Last Time Out
The Purple and Gold are coming off a 47-46 loss to Empire 8 Conference foe Hartwick College last weekend. In a game that came down to the wire, the EC women were unable to capitalize on the gamewinning shot, from distance, as the shot bounced off the rim with one second remaining in regulation. Danielle Cleary ’18 led the Soaring Eagles on offense with 20 points while Alex Balara ’15 chipped in with 14 points and seven rebounds.
Loya’s Rebounding
Against Hartwick College, Meghan Loya ’16 tallied a game-high 15 rebounds. This is the most rebounds that Loya has grabbed since pulling down 17 boards in the season openor against the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford on November 15th. With an average of 8.8 rebounds per game, she ranks fourth in the Empire 8 Conference.
Empire 8 Rookie of the Week
After averaging 18.0 points and 3.7 rebounds in three games last week, Danielle Cleary ’18 was named the Empire 8 Conference Rookie of the Week. This accolade marks her seventh of the season, the most of any Empire 8 Conference player in the last five years; records are not available prior to the 2009-10 season.
Shooting Woes
The Soaring Eagles made just 26.1 percent of their shots from the floor against the Hawks. This is the third lowest field-goal percentage of the season for the EC women. In the past 11 games, the Purple and Gold have shot above 30.0 percent just five times. However, in those five games, the EC women have gone 4-1.
