAI, The Times Newspaper; and his project works are visible in more than 20 countries around the globe. He currently sits on the panel for the World Interior News Awards as a judge on luxury hotels, bars and restaurants. Rama completed his first RIBA Part 1 BA (Hons) from London South Bank University School of Architecture in 1998, followed by his RIBA Part II Postgraduate Degree from the University Of East London School Of Architecture in 2003. Also that year, Rama completed his Masters with Distinction from the Centre for Evolutionary Computing in Architecture (CECA). Since that time, aside from his successes with 4M Group, his career has catapulted to include accomplishments such as being a consultant for the 2012 London Olympics, project leader in designing the Urban Regulating Plan for London city, and proudly making history at the 13th Venice Biennale in 2012, as the first person to represent Kosovo in the event. Rama is heavily immersed in sustainable development strategies and incorporates this into all of 4M projects– making sure that all undertakings are assessed by a sustainable engineer, and utilizes recyclable materials. He assists the Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) as a peer reviewer and specialist consultant for Qatar's 2030 Vision for Doha. Rama is a visiting critic to various university architectural programs, and is a former tutor for the Nottingham University School of Architecture.

LAURA PEDATA Laura Pedata was born in Rome, graduated in 2005 in the University of Rome "Sapienza", Faculty of Architecture "Ludovico Quaroni". After graduating she founded the architecture office UNGROUP. In 2007 she won a scholarship to study Master program in architecture at UCLA (MArchll), where she graduated in June 2008. She is an expert in environmental design and sustainability. From 2009 to 2011 she was an assistant professor at the University of Rome "Sapienza", where she lectured Landscape Design and Architectural Design at the "Final Synthesis Studio" in environmental design. In 2012 she was hired by "SOM" in San Francisco as a professional architect - D level. Currently she works at "Polis" University (International School of Architecture and Urban Development Policies) in Tirana, as a lecturer and coordinator of the Master programs.

Laura Pedata u lind në Romë, diplomoi në vitin 2005 në Universitetin e Romës “Sapienza”, Fakulteti i Arkitekturës “Ludovico Quaroni”. Pas diplomimit themeloi zyrën për arkitekturë UNGROUP. JULJAN VELESHNJA Juljan Veleshnja has graduated from the University of Florence Faculty of Architecture, Italy. He does constant research in the field of Environment, as Master thesis at the University Polis, Landscape and Urban Design, Urban and Environmental requalification system, Tirana. Currently, he continues to develop further this theme in the doctoral program in Design and Environment at the University of Studies of Rome “La Sapienza”. From 2009, Mr. Veleshnja teaches at POLIS University, Faculty of Architecture and Design. From 2009 he collaborates with architectural studio 'Metropolis' in several projects and has participated in national and international architectural competitions as a professional in energy efficiency. 17

NASER KABASHI Naser Kabashi graduated at the Department of Construction, Faculty of Civil Engineering, and Architecture (FCEA), UP. He finished his master studies from the FCEA and the Faculty of Construction Engineering; University of Zagreb. He completed his PhD in 2006. His specialized field is: Building Materials, Technology of Concrete and Examinations of Structures. He teaches at the FCEA since 1988, where he also performed many coordinating and managerial roles: Manager of the Construction Materials Lab (since 2004); Vice-Dean of FCEA (2006-2008); Dean of the FCEA (since 2008). He has been awarded several scholarships and is a member of many international academic and professional associations. He also heads several projects in design of constructions, stability assessments, and management of constructions works. Since 2013 he represents partnership of UP at two TEMPUS Project, MPG and DAPEEW and is a local coordinator of TEMPUS Project – MPG. He has participated at many scientific and professional conferences as an invited speaker and /or a review committee member. Since 2011, he is member of ACI (American Concrete Institute).

Naser Kabashi u diplomua në Departamentin e Ndërtimtarisë, Fakulteti i Ndërtimtarisë dhe Arkitekturës (FNA), UP. Ai përfundoi studimet master në FNA dhe në Fakultetin e Inxhinierisë së Ndërtimit, në Universitetin e Zagrebit. Përfundoi doktoraturën në vitin 2006. Fushat e tij të specializuara janë: Materiale Ndërtimore, Teknologji Betoni dhe Ekzaminime të Strukturave. Ligjëron në FNA që prej vitit 1988, ku gjithashtu ka punuar edhe në role koordinuese dhe drejtuese: Drejtues i Laboratorit të Materialeve Ndërtimore (nga viti 2004); Zëvendës-Dekan i FNA (2006-2008); Dekan i FNA (nga viti 2008). Ka qenë fitues i disa bursave dhe është anëtar i shumë shoqatave akademike dhe profesionale ndërkombëtare. Ai gjithashtu drejton disa projekte në projektimin e ndërtimeve, vlerësimit të stabilitetit dhe menaxhimin e punëve ndërtimore. Që nga viti 2013 ai përfaqëson partneritetin e UP-së në dy projektet TEMPUS, MPG dhe DAPEEW dhe është koordinator lokal i Projekti Tempus – MPG. Ai ka marrë pjesë në shumë konferenca shkencore dhe profesionale si ligjërues i ftuar dhe / ose si anëtar i jurisë. Që nga viti 2011, ai është anëtar i ACI (Instituti Amerikan i Betonit).

Ilir Gjinolli has graduated from the faculty of Architecture at Prishtina University. During 1988-1991 he followed his graduate studies at Zagreb University. Since 1988, he started the academic carrier as a professor assistant, and from 1991 as a lecturer of Urban Design at Prishtina University, Department of Architecture. He's currently in the process of completing PhD studies at the Faculty of Architecture, Graz University of Technology, Austria. In 2001 he established multidisciplinary studio of architecture and urban design URBAN PLUS, where he is director since 2006. In 2002 established the Institute for Spatial Planning within the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, and was director until 2006. He was leader of the Spatial Plan for Kosovo. In 2010, together with Alfredo Navarro, a Spanish architect established EUROPAN Architectural competition in Kosovo and is president of the local organization EUROPAN Kosovo.

Ilir Gjinolli u diplomua në Fakultetin e Arkitekturës, në Universitetin e Prishtinës. Përgjatë 1988-1991 ndoqi studimet pasuniversitare në Universitetin e Zagrebit. Prej 1988-tës, filloi karrierën akademike si asistent dhe prej 1991, si ligjërues i Dizajnit Urban, në Universitetin e Prishtinës, Departamenti i Arkitekturës. Aktualisht është në procesin e përfundimit të studimeve të doktoratës në Fakultetin e Arkitekturës, Universiteti i Teknologjisë në Graz, Austri. In 2001, themeloi studion multidisiplinare të arkitekturës dhe projektimit urban URBAN PLUS, ku është drejtor që prej vitit 2006. Në vitin 2002 themeloi Institutin për Planifikim Hapësinor, në kuadër të Ministrisë së Mjedisit dhe Planifikimit Hapësinor, dhe ishte drejtor deri në vitin 2006. Ishte udhëheqës i Planit Hapësinor për Kosovë. Në 2010, së bashku me Alfredo Navarro, arkitekt spanjoll krijuan konkursin e arkitekturës EUROPAN në Kosovë dhe është president i organizatës lokale Europan Kosova.

Violeta Nushi graduated from the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, in Prishtina in 1989, where she than started to work in 2003. She did the PhD on the topic “The benefit of sustainability on space with the choice of spatial structures ". She also lectures at the Public University in Tetovo since 2009. From 1989 to 1999, Ms. Nushi worked in Gjakova (in an architecture and urbanism office, ENING) as architect and urban planner; from 2000-2001 she worked at the US Office in Prishtina and from 2002-2010 as a construction engineer (Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe). She has also been vice president of the Association of Architects of Kosovo. Since 2009, she is a member of two scientific projects in the European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST COST TU0901 and TU0905). She has participated in many scientific and professional conferences.

Violeta Nushi diplomoi në Fakultetin e Ndërtimtarisë dhe Arkitekturës, në Prishtinë, në vitin 1989, ku dhe nisi të punojë në 2003. Doktoroi më temën “Përfitimi i qëndrueshmërisë në hapësirë, me zgjedhjen e strukturave hapësinore”. Ajo po ashtu ligjëron në Universitetin Publik në Tetovë që prej 2009. Nga viti 1989-1999, Znj. Nushi ka punuar në Gjakovë (në një studio për arkitekturë dhe urbanizëm ENING) si arkitekte dhe planifikuese urbane; nga 20002001 punoi në Zyrën Amerikane në Prishtinë dhe nga 2002-2010 si inxhiniere e ndërtimi ( Organizata për Siguri dhe Bashkëveprim në Evropë). Ka qenë nënkryetare e Asociacionit të Arkitektëve të Kosovës. Që nga 2009, është anëtare në dy Projekte Shkencore, në European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST TU0901 and COST TU0905). FLORINA JERLIU Florina Jerliu is an architect, with a strong background in NGO work. Since 2004 she teaches architectural history, theory and heritage courses at the University of Prishtina, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture. She has been engaged in architectural practice since 2000 and was awarded in several architecture and urban planning competitions. Since 2006 she manages the architecture studio proARCH in Prishtina, in partnership with V. Navakazi. She is a founding member and a manager of the local NGO for architecture and urbanism Archis Interventions Prishtina – part of the Archis Interventions network, as well as a founding member and Board member of the local think tank Kosovo Stability Initiative (IKS).

Florina Jerliu është arkitekte, me një prapavijë të fortë në punën e OJQ-ve. Që nga viti 2004 ajo jep mësim në histori arkitektonike, teori dhe trashëgimi në Universitetin e Prishtinës, Fakulteti i Ndërtimtarisë dhe Arkitekturës. Ka qenë e angazhuar në praktikë arkitektonike, që nga viti 2000 dhe u shpërblye në disa konkurse të arkitekturës dhe planifikimit urban. DUKAGJIN HASIMJA Dukagjin Hasimja, cand. Dr.Sc. is an architect, with a strong background in academic education. Since 1988 he teaches on spatial/urban planning/design courses at the University of Prishtina, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture and since 2010 in the AAB University, Faculty of Architecture, Prishtina. He has been engaged in urban and architectural design practice since 2000 and was awarded in several architectural and urban planning competitions. Since 2000 he manages the urban-architecture studio “Urban +” and later from 2010-2014 urban-architecture studio “Urban 3 A”. His actual position is professor in Faculty of architecture in UP.

Dukagjin Hasimja, cand. Dr.sc. është një arkitekt, me një prapavijë të fortë në fushën e edukimit akademik. Që nga viti 1988 ai jep mësim në kurset Hapësinore / Planifikimit urban / Projektimit në Universitetin e Prishtinës, Fakulteti i Ndërtimtarisë dhe Arkitekturës, dhe që nga viti 2010 në Universitetin AAB, Fakulteti i Arkitekturës, Prishtinë. Ai ka qenë i angazhuar në praktika të projektimit urban dhe arkitektonik që nga viti 2000 dhe u shpërblye në disa konkurse arkitektonike dhe urbanistike. Që nga viti 2000 menaxhon Studion e Arkitekturës urbane "Urban +" dhe më vonë nga 2010-2014 studion "Urban 3 A". Pozita e tij aktuale është profesor në Fakultetin e arkitekturës në UP.

