The Personal Learning Plan is a compulsory subject studied in Year 10 worth 10 credits at Stage 1. Students need to achieve a C grade or higher to gain the SACE. This course provides an opportunity for students to explore the world of work in both a practical and theoretical manner. The Personal Learning Plan gives students the chance to identify their plans and goals for the future, helping them to make informed decisions about personal development opportunities, education and training.
This subject provides a chance to explore university, vocational training, apprenticeship or traineeship courses and develop plans for the future through involving students in activities such as: • exploring personal and learning goals • investigating possible career choices • selecting subjects, courses, and other learning relevant to pathways through and beyond school • completion of a Work Experience placement or volunteer activity
Stage 1 Personal Learning Plan (PLP)
Length of Course: Full year (10 credits) Compulsory, completed in Year 10
Assessment Folio Tasks which demonstrate: • an understanding of the SACE capabilities • the development of personal and learning goals • practical application of a range of work related skills and attributes Reflection - students reflect on: • their personal and learning goals • the effectiveness of the strategies they developed to achieve their goals • their abilities, interest and skills relevant to possible career options
Students share their reflections with their parent/ caregiver and Care Group Teacher during a round table conference in Term 3.
