t is a bizarre paradox of contemporary life that those with the biggest stake in the future of our planet are the most likely to be left out of public conversations about it. With the notable exception of Greta Thunberg, young people are all too often ignored when it comes to discussions and decisions about climate change, sustainability, and the protection of our fragile ecology. Redressing this fundamental inequality might seem like an overwhelming task, but one Byronbased project is seeking to just that. Ocean Voices (OV) is inviting local young people to be part of a youth collective that isn’t just aiming to be part of the conversation, it seeks to set the agenda.