VLORA NAVAKAZI Vlora Navakazi is an architect with a strong background in academic education. Since 1986 she teaches public design courses at the University of Prishtina, Faculty of Civil Engineering, and Architecture, and since 2008 in the State University of Tetovo, Faculty of Architecture. She has been engaged in architectural practice since 1994 and was awarded in several architecture and urban planning competitions. Since 2006 she manages the architecture studio proARCH in Prishtina in partnership with F. Jerliu. She is a founding member and a manager in the local NGO for architecture and urbanism Archis Interventions Prishtina – part of the Archis Interventions network.

Vlora Navakazi është arkitekte me një prapavijë të fortë në fushën e edukimit akademik. Që nga viti 1986 ajo jep mësim në kurset e projektimit publik në Universitetin e Prishtinës, Fakulteti i Ndërtimtarisë dhe Arkitekturës, dhe që nga viti 2008 në Universitetin Shtetëror të Tetovës, Fakulteti i Arkitekturës. Ajo ka qenë e angazhuar në praktikë arkitektonike që nga viti 1994 dhe është shpërblyer në disa konkurse të arkitekturës dhe planifikimit urban. Që nga viti 2006 ajo menaxhon studion e arkitekturës proARCH në Prishtinë në bashkëpunim me F. Jerliu. ARDITA BYCI-JAKUPI Ardita Byci Jakupi was born in Hamburg. She graduated at the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering in Prishtina. In 2003 she has joined Department of Architecture- chair of Urbanism and Spatial Plannig, University of Prishtina as a professor assistant. In 2001 she has been engaged in URBAN PLUS studio of architecture, planning and urban design and where she became a partner. She has been acting both in the role of architect, urban planner and project manager in different architectural and urban planning projects. Actually she is a PhD student at the Faculty of Architecture in Sarajevo, where she does research in the field of landscape architecture. 19

Në vitin 2003 ajo iu bashkua Departamentit të Arkitekturës- katedrës së Urbanizmit dhe Planifikimit Hapësinor, Universiteti i Prishtinës si Asistente. Në vitin 2001 është e angazhuar në studion e arkitekturës, planifikimit dhe projektimit urban URBAN PLUS dhe ku ajo u bë partnere. Ajo ka qenë duke vepruar si në rolin e arkitektit, planifikuesit urban dhe menaxher i projektit në projekte të ndryshme të planifikimit arkitektonik dhe urban. Tani ajo është student e PhD në Fakultetin e Arkitekturës në Sarajevë, ku bën kërkime në fushën e arkitekturës së peizazhit.

ARLINDA SHEQIRI Arlinda Sheqiri is an expert in the field of sustainable architecture and urbanism. She's currently pursuing a PhD at Politecnico di Milano, Italy. She has mainly been involved with sustainable architecture for large scale projects as a postgraduate, as well as architecture and spatial planning as an undergraduate. Over the past years, she was engaged in research and projects focusing on different issues, such as sustainable architecture and urban design, environmental policy, landscape design, resource efficiency, green buildings solutions, technology and smart living design. Her projects have also spanned on different geographical settings, as she has been involved in sites based in Austria, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, Albania, Netherland and Italy. Ms. Sheqiri is one of the co-founder of NGO- sustainable stimulation programs in 2014. She received degree award "Premio di Laurea" from Politecnico di Milano, also she received award for best overall academic achievement at the end of BSc. Degree in 2009.

Arlinda Sheqiri, është eksperte në fushën e arkitekturës të qëndrueshme dhe urbanizëm. Aktualisht është duke bërë doktoraturën në Politeknikun e Milanos, Itali. Ajo ka qenë kryesisht e përfshirë me arkitekturën e qëndrueshme për projekte në shkallë të mëdha, pas studimeve universitare, si edhe e përfshirë me arkitekturë e planifikim hapësinor si studente. Gjatë viteve të fundit, ajo është angazhuar në hulumtime dhe projekte, duke u fokusuar në çështje të ndryshme, të tilla si arkitekturë të qëndrueshme dhe dizajn urban, politika mjedisore, dizajn peizazhi, efikasitet i burimeve, zgjidhjet e ndërtesave të gjelbëra, teknologji dhe dizajn i të jetuarit mençur. Projektet e saj, gjithashtu, shtrihen edhe në mjedise të ndryshme gjeografike, pasi ajo ka qenë e përfshirë në Austri, Kroaci, Kosovë, Mali të Zi, Shqipëri, Hollandë dhe Itali. Ajo është një nga bashkë-themelueset e OJQ- programeve stimuluese të qëndrueshme në 2014. Arbnor Murati studied architecture at the ETH Zurich, and at the Accademia di Architettura in Mendrisio. In 2009 he opened his own office in Morcote, where in 2012 expanded in Lugano. In 2011, Arbnor Murati only twenty nine years old won the prestigious international competition of the Campus University USI/SUPSI, Lugano 1st prize. Since 2010 is teaching associate at Architecture Faculty at University of Prishtina. Arbnor Murati's works have been published in several press and journals like Tec21, Baublatt, Archi and Werk, Bauen und Wohnen where this last one in 2011 announce him as among the best architects about 30 s in Switzerland. Since 2014, in Municipality of capital city Prishtina, Arbnor Murati is counselor of the Director of the Department for Urbanism, Building and Environmental Protection.

ARBËR HAMIDI Arbër Hamidi studied architecture at the State University of Tetovo. Since 2011 he has been engaged in several design and construction studios in Tetovo- Macedonia and Tirana- Albania. He has collaborated with several design studios and construction companies in Kosovo, as designer and supervisor. Arbër Hamidi's works has been presented at the biennale Skopje 2012. Since January 2014, in Municipality of Prishtina, he is Advisor to the Director of Department for Inspection.

Arbr Hamidi ka studiuar arkitekturë në Universitetin Shtetëror të Tetovës. Që nga viti 2011 ka qenë i angazhuar në projektim dhe ndërtim në disa studio në Tetovë -Maqedoni dhe Tiranë- Shqipëri. Ka bashkëpunuar me disa studio të projektimit dhe kompanitë e ndërtimit në Kosovë, si projektues dhe mbikëqyrës. Veprat e Arber Hamidit janë paraqitur në bienalen e Shkupit 2012. Që nga janari 2014, në Komunën e Prishtinës, ai është Këshilltar i Drejtorit të Departamentit të Inspektimit.

Besnik is an architect from Ulcin, Montenegro. He graduated from the University of Sarajevo, master of Architecture. He worked in many architectural studios in Montenegro, Albania, Kosova, and Bosnia and Hercegovina. Co-founder of an NGO in Sarajevo and Co- organizer of commpetitions and workshops in Bosnia and Hercegovina. Besnik was tutor in many architectural workshops in Ballkan and currently is Assistant professor at Polis Architectural Universtiy in Tirana.

Besniku është arkitekt nga Ulqini, Mali i Zi. Ai u diplomua nga Universiteti i Sarajevës Mr. i Arkitekturës. Ai ka punuar në shumë studio të arkitekturës në Mal të Zi, Shqipëri, Kosovë dhe Bosnjë dhe Hercegovinë. Bashkë-themelues i OJQ-së në Sarajevë dhe bashkë organizator I konkurseve dhe punëtorive në Bosnjë dhe Hercegovinë. IDEAL VEJSA, MADEN GROUP Ideal Vejsa is the leader of Maden Group studio, since July 2009, when they start the book publishing initiative with the concept of projects of houses in cooperation with many new local architects. Later, in 2010, they published the second number with the same quality and success. In same year it was also elected as innovative company in Kosovo from Association of Architects of Kosovo. Over the years, to the group, there were added enthusiastic, innovative and creative architects and designers, who became effective incentive and contributors to the growth and strengthening of the studio and projects. The group was the winner of several local projects and participated in several international competitions. Maden Group, together with AAK and ONUP, was the initiator and organizer of the workshop organized in 2012 in Venice, Italy "Kosova in the Biennale - young architects”.

Parkingu i Pallatit të Rinisë, Kulturës dhe Sporteve, “Prishtina Start Up “ Parking Lot, “Prishtina Start Up”

Prishtina ka shumë potencial të pashfrytëzuar dhe të pazhvilluar. Lokacioni i kësaj punëtorie është hapësira që gjendet në anën e pasme të Pallatit të Rinisë, Kulturës dhe Sporteve; e cila është një prej hapësirave, që është identifikuar nga projekti “Prishtina – Qytet Dinamik”, hapësira të cilat janë përdorur si principe kryesore për zhvillimin urban. Që prej një kohe shumë të gjatë, kjo hapësirë ka qenë e braktisur. Si pasojë e mungesës së hapësirave për parkim në qytet, përkundër potencialit që kjo hapësirë ka si urë lidhëse për pjesët më jetike të qytetit, rishtazi ajo është transformuar në hapësirë për vendqëndrim automjetesh. Hapësira pas Pallatit të Rinisë, Kulturës dhe Sporteve mund të gjallërohet, me qendra komunitare dhe inkubatorë me zyra për punë, duke përfshirë dhe grupime hapësirash për komunitetin, dyqane, etj. Afërsia me Qendrën për Rini dhe Sport, do t'i shtonte vlerën e përgjithshme mjedisit urban të kësaj pjese të qytetit. Punëtoria, pra pati për qëllim të eksplorojë , t'i shtojë vlerë dhe ta avancojë konceptin e “Prishtina – Qytet Dinamik Start Up”, duke e orientuar drejt zgjidhjeve të qëndrueshme dhe të bazuara mbi parime që kanë për qëllim mbrojtjen e ambientit.

Prishtina has a lot of untapped and undeveloped potential. The site of this workshop is located on the back of the Palace of Youth, Culture and Sports; it is one of the areas that have been identified by "Prishtina Dynamic City", spaces which are used as main principles for urban development. Since a very long time, this area was abandoned. As a result of the lack of parking spaces in the city, despite the potential that this space has as a bridge to the most vital parts of the city, recently it has been transformed into a parking lot. The space behind the Sport and Youth center could be revived by a cluster of a community centers and incubators with office spaces, including collective facilities, shops etc. The proximity to the Center for Youth and Sport will increase the overall value of the urban environment of this part of the city. The workshop therefore sought to explore, to add value and to promote the concept of “Prishtina Dynamic City Start Up", orienting towards sustainable solutions and based on principles that aim to protect the environment.

Background: "PrishtinaDynamic City" (2013) The area behind Sport and Youth Center (previously an abandoned space, converted into a temporary parking lot over five years ago), is identified by the Project "PrishtinaDynamic City" (2013) as one of vital spaces that can be vitalized by a cluster of a 1) Public Community Center and 2) Incubators with work and office spaces, including 3) Collective facilities (studios) for young entrepreneurs. This proposal generates from a concept that identifies Knowledge and Education as key factors for Prishtina future development, and promotes three building typologies which are new in the city.

