Thank you Craig A big thank you to Craig at the Brunswick Heads Surf Club who assisted me with a lost special-needs boy on Christmas Day. It was 5pm, which is the time the surf life savers finish up. Craig took me in a buggy and we found the boy swimming by himself but otherwise unharmed. The boy was chuffed to get a ride back on the buggy as he had an injured knee. Great effort, Craig. ÈĶſƐƖëō ǖ şƱĕſ I unfortunately had to present on 23 December 2018 at the Byron Bay hospital owing to a gardening accident involving a lack of co-ordination and a pair of rather sharp gardening shears. I was seen remarkably quickly
by triage and Dr Absolutely Zappy (AZ), who was incredibly brilliant, a quick anaesthetic needle, and five stitches with the delivery of some sound advice on posttreatment management – so as to avoid infection. All advice was soundly followed and recovery proceeded perfectly. A big thankyou to all the incredible staff and Dr AZ. Tana Parker Point Cook
mş ōşưĕ şĪ ŕĶīIJƐ ōĶīIJƐƆ For far too long, Bruns residents have endured the lurid lighting and intrusive noise of the visiting carnival that consumes most of Banner Park. In fact, given they operate every night for seven weeks, can they be called visiting? Many of us think it’s time
to review their domination of the cultural landscape at a time when residents too would like to enjoy their town. And before you push the ‘tradition’ button, ask yourselves if you would like them outside your front door every night for seven weeks! Maybe they could come for the woodchop festival and return Banner Park at Christmas time to the residents and visiting families who enjoy the sounds of nature over tinsel music and flashing lighting. behaved similarly (‘Little girl/ boy: Would you like $100…’) they would be hunted down and charged with child abduction and possibly child abuse. Why does SU get away with this kind of despicable behaviour? It’s bad enough that they try to recruit children in order to poison their minds with sky-god bullshit, but the fact that the’re now offering considerable financial incentives to ‘follow Jesus’ just demonstrates how desperate the increasingly irrelevant churches are becoming. Such operations ought not to be allowed on public lands! Gordon Balfour Haynes Federal
Ķſćŕć żſĶĈĶŕī There has been much discussion about Airbnb and online bookings. I would like to raise the issue of pricing. I recently made an Airbnb booking in Victoria. Price listed including fees and taxes was $350. The amount deducted from VISA was $513. There was no indication that the price was USD and no option to choose a currency. I have sent a complaint to Consumer Affairs. Is this a common occurrence? Are we being deliberately misled? Just another reason to avoid the offshore accommodation listings.
