Last Time Out
The Soaring Eagles picked-up a weekend sweep of Empire 8 Conference opponents, defeating Utica College, 75-64, on Friday before taking care of Houghton College, 72-58, Saturday afternoon. Oladapo Badmos ’17 paced EC on Friday with 18 points against the Pioneers and then Neil Randolph ’15 led the way with 20 points the following day against the Highlanders.
Randolph Coming Around
Injuries forced Neil Randolph ’15 to come off the bench in EC’s first four Empire 8 Conference games of the season, but the rest seems to have paid off as Randolph looked like he was back to normal last weekend, averaging 17.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game against Utica and Houghton. Randolph’s jumper was working as he hit five three-pointers in the two games, but a more promising sign was his ability to get to the free throw line. He earned a combined 15 attempts and knocked down 14 from the charity stripe.
Borelli’s Huge Weekend
With Coach Torgalski looking to shake things up following last Tuesday’s defeat at Alfred University, newcomer Ryan Chocek ’18 was inserted into the starting lineup of both Utica and Houghton games while David Borelli ’15 started on the bench. Borelli embraced his reserve role and responded with his best games of the season, scoring double-digits against both the Pioneers and the Highlanders. In addition, he recorded his first double-double of the season and his first since November 17, 2013. For the weekend, Borelli averaged 11.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.0 blocks, and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 78.6 percent, 11-of-14, from the floor.