CONCEPT: "Prishtina Start Up " (Eco Week 2014)

Facade: structural 'Media tic'

We took it from here! The "Prishtina Start Up" could be developed through, and & 'Ventilated' facade therefore promote, the use of eco design/ sustainability principles. 'Media tic' is made of recyclable materials and has the ultra violet value of 85%. It is equipped with a sensor that localizes overheating and releases nitrogencloud that reduces the temperature, and protects the building from insulation and heating; it creates shades and a perfect working environment. It is a very i nv ent i v e fa รง a d e wi t h end l ess possibilities for combination of geometric forms. We redesigned the faรงade of two public buildings (Public Community Center, and Business Incubator with 'Media tic', while for the Collective facilities, we explored the Ventilated faรงade. The second one promotes thermal balance by reducing energy requirement to a minimum and guarantees considerably better appearance and performance standards than in the case of traditional building materials. We choose to use ventilated facade because, this type of facade enables "dry" installation of the covering elements and a wide range of design possibilities of the porcelain tiles' faรงade. 26

Renewables For our buildings to be self sufficient we have planned to incorporate several renewable energy sources aiming at interaction among three building typologies, by helping each other to sustain. We planned to use Photovoltaic (PV) cells to produce electricity. After the researches we concluded that 16 Kw/h is needed for our entire facility. So we are thinking to build a 20 kw/h Solar system in the roof of our Public Community Centre. For that, we will need 140 m2 area of 2000 m2 total area of the roof building. We have an example of a village in Germany that produces 321% more energy than it is needs, all this thanks to Photovoltaic cells and wind turbines. We have an average of 5.7 hours of insulation in a day (2080.5 h/year), which is more hours of sun than Germany ... Why not use that?! We also researched, hence, proposed to install a rain harvesting system. According to the statistics the average monthly rainfall in Prishtina varies from 29mm (in February) to 94mm (in September) and the annual average is 65mm. That translated to liters is 65 liters per m2. Hence, for our roof area approximately 2100 m2 we will have 136500 liters of water in a month. And we think that installing a 10000 liters tank under the ground would accommodate the needs for technical water for all buildings in the complex. In order to be more ecological and not using energy in the wrong way we plan also to mount a domestic water heating solar system in the roof.

Green Roofin & Urban farm "Better storm water management and improved water quality; Improved air quality; additional thermal insulation of buildings and cooling effect in the summer; looks great, increases biodiversity, enhances sound insulation..." We want to use all six roofs of Collective facilities' compound; they should include intensive green roofing and spaces for socializing through introduction of open space bars and reading areas that can be used by youth that live in this compound. Roofs could connect to each other through bridges, a good way to increase social cohesion and sharing. The roof of the business incubator is foreseen to develop urban agriculture. Part of this farm would be used to grow and promote eco products in parts of the complex where food is served, while the other part of the roof would accommodate the needs for experimenting in the business of agriculture by the incubating entrepreneurships which are accommodated inside the building. Our urban farm is rentable throughout the year; it will be covered with a 'Mediatic' faรงade structure during the winter, which will provide a dynamic building's envelope for the Business Incubator.

The Plateau of the Youth Palace in Prishtina

Eco is Nature – Nature is Vitality – Vitality is Life – Life is Perpetual. Between these different thesis is embodied the project idea for the Plateau of the Youth Palace in Prishtina. Recurrence to the genesis means understanding the first idea. We think that that's the most important journey. After an intellectual approach to these terms, this workshop tried to translate everything in space, looking for dynamics.

Platoja e Pallatit të Rinisë në Prishtinë Eko është Natyra – Natyra është gjallëri. Gjallëria është Jetë – Jeta është cikël i pafund. Projekt ideja për platonë e Pallatit të Rinisë mishërohet në këto teza. Rikthimi te gjeneza nënkupton njohjen e idesë fillestare. Ne mendojmë që ky është rrugëtimi më i rëndësishëm. ECOLOGY: Connection between organisms and their environment. Discussing the man, it strengthened in dimension of HUMAN ECOLOGY. It represents effects of MODERN CIVILIZATION in man. So ecology represents link between spatial environment and people. FUNCTION: Structure is projected like UNIFORM space, which links different environments in the city. It integrates in ORGANIC NETWORK, an inorganic environment. Enables participation of everybody PEDESTRIANS and BICYCLIST. It is comprehensive, spontaneous. independent and UNIQUE. It guarantees MYSTERIES and surprise. STURCTURE: Develops in organic way. constantly changing. Contains wood. which integrates with clambering plants. It has circular form, changes constantly in three dimensions. It has approximately 6m diameter. It will be realized with WOOD holders in longitudinal and transversal plan. It expands, narrows. extended and shrink. URBAN JUNGLE is result of nature and impact of man in the same time.

The National Library, Prishtina Biblioteka Kombëtare e Kosovës, Prishtinë The University Campus, although unfinished for a long time now, represents an important hub, not just for Prishtina, but for all of Kosovo. It embodies in itself, a part or perhaps all of the important cultural and artistic moments that Kosovo marks and reflects as its cultural and social achievements. The National Library is part of the campus, together with the Albanology Institute, the National Gallery and the faculties of the University. The building of the National Library, with its architectural features and its favorable position in the city center, has become the reference point for the city. Despite the development of projects for the space around the building, they were never implemented so this space is left unfulfilled. The purpose of this workshop was to reassert the area around the National Library, and its transformation from an impersonal and chaotic space, to a meaningful and representative public space for Kosovo citizens.

Ajo mishëron në vetvete, një pjesë ose ndoshta të gjitha momentet e rëndësishme kulturore dhe artistike, me të cilat Kosova shfaqet dhe shënjon rëndësinë e arritjeve të saj kulturore dhe shoqërore. Biblioteka Kombëtare është pjesë e Kompleksit Universitar, bashkë me Institutin Albanologjik, Galerinë Kombëtare të Arteve dhe Fakultetet e Universitetit të Prishtinës. Ndërtesa e Bibliotekës Kombëtare, me tiparet e saj arkitektonike dhe me pozicionin e saj të favorshëm në qendër të qytetit, është shndërruar në pikë reference për Prishtinën. Përkundër hartimit të projekteve për hapësirën përreth ndërtesës, ato nuk u zbatuan asnjëherë prandaj kjo hapësirë ka mbetur e paplotësuar. Qëllimi i kësaj punëtorie ishte rishpallja e hapësirës përreth Bibliotekës Kombëtare dhe shndërrimi i saj, nga një hapësirë e papërcaktuar dhe kaotike, në një vend kuptimplotë dhe përfaqësues për qytetarët e Kosovës.

Its public space serves as the main communication point between the parts of the city. The National Library has a dominant, central position on the campus. The campus comprises quite a large area, and consists of the majority of faculties of the University of Prishtina and related buildings. Even though the area is planned according to the city's urban structure, this public space still is not utilized to its full potential. The goal of our workshop was to discover what issues everyday users experience in the area and how we can fix them. The tripartite analysis consisted of familiarizing with the area through urban plans and maps of the area, field work and interviews with users of the space. During field work we tracked movement through the area, intensity of the people in different parts of the park, important landmarks and green areas. We paid attention to informal "intelligent" paths, benches, lightning, trash bins or, more specifically, the lack of those elements. We presented the analysis in form of layered maps that we sketched. The second part of the analysis was interviewing various actors in the area. Even though the buildings in the area can be considered contested sites (recently the unfinished Orthodox Church on the campus gains more attention than the questionable aesthetics of the National Library), the interviews showed that people wanted to connect with the area and other users of the space. People noted that lack of benches, trash bins and lightening disables social behavior in the area. According to the analysis we made, the problem was clear. The National Library divided the campus area in two halves. The southern part, which consists of the park and several resting areas, is used as a recreational area, respectively as a sociable environment. The northern part, however, is solely used for â&#x20AC;&#x201C; mostly pedestrian â&#x20AC;&#x201C; traffic from one part of campus and the city to the other. This creates a "void" in the area without any designated space means for recreation, socializing and fun. However, three abandoned paved circles were discovered in the northern part, proving the initial effort from the municipality to transform the area was already made but never fully realized. We chose to finish the work that the municipality left unfinished. With a small spatial intervention we wanted to steal a couple of minutes of time from the commuters. We wanted to raise curiosity, break the everyday rhythm and invite the users to experience the place in a new, different and fun way. The building material we were given were thick rectangular wooden poles, 4 and 2 meters tall, and rope. Because we wanted to translate the needs of the users directly into the construction, we decided to build not one, but a couple of elements. We started with the small chairs, which resemble the typical Kosovan "shkam". Next important element was the "Woodstock Bench". Woodstock Bench is a hexagonal shaped bench, which has different levels and offers an intimate circle to socialize in an open public space. Moreover, smaller prototypes of urban furniture were built to evoke different reactions from the users. These elements were the swings, a rather fancy trash bin, a floating flower basket, and an "orange-holder" net. The majority of the work was done on site which raised curiosity from the by-passers. The spontaneous interactions resulted in unplanned working actions with the team. The feedback from the everyday users was highly positive even before our work was finished and several people adopted the structures in the first day already. Our work proves that only little effort is needed to transform the 'space' of the campus area into a 'place'. Simple, robust and eco-friendly urban furniture has the potential to improve Prishtina University campus, especially if its conceptualization and construction will continue to engage the people that use the area every day. 34

Makina është projektuar në mënyrë të tillë, që udhëtimin tonë ta bëjë sa më të këndshëm, por sidoqoftë nuk është menduar se si mund të përfitojmë prej saj për sa kohë që ajo është e parkuar. A ekziston ndonjë mundësi që këtë pushtues të hapësirave publike, pra automjetin, ta shndërrojmë në diçka të vlefshëm për qytetarët? A mund ta shohim këtë problematike nga perspektiva e arkitekturës dhe parimeve të qëndrueshmërisë, me anë të së cilave mund të vijmë te zgjidhja? Punëtoria u përqëndrua në implementimin e teknikave të ndryshme të mendimit projektues, debateve rreth ideve dhe dinamikave grupore, për ta trajtuar në një mënyrë kreative sfidën e parkingut të Pejtonit.

Focusing on the local problematic of Pejton, the workshop participants are faced with a global problem the interaction of the city with its vehicles. A car is designed in such a way so that it makes our trip as pleasant as possible, but still we haven't thought yet about how we can benefit from it, as long as it is parked. Is there any possibility that this public space invader, the vehicle, we can turn into something valuable for the citizens? Can we approach this problem from the perspective of architecture and sustainability principles, by means of which we can come to a solution? The workshop focused on the implementation of different techniques of design thinking, ideas and debates about group dynamics, to tackle the challenge of Pejton parking, on a creative way.

Why don't we create something, which solves our problems For now, survives For decades and becomes part of our identity? / This is how we came with the idea of the Bollard Hats. Bollards happen to be placed allaround Prishtina. Their only function these days is to prevent the cars to park on the side walk, otherwise they just meaningless. That's the reason why we dedicated to modify them a bit. We already know that Prishtina is thinking of adding bollards in Peiton. Our only change is to make it multifunctional and we achieved it through our idea. Also, it's a proiect, which can be used on the existing ones so it's cheaper to apply them. Its unique design provides the ability to be changeable and removable, according to the situation. The tact that we came up with 100 ideas For these hats in less than 3 days tell that there are so many ways for them to be applied.

Michiel Smits Gie Steenput

Building with 'Bamboo' –Plateau of “Kurriz” Based on a course given on the Avans University of applied science; “Building with bamboo” investigated the possibilities of lightweight bamboo structures for the plateau of Kurriz. Under the guidance of bamboo experts Michiel Smits and Gie Steenput, the participants learned basic geometric designs and constructions with “bamboo sticks”. They investigated the possibilities of different geometric shapes and then developed strategies for “the plateau”. This workshop intended to attract the inhabitants of the location to work with the students towards solutions that improve the current monotone environment. In the same time showing how easy inhabitants are capable to claim the public territory for their own.

