“Music is … A higher revelation than all wisdom & philosophy” Ludwig van Beethoven
To encourage the uptake of wind instruments (flute, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, clarinet, trumpet, trombone), Endeavour College offers 50% off wind instrument tuition and hire for Year 7s only. This is a great opportunity to experience the Music Program at a more affordable price. If your child already plays an instrument, it’s also a more affordable way for them to try out a second instrument.
A variety of our ensembles feature wind instruments, including class bands, the Middle Years Band and Big Band. Wind instruments are less commonly offered in primary school settings, and as a result, very few students play them when they first come to Endeavour.
If your child is interested in exploring Music, but are not sure what instrument to play, the Come and Try night is for you.
Those who are interested in learning an instrument are invited to our Come and Try Instrument Workshop, which will be held on Wednesday 15 October from 4:30pm-6:30pm
If your child is selecting Specialist Music in Year 7, this workshop is a essential event to attend (even if your child already plays an instrument). Our vocal teacher will also be at the workshop.
At this workshop, students will get to physically try many of our instruments and receive recommendations from our instrumental tutors regarding which ones they are best suited to (particularly important with wind instruments). This is also where they will have the opportunity to fill out an instrument preference form.
Students who are unsure about whether they even want learn an instrument are encouraged to come along, as the workshop may help them to make up their mind.
After the Come and Try Workshop, we will go through all instrument preference sheets and look at the recommendations from our instrumental team. We will then recommend an instrument for your child via email with an attached tuition form for you to sign up for the lessons. Our objective is to get a mixture of different instruments within our Music classes, but also to ensure that students aren’t picking an instrument that they may struggle with.
If you cannot attend the Come and Try Workshop but know that your child wants to enrol in tuition on their current instrument, please contact the Music Assistant directly for a tuition form (nicole.molloy@endeavour.sa.edu.au)
If enrolling in tuition, parents need to acquire an instrument, either by purchase or hire. Hiring can be a good way to start if you would like to be sure that your child is committed to their instrument before making the financial commitment to buy one.
Endeavour has a selection of instruments for hire. Our current prices for instrument hire are as follows:
• Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, Trombone, Bass Guitar & Amp, Violin, Viola: $90 per term
• Alto saxophone, Tenor Saxophone, Cello: $100 per term
• Year 7s hiring woodwind or brass instruments receive a 50% subsidy on instrument hire.
• 2026 Tuition Prices are set at $36.00 per 30min lesson ($18 for Year 7 woodwind and brass students)
• We do not hire out drum kits or keyboards.
If you are considering buying an instrument, please buy a good quality student model, as cheap instruments are usually of poorer quality, making them much more difficult to play.
Contact the Music Department if you would like a list of recommended brands for each instrument.
• Junior Vocal Ensemble – this is a choir open to all Year 7, 8 and 9 students which runs one lunchtime per week throughout the year

This band is open to all students in Year 7-9 ( (all instruments are welcome but predominantly Wind). This band will be run if there is enough interest from students. It is designed to provide a continuation of the Specialist Music program for students who complete this subject in Semester 1 and wish to continue to be part of a band in Semester 2.
For students with experience (mostly seniors but can also include Year 7s), we also have a variety of different groups, including String Ensemble, Show Band (Senior Concert Band), Big Band, Flute Ensemble and some Funk and Rock bands.
