The Beach Hotel has sold to Investment giant Moelis, say Melbourne public relations company Sumit Media. Bids exceeded $100m, they claim, adding ‘The freehold last changed hands in 2017 with funds manager Impact Investment Group purchasing the buildings for $70m. The operating business, or leasehold, has been owned and managed by Melbourne’s famous van Haandel family since 2007’. Q Q Q Q

said that Arthur’s contribution (and that of his wife Margaret) ‘has been the epitome of community service. He is always available, will do anything, and is always positive’.

Remember Julian Assange? He’s an Aussie who exposed the terrorist activities of the world’s governments through Wikileaks. Because exposing crimes is a crime (why?), he’s been in jail (solitary confinement) since being dragged from the Ecuadorian embassy in the UK last April. His father John Shipton will speak in Mullum on Sunday, December 8 from 7pm at the Mullum Ex-Services Club. The event is hosted by the Ngara Institute, and more info is available at www.ngarainstitute.org.au.