Green Market of Prishtina Tregu i Gjelbërt i Prishtinës

Prishtina's Green Market is demountable and lively, but in poor conditions for pedestrians and cars. For this reason the market was treated in two ways, in one hand the streets that pass through the market, and on the other hand the stores. The workshop analyzed the typologies of the shops, to see how the sustainable/green solutions are implemented. It explored the solutions that integrate the market with the historical tracks and routes that penetrate, aiming to overlay to the market a contemporary identity, despite the chaotic and non designed features that it has on this particular moment. The market should be treated as a body part of what constitutes the ensemble of the city, where all its parts interact with each other in a symbiotic way. The workshops goal was to produce a draft proposal for this market, designed with recycled materials, which included green spaces and gardens for the needs of traders; a project that would integrate the market in the city, so that even when it is not functional, it still offers an attractive space for pedestrians and become a meeting point for citizens.

Tregu i Gjelbërt i Prishtinës është i çmontueshëm dhe plot gjallëri, por njëkohësisht në gjendje të papëlqyeshme, veçanërisht për këmbësorët dhe për qarkullimin e automjeteve. Për këtë arsye tregu u trajtua në dy aspekte, në njërën anë rrugët që e përshkojnë tregun, dhe në anën tjetër dyqanet . Përgjatë punëtorisë u analizuan tipologjitë e dyqaneve, për të parë se si janë të zbatuara zgjidhjet e qëndrueshme/të gjelbërta . Punëtoria hulumtoi mbi zgjidhjet për integrimin e tregut me gjurmët historike dhe me rrugët që e përshkojnë, duke synuar që tregut t'i vishet një identitet bashkëkohor, përkundër tipareve kaotike dhe të pa projektuara që ai ka për momentin. Tregu duhet të trajtohet si pjesë e një organizmi që përbën tërësinë e qytetit, ku secila pjesë e qytetit ndërvepron me njëra tjetrën në mënyrë simbiotike. Punëtoria synoi të prodhojë një projekt-propozim për tregun, të projektuar me materiale të ricikluara, që përfshin hapësira të gjelbërta si dhe kopshte për nevojat e tregtarëve; projekt i cili do e integronte tregun në qytet, që edhe në rastet kur ai nuk është funksional, të ofrojë një hapësirë tërheqëse për këmbësorët si dhe të shndërrohet në një pikëtakim për qytetarët.

Pristhina Green Market (“green” meaning “vegetables market”) is colored, odorous and lively as markets are all over the world... but it is also very dirty and neglected and, as we find out, a kind of “privatization” process is going to take place in it... So what strategy shall we sug est to make the green market more “green” in this city whic is clearly changing a lot, in a too short time, loosing a lot of his character and identity? After the first day spent to visit the market and to map its activity, past and actual situation, we came up with the idea to activate a real process of change. We choose some strategic locations and we decided to clean them, to push out cars and to make space for beauty, imagination and poetry.

Maden Group

The Building of Termokos Since it was built, the Termokos building has remained abandoned and unused. It is located on the outskirts of the city, but nowadays this area has a great urbanarchitectural development. Situated on a very important intersection, the location where the structure stands serves as a bridge between the Dardania neighborhood, Emshir, the Bus Station and Dardania Primary School. The connection is achieved through surrounding streets that make this area quite frequented by citizens of the neighborhood and citizens from the other parts of the city. Faced with this situation, Maden Group took focus on highlighting the values of the structure's position, finding a temporary use, till a more permanent function of the building. During the workshop, the main topic were flexibility, multifunction and possibilities of creating a suitable environment that will continuously take different forms of exploitation (evolving the function). The working process was divided in two phases; the first phase proposing necessary interventions to the structure, while the second phase focused on the diversity of possible functions.

Ndërtesa e Termokosit Që prej ndërtimit, ndërtesa e Termokosit ka mbetur e braktisur dhe e papërdorur. Ajo ndodhet në periferi të qytetit, e cila kohëve të fundit ka pësuar një zhvillim të konsiderueshëm urban. Ndërtesa gjendet në një udhëkryq shumë të rëndësishëm, i cili shërben si lidhje për Lagjen Dardania, Lagjen Emshir, Stacionin e Autobusëve dhe Shkollën fillore “Dardania“. Rrugët, që gjenden përreth ndërtesës, gëzojnë një frekuentim shumë të madh prej banorëve të lagjeve si dhe qytetarëve të pjesëve të tjera të qytetit. Duke parë këto veçori të ndërtesës përkatësisht vendndodhjen, Grupi Maden u përqendrua në theksimin e vlerave që ky pozicion i jep ndërtesës, për të gjetur një përdorim të përkohshëm të kësaj godine, deri në përcaktimin e një funksioni të përhershëm për të. Gjatë punëtorisë, temat kryesore ishin fleksibiliteti, multifunksionaliteti dhe mundësitë e krijimit të një mjedisi të përshtatshëm që vazhdimisht do të marrë forma të ndryshme të shfrytëzimit (evoluon funksionin). Procesi i punës u nda në dy faza; faza e parë propozoi ndërhyrjet e nevojshme në strukturë, ndërsa faza e dytë u përqëndrua në shumëllojshmërinë e funksioneve të mundshme.

Participants: Bernard Nushi, Egzon Desku, Elina Manushi, Fiona Driza,Lisiena Shazivari, Lorenc Basho, Rina Zogjani, Senad Jamini TERMOKOS The abandoned Termokos building is located in the outskirts of Prishtina, in an area which is experiencing a great urb-architectural development. It is situated on a very important intersection serving as a bridge between the Dardania neighborhood, Emshir, Bus Station and Dardania Primary School. The building plot has almost a triangular form, bordered at north by Iliaz Kodra Street, at south west by "M2" highway and at south-east by a very frequented pedestrian path. Kosovo, including Pristina, experiences the four seasons with quite extreme temperature differences. Termokgs is a building made of prefabricated concrete structure and nothing else, no windows or roof shell. Taking this into account and 'the other characteristics of the place and the building, our focus was to find flexible solutions that can adapt to the existing conditions and the needs of the area nearby. Our goal was to come across temporary uses of the building, until a more permanent function is decided. Except the on finding a proper destination, we also worked in the outlook of the building in order to soften the brutality of its concrete structure. In the end, we have come to four main solutions where we tried to be ecological, temporal (they may also remain permanent), low- cost and practical. Except the proposals, we have also worked an installation inside the building. The aim of this creation is to show that we can make useful places.

1. SKATE PARK

1. Skate park After making the analysis ofthe problems and taking them all in consideration our final proposal was to convert the building of Termokos into a Sport Complex including the existing sportive fields nearby. We took in consideration the presence of the primary school “Dardania” and the neighborhoods close to the site and assumed the dominance of the youth. Taking into account the seasons the building will provide skateboarding during summer and ice-skating during the winter. 2. "The Temple of Dardania" Based on the analyses and the shape of the building, we created the concept of using the existing object as a “temple” and also as a botanic garden that creates a "lung" for the area to breath where its habitants can socialize and gather. The neighborhood "Dardania" encouraged us to name the object "The Temple of Dardania"'which also has a historical meaning. In order to make the object look less heavy and raise the curiosity to look 'what's happening inside'we decided to relocate some of the prefabricated panels and place them around the building. In order to provide a safe place during the night we decided to use lights which will also create beautiful architectural effects.

3. "THE BIRD NEST” 3. "The bird nest" The first proposal is about housing. Inspired by the bird nest, we have designed inhabitable capsules which will be joint in the external perimeter of the building. Inside the building is planned a reception and a relaxation park. The capsules are modeled to be removable and will be made by wood. Their interior is minimalist and practical. All capsules will be energy efficient and ecofriendly with solar panels and recycled water.

4. "The Spirit of Solidarity” The "The Spirit of Solidarity” is a contemporary expression of religious life and as such must be expressed in an equally modern architectural language. A mosque and church, under the same roof, and with it, a meeting place. The two religions have travelled different routes, but they actually have the same goals. They will each observe their own traditions, and will use these as a starting point for seeking out dialogue with each other and with those from outside the two faiths. This new address for praying and learning is place for dialogue and for all people of goodwill. Here, justice, peace and reconciliation will have a home.

ELIAS MESINAS Elias Messinas is a graduate of the Yale School of Architecture, Environmental Design Department of Bezalel Academy, and holds a doctorate from the National Technical University of Athens. He also attended a M.Sc. on Environment and Development at NTUA. His published research includes passive-solar retrofits in existing housing buildings in the desert, and the integrated development of an island in Greece. He teaches sustainable design at the Holon Institute of Technology and is the author of numerous articles, two books, and the editor of several catalogues and the first ECOWEEK publication. He has written and published extensively, lectured widely and has exhibited his work, research and travel sketchbooks in Europe and the US. Mr. Messinas is the founding chairman and coordinator of international NGO ECOWEEK, which he established in 2005.

Elias Messinas është diplomuar në Fakultetin e Yale, Departamenti i Dizajnit Mjedisor të Akademisë Bezalel, dhe mban doktoraturë nga Universiteti Kombëtar Teknik i Athinës. Gjithashtu ka ndjekur M.Sc. në drejtimin Mjedis dhe Zhvillim në NTUA. Hulumtimet e tij të publikuara përfshijnë komponente pasive-solare në objektet ekzistuese të banimit në shkretëtirë, dhe zhvillimin e integruar të një ishulli në Greqi. Është ligjërues i lëndës Dizajn i Qëndrueshëm në Institutin e Teknologjisë së Holon dhe autor i shumë artikujve, dy librave, dhe editor i disa katalogjeve dhe publikimit të parë të ECOWEEK. Ai ka shkruar, publikuar dhe ligjëruar edhe më gjerë, ka ekspozuar punën e tij, poashtu ka bërë hulumtime dhe skica të udhëtimeve të tij në Evropë dhe Amerikë. Z. JEAN ROBERT MAZAUD Born in France in 1953, Jean Robert MAZAUD has strongly stated his environmental concerns at the territorial scale, since the 1976 conference “Housing”, in Vancouver. With the creation of S'PACE Architecture in 1980, he put together a multi-disciplinary design team, whose main philosophy is based on a sustainable development concept that places man and his evolution at the heart of its concerns, integrating the environment as a strategic developmental axe. He currently develops, with his various teams (gathered under the name of BLUE), operational skills in management, environmental engineering and carbon management, dedicated to the regeneration of an architecture that strives to achieve harmony with heritage, landscape, citizens and their future. Without any doubt, his most prestigious reference is the work he did with Antoine GRUMBACH on the project Grand Pari(s) where he was responsible for all aspects concerning Post-Kyoto / Climate Change / Sustainability. He is co-founder of AFEX in 1996 (French Association of Architects for Exportation), member of the Council of Administration of the Building-Energy Foundation, member of the SB Alliance (Sustainable Building), UNEPSBCI member (Sustainable Building Climate Initiative) and CEO of the firms S'PACE Architecture, BLUE Holding, and F4CT (Carbon Engineering). Mr. Mazaud is also co-author of Architecture – Energie, Inspirations et Contraints (“Architecture: Energy, Inspirations and Constraints”), Edition S'PLOIT, 1986.

