Backlash It looks like some countries take the welfare of their bees a little more seriously than others. In an attempt to help their furry flying friends as well as help keep the air clean the city of Utrecht in Holland has covered the rooftops of 316 bus stops in plants. Q Q Q Q Including

Worried about the fires? Join the Rural Fire Service (RFS: www.rfs.nsw.gov.au) and State Emergency Services (SES: www.ses.nsw.gov.au). The people who are in them defending your properties and lives are just like you. You could be there helping make a difference next time. So regardless of the outcomes of this fire make sure you join your local community in protecting itself by getting yourself trained up and ready for a future of climate change. Don’t leave the solutions, protection and hard work to the magical ‘other’ people and unicorns. They are just the ones who have faced their fears and cared enough to get off their backsides and take action. All genders, races, and sexual orientations welcome. Q Q Q Q

While the world at large continues to see the failure of the current ‘War on Drugs’ that is irresponsibly killing people around the globe the NSW police commissioner is stuck in his habits. Rather than recognising that ‘just say no’ has failed he says, ‘pill testing provides a false confidence to an individual that the drug they want to take is safe… All illegal substances carry the risk of harming, or ultimately killing, the user’. The Knitting Nannas Against Gas (KNAG) are all about saving the land, air and water for the kiddies. This year they are producing the 2020 Nanna Beach Calendar (only $20) to raise funds for their good work. Alas, Nanna Felicity hasn’t been able to make it to the beach for the calendar shoot – she is too busy dealing with the residue of the September fires at Drake. To pre-order a copy of the calendar and see Felicity’s ‘beach’ shoot, email knnnag@ gmail.com or see that Nanna at the next Lismore carboot market. Budj Bim is an example of ancient Aboriginal aquaculture and hydraulic engineering that has been carbon dated to 6,600 years old and has been given world heritage status. The site, located in southwest Victoria, is a vast network of weirs, dams and stone canals that were designed to force eels and other aquatic life into traps. The age of the site means it predates other ancient engineering sites like the Egyptian pyramids or Stonehenge. See more online at: https://bit.ly/2X4k0ow
