1. Project requirement and challenges.

The width of the road is 31M with 4 lanes in middle which is to be lighted up by two solar lights from different sides. The height of the pole is about 10 meters around, and a smaller power solar light will be fixed at 6~7m height on same pole of light for 4 lanes Based on this basic requirement, if using normal series of solar led street light , there will be a few big challenges that we have to solve as below shows.

Challenge 1 High Power Consumption

Challenge 2 Solar Panel is too big

Based on the power of normal led light consumption, total power is 130W, if it works 6 hours with 100% power and 6 hours 50% power every night, the total power consumption is 1350WH.

In order to meet the daily power consumption, based on existing technology of solar panel.

The valid sunshine radiation time in Philippines is 4.5 hours only. So in ideal situation, the solar panel need to be 1350WH/4.5H = 300W at least.

It is not very easy to fix a such big solar panel on 10m pole which is like a big umbrella over the pole top.

The size of 300W is 1956*992*50mm

* Challenge 3 Wind resistance if big solar panel

Typhoons are very frequent in the Philippines, and the 10-high streetlight poles installed on ordinary large solar panels are very dangerous and can easily be blown off by strong winds. Cause other potential dangers.

Ă˜ 2. Our Solution with new design.

7.5M pole is not a high pole, based on the lighting simulation that our engineer worked on, we do not need a very high power for two light heads. In order to have a good performance of lighting.

Based on the calculation above, we hereby propose the below data sheet for this system.

We suggest: 1: THOR 80W 10800lm to use on10M height.

2: HELIOS 50W 6000lm to be used on 7M height

Three cylinder solar modular will be used for one pole, 2 of modular is for 80W and one is for 50W.

If lights are working in lighting programs as below: 80w:6 hours 100% full brightness +6hours 50% brightness, the power consumption will be 80W Daily Power Consumption = 80W*6H*100%+ 80W*6H*50%=720WH 50W:6 hours 100% full brightness +6hours 50% brightness, the power consumption will be 50W Daily Power Consumption = 50W*6H*100%+ 50W*6H*50% =450WH Total power consumption is : 720WH+450WH = 1170WH The valid solar radiation hours in Philippines is 4.5hours.

So in ideal situation we need solar panel power is: 1170WH/4.5H=260W, Considering the rainy days and sometimes cloudy days, and the valid area of solar panel is 50% only. So we suggest the total power of cylinder modular should be 500W~600W.

Customer can arrange the pole locally to reduce the cost, because the solar panel is fixed on pole in vertical direction. There will be no dust on panel even after 1 year. And very easy to clean it.