I lindur në Francë në vitin 1953, Jean Robert MAZAUD ka deklaruar fuqishëm shqetësimet e tij mjedisore në shkallë territoriale, që prej konferencës së vitit 1976 “Housing”, në Vankuver. Me krijimin e S'PACE Arkitekturë në vitin 1980, ai bashkoi një ekip multidisiplinar, filozofia kryesore e të cilëve është bazuar në një koncept të zhvillimit të qëndrueshëm, që e paraqet njeriun dhe evolucionin e tij në qendër të shqetësimeve, duke integruar mjedisin si një shkurtesë strategjike zhvillimore. Ai aktualisht zhvillon, me ekipet e tij të ndryshme (të mbledhura nën emrin e BLUE), aftësi operative në menaxhimin, inxhinierisë mjedisore dhe menaxhimit të karbonit, i dedikuar për rigjenerimin e një arkitekture që përpiqet të arrijë harmoninë me trashëgiminë, peizazhin, qytetarët dhe të ardhmen e tyre. Despoina Kouinoglou is a graduate of the Department of Agriculture; Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry, and Natural Environment, of “Aristotle” University of Thessaloniki, with focus on Horticulture and Viticulture and main specialization in Floriculture and Landscape Architecture. Her thesis examined the streams and rivers in urban and suburban environment, technical flood control projects, while her applied research focused on sustainable design in the landscape of the regional canal in Thessaloniki. She was an intern at the Aristotle University Farm, and the Apiculture Cooperative of Lesvos. She participated in many conferences and workshops, including ECOWEEK in London and Thessaloniki, and was an active member of the ECOWEEK GREENHOUSE in Thessaloniki in 2012. Ms. Kouinoglou is a member of the network Dialog, GreekTurkish Short Film Festival. She supports the organization of ECOWEEK in Thessaloniki.

Despoina Kouinoglou është e diplomuar në Departamentin të Agrikulturës; Fakulteti i Agrikulturës, Pylltarisë dhe Mjedisit Natyror, në Universitetin “Aristotle” të Selanikut, me fokus në Hortikulturë dhe Vreshtari dhe specializim kryesor në Florikulturë dhe Arkitekturë Peizazhi. Punimi i saj i diplomës shqyrtoi përrenj dhe lumenj në mjedisin urban dhe periferik, projekte teknike të kontrollit të përmbytjeve, ndërkohë që hulumtimi i saj ishte përqendruar në dizajn të qëndrueshëm në peisazhin e kanalit rajonal në Selanik. Ishte praktikante në Fermën e Universitetit Aristotel, dhe në Kooperativën e Bletarisë së Lesvos. Ka marrë pjesë në shumë konferenca dhe punëtori, duke përfshirë ECOWEEK në Londër dhe në Selanik, dhe ishte anëtare aktive e ECOWEEK GREENHOUSE në Selanik në vitin 2012. Znj. Kouinoglou është anëtare e rrjetit Dialog, Festivalit të Filmit të Shkurtër greko-turk. Ajo mbështet organizimin e ECOWEEK në Selanik.

DESPOINA KOUINOGLOU

NICOLA DELON Nicola Delon has been studying in Toulouse, Paris as well as at Université de Montréal and the McGill University of Montreal, Canada. At the age of 24, Mr. Delon co-founded with Julien Choppin the collective of architects, ENCORE HEUREUX, a generalist agency working on various scales, and various spatial, social, and urban issues. ENCORE HEUREUX's constant will is to put at the heart of its concerns the questions of use and comfort with a soft radicalism. In 2006, ENCORE HEUREUX was the laureate of the New Albums of Young Architects, an award granted by the Department of Culture and Communication to up-andcoming architects. He is the director of a fictional short movie, on the Private-Public Partnerships; designer of performances, ephemeral installations, urban games, furniture, books, pictures and exhibitions. He is the scientific curator for the exhibition Matière Grise (Grey Matter) at the Pavillon de l'Arsenal in Paris, an exhibition that questions the reuse of materials in the architectural and construction fields. In 2015, ENCORE HEUREUX was the laureate for the scenography concept of the COP21, “Sustainable Innovation Forum 2015”, an international climate conference that is held Paris.

Është kurator shkencor i ekspozitës Matière Grise (Masa Gri) në Pavionin “de l'Arsenal” në Paris, një ekspozitë që vë në dyshim ripërdorimin e materialeve në fushën arkitektonike dhe ndërtimore. Në vitin 2015, ENCORE HEUREUX u pëzgjodh për konceptin skenografik të COP21, “Forumi Inovativ i Qëndrueshmërisë 2015”, konferencë ndërkombëtare për ndryshimet klimatike, e cila mbahet në Paris.

MARGOT CLERC After a bachelor of Art in Nancy Fine Arts national school, Ms. Clerc graduated from a master degree of Architecture in Lyon. After a stint at “amàco” (pedagogy & research lab), she is now following on the post-master specialization training “Earthen architecture” (CRAterre-ENSAG). She is the assistant of Dominique Gauzin - Müller for TERRA Award, and is part of the team Studio Anna Heringer. The vision and the motivation, behind the work of the Studio Anna Heringer, is to explore and use architecture as a medium to strengthen cultural and individual confidence, to support local economies and to foster the ecological balance. Joyful living is a creative and active process, and Anna Heringer is deeply interested in the sustainable development of our society and our built environment. For her, sustainability is a synonym for beauty: a building that is harmonious in its design, structure, technique and use of materials, as well as with the location, the environment, the user and the socio-cultural context. This, for her, is what defines its sustainable and aesthetic value.

Pas përfundimit të nivelit bachelor në Art në shkollën kombëtare “Arteve të Bukura Nancy”, Znj. Clerc diplomoi me master të Arkitekturës në Lyon. Pas një pune në “amàco” (laborator kërkimor dhe pedagogjie), tani është duke ndjekur trajnimin e specializimit post- master “Arkitektura prej dheu” (CRAterre-ENSAG). Ajo është asistente e Dominique Gauzin - Müller për çmimin TERRA, dhe është pjesë e ekipit Studio Anna Heringer. Vizioni dhe motivi, për punën e Studio Anna Heringer, është të kërkojë dhe të përdorë arkitekturën, si një mjet për të forcuar vetëbesimin kulturor dhe individual, për të mbështetur strukturën lokale dhe për të nxitur ekuilibrin ekologjik. ARTAN RAÇA Artan Raça has graduated from Civil Engineering Faculty of Tirana, Department of Architecture in 1987. Until 1993, he worked as an architect near the Institute of Construction of Urban Design Studies, Tirana. After that, he established the studio “Raça Arkitektura” based in Tirana and began his career as freelance in the field of architecture and architecture design, activity that continues until today. Studio Raça Arkitektura works like a small workshop for a city architecture, where the answer to the concrete conditions creates the main language and dispatches his architecture from the auto referentiality in the idea of a predetermined style. Since 2013, he has been a visiting professor at Faculty of Architecture, Polis University. He takes active part in the architecture life and debate in Albania, with several articles published in newspapers on architecture. He was nominated for the European Award Mies van der Rohe 2013 in Barcelona, with the “Yellow Palace” project and is winner of the price “Albanian Architecture Prize 2014” granted by the Albanian Union of Architects and Urban Planners (AUA).

Artan Raça ka diplomuar në Universitetin Politeknik të Tiranës, Fakulteti i Inxhinierisë së Ndërtimit, Departamenti i Arkitekturës, në vitin 1987. Deri në vitin 1993, ka punuar pranë Institutit të Ndërtimit të Studimeve të Projektimit Urban, Tiranë. Pas saj, hapi studion “Raça Arkitektura”, e themeluar në Tiranë, dhe filloi karrierën e tij si i pavarur në arkitekturë dhe projektim arkitektonik, me të cilën vazhdon edhe sot. Studio Raça Arkitektura funksionon si një punëtori e vogël për një arkitekturë qyteti, ku përgjigja e kushteve konktrete krijon gjuhën kryesore dhe dërgon arkitekturën e tij, nga një auto referencialitet, në idenë e stilit të paracaktuar. Që nga 2013, ai është profesor i jashtëm në Fakultetin e Arkitekturës, në Universitetin Polis Tiranë. Është aktiv në jetën dhe debatet e arkitekturës në Shqipëri, me disa artikuj të publikuar në revista të arkitekturës. GYLER MYDYTI Gyler Mydyti is an architect and researcher. She got architecture degrees with honors, at the Istanbul Technical University (BSc) and Politecnico di Milano (MSc). Between 2007 and 2014, she has collaborated with Multiplicity lab. (Research Laboratory at the Department of Architecture and Urban Studies, Politecnico di Milano) and Milan based Studio “Basement15” (Architecture and Urban Design Studio). She has also accomplished other professional and research engagements in Istanbul and Paris. She is the coauthor of the 'Concrete Mushrooms' book/research project and author of various articles and academicals activities. She got her PhD degree cum laude in March 2014, in the program of Architectural Composition at Politecnico di Milano, where she has been a professor in Architectural and Town Planning Design Studios. While developing her dissertation on City-University relationship and their effect on large urban transformations, she has started to work on research projects related to the rapid growth and transformation of post-conflict cities, especially the ones in Kosovo. Her research interest intertwines between political implications in the morphological urban development of cities in transition and finding new strategies to balance the memoir of the past and visions for the future. Gyler is currently a consultant in the Urbanism and Planning Department of the Municipality of Prishtina and teaches urbanism courses at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture, University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina”.

Gyler Mydyti është arkitekte dhe hulumtuese. U diploma me nderime në arkitekturë në Universitetin Teknik të Stambollit (BSc) dhe në Politeknikun e Milanos (MSc). Ndërmjet viteve 2007 dhe 2014, ka bashkëpunuar me Laboratorin e Komunës (Laborator hulumtues në Departamentin e Arkitekturës dhe Studimeve Urbane, në Politeknikun e Milanos) dhe me Studion projektuese në Milano, “Basement15” (Studio për Arkitekturë dhe Dizajn Urban). Ajo gjithashtu ka kryer edhe angazhime tjera profesionale dhe kërkimore në Stamboll dhe Paris. Është bashkë-autore i librit/ projektit hulumtues 'Concrete Mushrooms' dhe autore e artikujve të ndryshëm dhe aktiviteteve akademike. Gyleri mori titullin e doktoraturës “cum laude” në Mars 2014, në programin “Kompozim Arkitektonik” në Politeknikun e Milanos, ku dhe ka dhënë mësim në Studiot e Arkitekturës dhe Urbanistikës. Gjatë zhvillimit të tezës në marrëdhëniet Qytet - Universitet dhe efektin e tyre mbi transformimet e mëdha urbane, Gyleri filloi të punojë në projekte hulumtuese që lidhen me rritjen e shpejtë dhe transformimin e qyteteve pas konfliktit, veçanërisht ato në Kosovë. Interesi i saj kërkimor gërshetohet në mes të implikimeve politike, në zhvillimin morfologjik urban të qyteteve në tranzicion dhe gjetjen e strategjive të reja, për të balancuar kujtimet e së kaluarës dhe vizioneve për të ardhmen. Katerina Mojanchevska is a PhD candidate at the International Institute of Social Studies, part of the Erasmus University of Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Her thesis focuses on the city of Skopje and the recent practices of ethnic identity accommodation in the design of public spaces and how does this affect the social dynamics of the city. Her educational background covers psychology and communication studies. She has a professional experience with the civil society sector in Macedonia, working on city policies and researches, in the wider field of cultural policy. Her research and professional interests encompass intersection among identity, public space, inter-culturally and urban policy.

