A POLISH man received a prison sentence after falling asleep in his car which was positioned in the middle of a road. ARE you brave enough to take a Christmas dip? time raise funds that will make a difference to the lives of street and slum children in Calcutta. The Hope Foundation, set up in 1999 to raise funds for one girls’ home, now works with 16 Indian NGO partners to rescue thousands of children from the streets and slums of Kolkata (Calcutta) in India, improve their quality of life, and give them a better future. Today, The Hope Foundation funds 64 projects including
education; primary healthcare; shelter; vocational training; child protection; and drugs rehabilitation; and has reached out to over 22,000 children through education alone, and hundreds of thousands more through primary healthcare, in partnership with Irish Aid. The court heard how the defendant’s car was running at the time and posed a serious hazard to oncoming traffic.

Mr. Szudrawy was later taken to Midleton Garda station where he failed a breathalyser test.
The defendant has been living and working in Midleton for a number of years. He has no previous convictions.

Judge Michael Pattwell imposed a prison sentence of 14 days and urged Mr Szudrawy to stay off alcohol.
