MOVING RIGHT ALONG… So you’ve found your new home… now for the move. Here’s some simple tips to help make moving easy. 1 Call in the cavalry! Some of your

friends will be more than willing to lend a hand. Look after them with snacks and drinks and shout them dinner at the end of the day. Otherwise you can hand the whole job over to professional removalists. (See the Echo’s service directory.)

2

Be smart! Have everything at hand before you start packing. Use your suitcases, baskets for some items. Proper moving boxes are expensive, but many removalists sell second hand ones for as little as a dollar. Make sure you have packing-tape, markers and scissors – a few of each. A packingtape dispenser saves an enormous

amount of time and the frustration of spending 5 minutes trying to find the end of the tape.

3 Throw as you go. While you’re

packing, identify things that you won’t need in your new place. Rule of thumb: if it has no sentimental value and you haven’t used it in the last 12 months it is time to give that item a new home. Make piles for sell, throw, donate.

4

Have the right gear. Assess the amount you’re moving. Talk to some experts about the size of trailer or van or truck you’ll need. You’ll also benefit from hiring a trolley for easier lifting and carrying.

5

Label well. Pack and label a box with all your essentials so you can go straight to it on your first night. Then label each box in as much detail as you need. You think you’ll remember but after 40 boxes, some not packed you, you may not. Moving can be overwhelming and tedious but with a little advanced planning and a good bunch of friends, I can’t say it will be fun but it will be much less painful.

Right on the edge of Water Lily Park, this fabulous modern home is waiting for its new family. Light fills the living areas, coming in from the double height gallery windows. The kitchen is great, there is plenty of drawer storage and a big bench for pulling up a stool. Open plan living and dining areas flow out on to the back deck with views over the adjoining park and lake. The rest of the downstairs accommodation comprises a luxurious master suite, enjoying the same outlook and a walk-through robe leading in to a spacious bathroom. The second level has a wide gallery style landing area overlooking the void and living space. The two large upstairs bedrooms and family bathroom are all bright and have heaps of storage.