Katerina Mojanchevska është kandidate e PhD në Institutin Ndërkombëtar të Studimeve Sociale, pjesë e Erasmus-it të Universitetit të Roterdamit, Hollandë. The Xhevdet Gegollaj presentation, founder of NGO “Fondacioni Jeshil”, aimed to inform the public on Permaculture, and its principles and ethical framework. Permaculture is a new discipline that uses design process to create productive, stable and diverse systems, by mimicking natural ecosystems. It is the harmonious integration of the landscape with people, providing their food, energy, shelter and other material and non-material needs in a sustainable way.

Plastic Bag is a short film directed by Ramin Bahrani. The film features the voice of German filmmaker Werner Herzog and an original score by Kjartan Sveinsson of the Icelandic rock band Sigur Rós. Plastic Bag premiered as the opening night film of Corto Cortissimo in the Venice Film Festival. It later screened at Telluride and the New York Film Festival. The film is part of the Independent Television Service (ITVS) online series Futurestates and was produced by Noruz Films and Gigantic Pictures.In a not too distant future, a Plastic Bag (voice of Werner Herzog) goes on an epic journey in search of its lost Maker, wondering if there is any point to life without her. The Bag encounters strange creatures, brief love in the sky, a colony of prophetic torn bags on a fence and the unknown. To be with its own kind, the Bag goes deep under the oceans into 500 nautical miles (930 km) of spinning garbage known as the North Pacific Trash Vortex.

BLU, the Bologna-based street artist and wall-art animator has made BIG BANG BIG BOOM documentary. As with his other work, BLU investigates the relationships between animation, artwork, and bringing urban space to life — this time using the twin tropes of evolution and catastrophic destruction as the framework upon which meaning takes its shape. BIG BANG BIG BOOM seems to point to a hopeless eternal return in which evolutionary violence and technological development lead to annihilation; on the other hand, there's a supremely hopeful quality to this video as well — the transformative power that's evident in the animation itself. The ability to imagine evolutionary history, to illustrate the possibility of our own destruction in a self-referential fashion that allows us to see the part we're playing in it, is also the possibility of the production of the necessary self-consciousness.

BLU, artist rrugësh me bazë në Bologna dhe animator i artit, është autor i dokumentarit BIG BANG BIG BOOM. Sikurse edhe me punët e tjera, BLU hulumton marrëdhëniet mes animacionit, veprave të artit, dhe sjellës në jetë të hapësirave urbane - këtë herë duke përdorur trope binjake të evolucionit dhe shkatërrimit katastrofik, si kornizë mbi të cilën kuptimi merr formë. Nga njëra anë, BIG BANG BOOM BIG duket se tregon një kthim të përjetshëm të pashpresë, në të cilën dhuna e evolucionit dhe zhvillimit teknologjik çon në asgjësim; nga ana tjetër, në video poashtu, ka një veçori të lartë të shpresës, si dhe - fuqia transformuese, që është e dukshme në vetë animacionin. In a certain neighbourhood of Prishtina, the students of this workshop have designed an ecological house, for a typical family of 4-6 members. The design task required the house to have its own identity, expressed through form and through the better adaptation to the local context, as well as the relation with the nature and environmental conditions. The proposals are designed in harmony with the elements of nature and shaped by local ecological materials (production and destruction of which, does not affect the environment). The workshop aimed to give to the participants a real experience in designing. The developing of the project-idea was made through a quick process, but systematized, organized and logical. Candidates are left with a useful experience for further professional career.

Në një lagje të caktuar të Prishtinës, studentët e kësaj punëtorie, kanë projektuar një shtëpi ekologjike, për një familje tipike me 4-6 anëtarë. Detyra e projektimit ka kërkuar, që shtëpia të ketë identitetin e vet, të shprehur nëpërmjet formës dhe duke iu përshtatur sa më mirë kontekstit lokal, si dhe raportit me natyrën e kushtet ambjentale. Propozimet janë konceptuar në harmoni me elementet e natyrës e janë formësuar me materiale ekologjike lokale (prodhimi dhe shkatërrimi i të cilave nuk cënon ambjentin). Punëtoria ka synuar, që pjesëmarrjësve t'ju japë një përvojë konkrete në projektim. Zhvillimi i idesë së projektit është bërë përmes një proçesi të shpejtë, por të sistemuar, të organizuar dhe llogjik. Gëzim Paçarizi was born in Prizren, Kosova. Since 1989, he has been living in Switzerland. He studied architecture in Prishtina and Geneva, and graduated at Geneva University in 1993. He has been working in more than thirty projects and competitions in Kosova and in Switzerland. He is a partner at “PHARC Architects” in Geneva and “POLITBYRO” (Paçarizi Architecture Studio) in Prishtina; member of SIA (Swiss Society of Architects) and REGA (Swiss Registre of Architects). His architecture design principles are the simplicity of form thought space and generously developed, with materials used in such a way that reveal their nature. Mr. Paçarizi is the curator of Kosova's pavilion of 2014, in Architecture Exhibition in Venice Biennial.

Brixhita Deda was born in Lezha, Albania, where she received her basic education. She moved to Tirana in 2008 to study architecture at Epoka University and upon graduation in 2013. She worked on an econeighborhood project in Tirana. She has been always concerned about sustainability, energy efficiency and eco-friendly solutions to the society. She is the co-author of some research papers about restoration, urban transformations, and green architecture possibilities in Albania. In 2014, she moved in Prishtina to work at POLITBYRO Architecture Studio.

TU Arnisa Kryeziu was born in the city of Gjakova. She finished primary and secondary school education in her hometown, followed by her university studies in Prishtina, Bachelor at University for Business and Technology (20072010). During the period 2011-2012, she was selected as an exchange student of Erasmus Mundus Scholarship Program at the University of Limerick, in Ireland. During 2013-2015 she studied at the zmir Institute of Technology, supported by the scholarship program of the Turkish government, where she graduated with the Master of Science title, on Architectural Restoration. Ms. Kryeziu continues to live in Prishtina, where she is currently working at the University for Business and Technology, as lecturer in the elective course Maintenance and Architectural Restoration and assistant professor at Studio Design Year 2.

Gëzim Pacarizi ka lindur në Prizren, Kosovë. Që nga viti 1989 ai jeton në Zvicër. Studioi arkitekturë në Prishtinë dhe Gjenevë, dhe diplomoi në Universitetin e Gjenevës në vitin 1993. Ai ka punuar, në më shumë se tridhjetë projekte dhe konkurse, në Kosovë e në Zvicër. Është partner në “PHARC Architects” në Gjenevë, dhe në “POLITBYRO” (Studio e Arkitekturës Paçarizi) në Prishtinë; anëtar i SIA (Swiss Society of Architects) dhe i REGA (Swiss Registre of Architects). Parimet e tij në arkitekturë janë thjeshtësia e formës përgjatë hapësirës dhe zhvillimi i bujshëm i saj, përmes materialeve, të përdorura në atë formë që dëftojnë natyrën e tyre. Z. Paçarizi është kurator i pavionit të Kosovës të 2014-ës, në Ekspozitën e Arkitekturës në Bienalen e Venedikut.

Në vitin 2014 u shpërngul në Prishtinë për të punuar në Studion e Arkitekturës POLITBYRO.

Arnisa Kryeziu u lind në Gjakovë. Arsimin fillor dhe të mesëm e kreu në qytetin e lindjes, duke vijuar me studimet universitare në Prishtinë, për Bachelor në Universitetin për Biznes dhe Teknologji (2007-2010). Gjatë periudhës një vjeçare 2011-2012, u përzgjodh në programin për shkëmbim studetësh të Erasmus Mundus, Programi i Bursave në Univeristetin e Limerikut, Irlandë. Gjatë viteve 2013-2015 ajo ndoqi studimet në Institutin të Teknologjisë së zmirit, në kuadër të programit të bursave dhënë nga qeverisa Turke, ku u diplomua me titullin Master i Shkencës në Restaurim Arkitekturor. Znj. Kryeziu vazhdon të jetojë në Prishtinë, ku punon në Univeristetin për Biznes dhe Teknologji, si ligjëruese në lëndën Mirëmbajtje dhe Restaurim Arkitektonik dhe si asistente në lëndën Studio Dizajn 2.

The workshop was very concentrated, within five days, a process that normally requires months or years. The work was arranged in such a way that the architectural design process would be as clear and visible as possible. The purpose of this workshop was not creativity, but the learning the process of designing step by step. So each day covered a topic, a stage of the process, a scale of architectural expression. TOPIC The project assignment was to design an ecological house: with local and natural materials that require less energy to produce - that is cheaper; small and functional spaces, compact building that have less energy loss; Houses that can be destroyed and materials can return to nature without pollution or cost. The quality of life within a qualitative architecture is the starting point for assignment. The project is based on vernacular architecture, inspired by traditional houses in Pristina, building techniques, local and natural materials. Given this, we brought a proposal with different spatial development, inner approach and compositional elements, according to nowadays - basic family needs. The challenge was how to adapt a modern architecture to improve aesthetically, functionally, ecologically and funancially an urban element / building performance. CONTEXT We chose a site plot in Prishtina, but the idea is that the project can be built anywhere in Kosova. The site plot is located in 'Lagjia e Muhaxhereve ', a neighborhood close to Pristina city center. The neighborhood morphology is basically composed of low residential building 1-4 story, with commercial use in the ground floor. The urban revitalization of the plot allows to create private garden for each of the houses, and to create an inner courtyard for the entire plot, to provide better accessibility. SCENARIO One of the most widespread phenomena in Kosova is the construction of some houses identical or very similar to some brothers. We take 4 clients imaginary, 4 brothers. They have bought a land lot in Prishtina. They want to build 4 houses. Each workshop group had to design a house. Based on the overall analysis (content, context, orientation) we proposed a volume of 9mx6mx6m (or 9m in height). 72

ECOLOGICAL ASPECT The houses will be designed with adequate access to these ecological aspects: -Organizing the spaces in harmony with the natural conditions, -Access to the heating - cooling, water drainage, ventilation - Local materials, such as: adobe for walls; straw or chaff for insulation; wood for structural reinforcements, roof and slabs; stone for basement and underground walls. -Building envelope houses should provide comfortable living and energy saving, -Adequate technical details and building construction techniques, which can reduce the cost of construction. Each building has a vertical ventilation circulation. Sloppy roofs, which are cantilevered 1 m on three sides, and 3m on the south orientation serves as a shading element during summer. The northern side of the roof, where the height is minimum, it facilitates the drainage of the rainfall to go to the ground and it distributes homogenously the water in the parcel through canals. Buildings are oriented to the south, to get the best radiation during the day. The pitched roof allows placing photovoltaic panels, which produce electrical supply for heating.

