A distressed reader called The Echo office during the week to say she had seen a large male echidna dead on the road, heading out of Byron, and saw another dead specimen not far away the next day. Trump’s attempt to disband a group of top scientists who were tasked with reviewing the US air quality standards has been trumped. When they were disbanded, the group which includes some of the nations top scientists, came back together in a volunteer capacity to continue their work. ‘This is the first time in the history of the EPA where the credibility of the agency’s science review process has been so compromised that an independent panel of experts has recognised the need for, and will be conducting, a comprehensive review,’ said Chris Zarba, who once served as director of the EPA’s Science Advisory Board (www.ecowatch.com). Give me your sceptics, your doubters,/ Your hungering masses yearning to be carbon free,/ The wretched refusers and your climate refuters./ Send these, the conflicted, temper-lost to me,/ I lift The Echo beside that which matters! Photo Tree Faerie every five minutes. A passionate 79 year old PHD student developed The Roadkill Reporter app to help map roadkill hot spots.

Everything from bananas and cucumbers to asparagus and lettuce are now cosily wrapped in banana leaves and twine for a sustainable packaging alternative. They are even looking at how to wrap meat in banana leaves.