The topic of this workshop was the city of Prishtina, its urban and architectural condition. Students discovered the vitality of solutions that people have came out with, depending on the prerequisites of the city. It noted the relationship between new and old buildings, going beyond aesthetics in terms of "good taste". Despite numerous problems in urban planning, the focus has been on identifying the positive side of the processes of urbanization of the city, where many forces and interests meet in a dramatic crash. Students have documented random valuable proposals, which are often hidden in informal settlements covered by the "chaotic ugliness". The residents of the city are the first factor that determinates its needs, and therefore their informality, may be determining the future of architecture. The workshop explored the city, to analyze and find out, what the citizens of Prishtina want and look forward to; requirements that architects and urban planners should bear in mind during the design process.

Tema e kësaj punëtorie ishte qyteti i Prishtinës, situata e saj urbane dhe arkitektonike. Studentët zbuluan vitalitetin e zgjidhjeve, që kanë realizuar qytetarët në varësi të kushteve paraprake të qytetit. U vërejt raporti i ndërtesave të reja e të vjetra, duke shkuar përtej estetikës në kuptimin e “shijes së mirë”. Përkundër problemeve të shumta në planifikimin urban, përqëndrimi ka qenë në evidentimin e anës pozitive të proçeseve të urbanizimit të qytetit, ku shumë forca dhe interesa takohen në një përplasje dramatike. Studentët kanë dokumentuar propozimet e rastësishme, me vlerë, të cilat shpesh fshihen në ndërtimet informale të mbuluara nga “shëmtia kaotike”. Banorët e qytetit janë përcaktuesit e parë të nevojave të tij, prandaj dhe informaliteti i tyre, mund të jetë përcaktues i arkitekturës së të ardhmes. Punëtoria eksploroi qytetin, për të analizuar dhe gjetur se çfarë duan e kërkojnë qytetarët e Prishtinës; kërkesa që arkitektët e planifikuesit urbanë duhet të kenë parasysh gjatë proçesit të projektimit.

SOCIAL/PASSIVE RADICAL INTERVENTION

Fitore Isufi/KOJA has completed her studies, both Bachelor and Master studies, at the University of Prishtina, Faculty of Arts, in the field of Painting. Her work of art is mostly conceptual. She uses various mediums such as drawing, paintings, writings, installations, video and performances. In her work she treats social and cultural topics, which she combines with her personal experiences, as a reflection of the social, historical, cultural, and political climate, imposed by the country she operates in. Her work has been shown in various projects, individual and collective exhibitions, presentations and different workshops, at a local and international level. She attended art residencies in USA (International Studio and Curatorial Program, New York, USA) and France. KOJA currently teaches at the “Evolution” Academy in Prishtina.

Ajhan Bajmaku has studied in Istambul, at the Fine Arts University “Mimar Sinan”, in the field of Industrial Design. He also holds a doctorate from the same University on the Department of Interior. He teaches at University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina”, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture in the Department of Architecture, at UTB Collage and at the University Polis in Tirana, in the fields of creativity, interior and aesthetic space, based on conceptual construction and critical thinking. Mr. Bajmaku also works at the design studio “Archithink” on projects in Kosova, Turkey and Switzerland.

TU Miran Mohar is is an artist based in Ljubljana. He is a member of the Irwin Artists Group and cofounder of the Neue Slovenishe Kunst art collective, the graphic design studio New Collectivism and the Scipion Nasice Sisters Theatre. With other four members of Irwin (Dušan Mandic, Andrej Savski, Roman Uranjek and Borut Vogelnik) he has participated in all Irwin projects and exhibitions since 1984. As a member of the New Collectivism graphic design team he codesigned numerous books, posters and other graphic design products for many institutions. Since 1983 Mr. Mohar has made several set designs for the several theatre and dance companies. He is also co-founder and member of architectural movement “Maja Farol” and member of European Cultural Parliament since 2001. From 2008 he is also a lecturer, head of fine art department and vice-dean at AVA, Academy of Visual arts in Ljubljana. He is also a tutor at the SCCA-World of Art curatorial school.

Fitore Isufi/KOJA ka përfunduar studimet Bachelor dhe Master, në Universitetin e Prishtinës, Fakulteti i Arteve, në Pikturë. Puna e saj në art më së shumti është konceptuale. Ajo përdor mediumet e ndryshme, si vizatimi, piktura, shkrime, instalime, video dhe performanca. Në punën e saj, ajo trajton tema sociale dhe kulturore që i kombinon me përvojat e saj personale, si reflektim social, historik, kulturor, dhe politik, të imponuara nga vendi ku ajo vepron. Puna e saj është shfaqur në projekte të ndryshme, ekspozita individuale dhe kolektive, prezantime dhe punëtori të ndryshme, në nivel lokal dhe ndërkombëtar. Ajo mori pjesë në selitë e artit në SHBA (Studio Ndërkombëtare dhe Program Kuratorial, New York, SHBA) dhe Francë. Aktualisht KOJA jep mësim në Akademinë “Evolucion” në Prishtinë.

Ajhan Bajmaku ka mbaruar studimet në Stamboll, në Universitetin e Arteve të Bukura “Mimar Sinan” në drejtimin e Dizajnit Industrial. Ai gjithashtu ka doktoruar nga po i njëjti universitet, në departamentin e Interierit. Është ligjërues në Fakultetin e Ndërtimtarisë dhe Arkitekturës, në Universitetin e Prishtinës “Hasan Prishtina”, në Kolegjin UBT dhe në Universitetin Polis në Tiranë, në lëndët e kreativitetit, interierit dhe estetikës së hapësirës, duke u bazuar në ndërtimin konceptual dhe mendimin kritik. Z. Bajmaku poashtu vepron edhe në studion e dizajnit “Archithink” në projekte të realizuara në Kosovë, Turqi dhe Zvicër.

Miran Mohar është artist me bazë në Lubjanë. Është anëtar i grupit të artistëve Irwin dhe bashkëthemelues i artit kolektiv Neue Slovenishe Kunst, studio e dizajnit grafik Kolektivizmi i Ri dhe Teatrit Scipion Nasice Sisters. Nga viti 2008 ai është gjithashtu ligjërues, udhëheqës i departamentit të arteve të bukura dhe zëvendës-dekan në AVA, Akademia e Arteve Pamore në Lubjanë . In the spot where today is located the entry laura of Gërmia Park, the workshop developed the project of a minimal administrative building. The site and the importance of the typology of the object raise various architectural - environmental demands and restrictions. These conditions were identified and met with an emphasis on eco - principles. The participants gave suggestions of sustainable solutions, with local materials, judging by the conditions that the chosen urban site had. What's very important is the urban, social and architectural approach, which combined with the green design philosophy, creates a project proposal that affects with a big impact on the community.

Rozafa Basha is an architect and urban designer, graduated at the University of Prishtina and Lund University. She teaches in the Department of Architecture at the University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina”. Her professional commitment of 15 years includes the design of diverse buildings, as individual practice and as part of different design offices in Kosova. She has participated in various international postwar projects, reconstruction of damaged buildings from the war, on the management and administration of the projects of conversation of heritage buildings. Ms. Basha was part of many international teams of architects and artists in research, projects and publications. She also deals with public spaces activism and protection of cultural heritage.

Valentina Tahirsylaj was born in the city of Mitrovica. She is an Interior Architect, which studied Bachelor of Interior Design at Willem de Kooning Academy. Her main field of study for qualification is Major Interior Architecture, Spatial Design. During her studies she worked in two different interior architecture studios. After her graduation she started working at American Quality Construction Corporation in New York. Ms. Tahirsylaj has been working with many different types of projects including: corporate buildings, churches, senior housing, education facilities, renovating apartments and other private projects. She is currently working for De Mandemakers Group in the Netherlands, designing kitchens, large projects and low budget designs.

Rozafa Basha është arkitekte dhe urbaniste e diplomuar në Universitetin e Prishtinës dhe Universitetin e Lund-it. Është pedagoge në Departamentin e Arkitekturës në Universitetin e Prishtinës “Hasan Prishtina”. Angazhimi i saj profesional prej 15 vitesh përfshin projektimin e objekteve të ndryshme, si praktikë individuale dhe pjesë e zyrave të ndryshme të projektimit në Kosovë. Ka marrë pjesë në projekte të ndryshme ndërkombëtare të pasluftës, për rindërtimin e objekteve të dëmtuara nga lufta, në menaxhimin dhe administrimin e projekteve të ruajtjes së objekteve të trashëgimisë. Znj. Basha ka qenë pjesë e ekipeve të ndryshme ndërkombëtare të arkitektëve dhe artistëve, në hulumtime, projekte e publikime. Gjithashtu merret me aktivizëm për hapësirat publike dhe mbrojtjen e trashëgimisë kulturore.

Valentina Tahirsylaj u lind në Mitrovicë. Është arkitekte interieri, e cila studimet për Bachelor në Dizajn Interieri i kreu në Akademinë Willem de Kooning. Kualifikimi i saj është diplomë në Arkitekturë të Brendshme, Dizajn Hapësinor. Gjatë studimeve ajo nisi të punojë në dy studio të ndryshme të arkitekturës së interierit. Pas diplomimit, filloi të punojë në Korporatën Amerikane të Kualitetit Ndërtimor në New York. Znj. Tahirsylaj ka punuar me projekte të ndryshme të kësaj natyre, duke përfshirë: objekte korporatash, kisha, strehim të lartë, objekte arsimi, rinovimin e objekteve, si dhe projekte tjera private. Aktualisht është duke punuar për De Mandemakers Group në Hollandë, në dizenjim kuzhinash, në projekte të mëdha dhe në projekte me buxhet të ulët.

This workshop gathered together local artists, students, young professionals and the community, to make a mural with messages on sustainability and environmental issues. The workshop was conducted in collaboration with the design of public spaces of the Faculty of Architecture; this work was installed in the wall that surrounds these spaces. The colourful hands of the participants left traces on this wall. During the first days they worked with the design ideas and sketches, and then worked on the site for the installation of the project. This was a large involvement workshop, which aimed to work and have fun while transmitting through visuals and writings, educational and positive messages to the community environment.

Jetik Doli has graduated in the University of Prishtina "Hasan Prishtina", the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Department of Architecture in 2015. Now he is pursuing a master's degree at the same Faculty. Since 12 years now, he participates in various artistic projects; engaging as a designer, mural artist and other forms of Street Art in Kosovo and elsewhere in Europe, reflecting positively on street art. He constantly tries to create beauty, in those places that miss it, and to reflect enthusiasm on new generations of Kosovo.

Taulant Qerkini, also known as TAKI, is a graphic designer graduated in the University of Prishtina, "Hasan Prishtina", Faculty of Arts. Taki's work and projects, in various fields of art, are recognized internationally. He is a participant of artistic and architectural projects, in Kosovo and several European countries. He is a follower of geometric and vivid shapes, which give inspiration and positivity to the walls of the city. Taki is an artist of such works that give joy and good will, transmitting optimistic messages that can convey society in a more positive direction.

Që prej 12 vitesh tashmë, merr pjesë në projekte artistike të ndryshme; duke u angazhuar si dizajner, artist muralesh dhe forma të tjera të 'Street Art', në Kosovë dhe vende të tjera të Europës, duke refletuar pozitivisht në artin e rrugëve. Ai, rregullisht, përpiqet të krijojë të bukurën në ato vende ku mungon, dhe të reflektojë entuziazëm te gjeneratat e reja të Kosovës.

Taulant Qerkini, i njohur edhe si TAKI, është dizajner grafik i diplomuar në Univertistetin e Prishtinës 'Hasan Prishtina', Fakulteti i Arteve. This workshop was held in the public space of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of Prishtina. Taking the sustainability as a starting point, and looking at the area from a new perspective, the participants studied people on the move, people stand, sun, wind, shadows, protected areas and other elements. After these observations, through design of lighter structures, with reusable materials, new spaces were created and other spaces were highlighted. Through these structures, on various scales, various areas of the campus was redesigned, offering new spaces for entry, exit, break, meeting, conversation, waiting, research network, protection from rain, sun, shade and breeze enjoyment; so that they bring life to the public space of the school.

Duke marrë si pikënisje qëndrueshmërinë dhe duke e parë këtë hapësirë nga një kënd i ri, u studiuan njerëzit në lëvizje, njerëzit në qëndrim, dielli, era, hijet, hapësirat e mbrojtura dhe elementë të tjerë. Pas këtyre vëzhgimeve, përmes projektimit të strukturave të reja të lehta, me materiale të ripërdorshme, u krijuan hapësira të reja dhe u nxorrën në pah hapësira të tjera. Elias Messinas is a graduate of the Yale School of Architecture, Environmental Design Department of Bezalel Academy, and holds a doctorate from the National Technical University of Athens. He also attended a M.Sc. on Environment and Development at NTUA. His published research includes passive-solar retrofits in existing housing buildings in the desert, and the integrated development of an island in Greece. He teaches sustainable design at the Holon Institute of Technology and is the author of numerous articles, two books, and the editor of several catalogues and the first ECOWEEK publication. He has written and published extensively, lectured widely and has exhibited his work, research and travel sketchbooks in Europe and the US. Mr. Messinas is the founding chairman and coordinator of international NGO ECOWEEK, which he established in 2005.

Teuta Jashari Kajtazi is a graduated Engineer of Architecture and Master of Arts in Graphics. She also has a Doctoral studies at the Technical University in Vienna with the focus on the History and Theory of architecture. She is a lecturer at the University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina”, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture, in the courses Modern Architecture and Contemporary Trends, History of Architecture. She also leads the Program of Architecture at AAB College, teaching Eco Architecture and Sustainable Design. She has several scientific publications and was the member of the Scientific Committee - Architecture Biennale in Venice 2012, and as well has experience in preparation of Study Programs in Architecture and Interior design, Bachelor and Master level. Teuta is a member of AIA (International Associate of American Institute of Architects).

Elizabeta Poljoska finished her studies in architecture in the Faculty of Architecture in Skopje, Republic of Macedonia. Her interests range from recycling or reusing old or local materials into new designs, to urban, social and policy issues of cities, especially the city of Skopje, during the late changes of the new urbanization and reshaping process. After gaining practical experience while working in the private sector in several architecture studios, she continued her education at the Polis University in Tirana, where she acquired a Professional Master degree in Housing and Land Development. At this time she was working as a lecturer in Studio and Theory of Architecture, Urban and Landscape Design and Graphic Design courses. Ms. Poljoska is currently working in the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning of Macedonia.

Teuta Jashari Kajtazi është diplomuar si Inxhiniere-Arkitekte dhe Magjistër i Arteve në Grafikë. Gjithashtu studimet e doktoraturës i përfundoi në Universitetin Teknik të Vienës me fokus në Histori dhe Teori të Arkitekturës. Ajo është ligjëruese në Universititin e Prishtinës “Hasan Prishtina”, Fakulteti i Ndërtimtarisë dhe Arkitekturës, në lëndët Arkitektura Moderne dhe Trendet Bashkëkohore, Histori e Arkitekturës. Gjithashtu, ajo drejton programin e Arkitekturës në Kolegjin AAB, dhe ligjëron lëndën Eko Arkitektura dhe Dizajni i Qëndrueshëm. Ka disa publikime shkencore dhe ka qenë anëtare e Komitetit Shkencor Bienalja e Arkitekturës në Venedik 2012, si dhe ka përvojë në përgatitjen e programeve studimore në Arkitekturë dhe Dizajn të Interierit, në nivelin Bachelor dhe Master. Ajo është anëtare e AIA (Lidhja Ndërkombëtare e Institutit Amerikan të Arkitektëve).

Elizabeta Poljoska ka përfunduar studimet në Fakultetin e Arkitekturës në Shkup, Republika e Maqedonisë. Interesat e saj variojnë, nga riciklimi apo ripërdorimi i materialeve të përdorura ose atyre lokale në dizajne të reja, deri te çështjet urbane, sociale dhe politike të qyteteve, sidomos të qytetit të Shkupit, gjatë ndryshimeve të vona të urbanizimit të ri dhe proçesit të riorganizimit. Pas përvojës praktike, të marrë gjatë punës në sektorin privat, në disa studio të arkitekturës, ajo vazhdoi formimin e saj në Universitetin Polis në Tiranë, ku fitoi diplomën për Master Profesional për Strehim dhe Zhvillim të Tokës. Gjatë kësaj kohe ajo punonte si pedagoge në kurset: Studio dhe Teori e Arkitekturës, Dizajn Urban dhe Peisazhi dhe Dizajn Grafik. Znj. Poljoska, momentalisht, punon në Ministrinë e Mjedisit dhe Planifikimit Hapësinor të Maqedonisë.

Project takes place in the campus of faculty of architecture, University of Prishtina. Precisely, it’s the area in-between the building of faculty and the outdoor of primary school next to it. There are two main entrances to the campus, one that goes through the parking lot which is located in its south-west and the other one goes between two buildings, one of them ministry building and the other one the academy of sciences and arts, which is in site’s north-western part. Given this exact point, which is relatively visible from both entrances, the decision was made to fulfill three purposes. First one, is making it functional and useful. Second one, is making the area visible and attractive for people walking by. The last one, is making the site comfortable and attractive enough for sitting there. Campus’s needs were put in as : a multi-purpose sitting area and a parking place for bicycles. As for bicycles, it was decided to be put in front of the faculty, where there will be less security concerns. Tires were used to park the bikes. Next to the bikes, the old trees were connected with a tworow chain holding plastic boxes covered with fabric which serves for sitting. To continue with, from a branch of a tree two ropes hang a tire as a swinging chair. This resulted in a better connection of the faculty entrance with the lecturing hall, by giving purpose to it. As for the project area, where the sitting was to take place, concept used the slope of the terrain. Level change makes the area look as it is falling down from the corner to the existing path connection. Upon this, once- a dead corner site, a very regular spider web was sewed up, which occupies the end triangle. Moreover, sitting units are placed, as they are “melting down” with the slope, so the further ones from the path will be higher and closer to the path sitting units will get lower. Looked from the path there are a few sitting units all visible because of the slope and the rhythm of spider web attracts a visitor. To make the site more clear and more attractive in the corner which is seen from the two main entrances a metal tree was installed. It rests upon two tires and is planned to hang an ivy tree around it. There are two paths leading to the site. One is an existing one which goes around the faculty, and the other one which is made of wood, colored glass bottles and broken mosaic texture ceramics. Lastly, to make the faculty noticeable of its branch, murals are used to show its creativity, functionality and the colorful world in architecture.

There are currently 14 seconded and 95 local staff and 11 CIM experts working in Kosovo.In February 2008, the Republic of Kosovo, with a population of around 1.9 million, became the youngest independent country in Europe. After years of civil war and ethnic conflict, the country has embarked on a process of political and economic Transition. GIZ advises and supports Kosovo in its endeavours to achieve political stability and democracy based on the rule of law. Support is also being provided for economic development, higher educational standards, a more efficient and decentralised public administration and a more reliable water supply. The overarching long-term goal is Kosovo's integration into the European Union.The pillars of the Government of Kosovo's programme include economic development, employment and welfare; the rule of law; the European agenda and Foreign policy; and education, science, culture, youth and sports. They are supported by the priority areas of cooperation between Germany and Kosovo: · Sustainable economic development - Economic development and employment promotion (improving competitiveness), regional economic development, vocational training · Public administration, democracy, civil society - Land management/development of land registers, promotion of municipal services, reform of the public finance system, legal reform, EU integration, development of youth work structures · Education: basic education Integrating Kosovo into initiatives and networks for the entire region is also a priority. SUPPORTING PARTNERS SHARRCEM Sharrcem was founded in 1936 consisting of one vertical kiln with a production capacity of 4,415 tons per year. Sharrcem was acquired by TITAN Group in 2010, following Kosovo's privatization process. It is the only cement plant in the country, located by the southern border. In 2010, it became a member of TITAN Group and remains the leading supplier of cement in Kosovo. A year after being acquired by TITAN Group, Sharrcem significantly upgraded its innovations in technology for the production of raw materials and cement and initiated the application of high standards, integrated at all operating levels. Titan Group considers sustainability to be one of the most important matters of our time. As such, the Group has successfully embedded social responsibility and sustainability practices into its operations. Additionally, the Group is closely involved in the most up to date sustainability initiatives by being part of WBCSD and CSI. Directly, with a strong representation in all the task forces of the CSI and co-chairing two of them, the Group is taking a leading role in contributing to the development of the latest practices in sustainable cement production. Continuing the commitment to operate based on Group Values since 2010; sustainability remains one of the most important components of Sharrcem and the way it operates in the market. As a result, in 2013 the company proceeded to get certified in ISO 18001 (for Occupational Health and Safety) and ISO 140001 (for Environment) demonstrating the commitment to sustainable development. In 2014, the company was awarded with the IPPC License (Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control), the first of its kind in the country, setting the standard for the heavy industry sector in Kosovo to follow. To follow up on the commitment and ensure full compliance with all the business units of the Titan Group, the company proceeded to complete a full Audit of its sustainability and corporate responsibility performance initiatives conducted by an independent third party (DNV). The company continues to develop new ways of decreasing its environmental footprint and increasing the safety culture and community engagements.

KONRAD-ADENAUER-STIFTUNG (KAS) The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) is a political foundation. In Germany, 16 regional offices and two conference centers offer a wide variety of civic education conferences and events. Our offices abroad are in charge of over 200 projects in more than 120 countries. The foundation's headquarters are situated in Sankt Augustin near Bonn, and also in Berlin. There, an additional conference center, named “The Academy”, was opened in 1998. We are proud to bear the name of Konrad Adenauer. The first chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany's name and principles are our guidelines, duty, and obligation. Established in 1955 as “Society for Christian-Democratic Civic Education”, the Foundation took on the name of the first Federal Chancellor in 1964. As a think-tank and consulting agency, our soundly researched scientific fundamental concepts and current analyses are meant to offer a basis for possible political action. The Berlin Academy is the national forum of dialogue between the spheres of politics, economy, science, and society. Exhibitions, readings, and awards are also distinctive elements of our work. We promote young artists, and annually award our prestigious Literary Prize. Our scholarship programs help young journalists by offering them projects specifically geared to their needs. Since 1980, we have annually awarded a prize for excellent local journalism. Since 2002, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung has awarded its “Prize Social Market Economy” to personalities of exceptional merit in safeguarding and developing the social market economy.
