CHAIRMANS UPDATE—MARTIN’S MUTTERINGS MARTIN ELCOX Welcome to Fox Lane, the home of Eversley & California FC and to this mid-week fixture in the Combined Counties League Division One. This evening’s visitors are Goldaming Town FC and I would like to extend our welcome to the players and staff and everyone connected with their club.

This is now becoming a really busy period for us as a club, with this being the second of three games being played in seven days, Saturday saw us away at Chessington & Hook, this evening as mentioned, we entertain Godalming and this Friday we host our visitors from Jersey, in another game to be played under our lights. Games under floodlights always have a unique atmosphere of their own, not that I have ever really been able to explain why, but they always have, at whatever level you play or watch your football!!

So, we have a lot to get ready in a really short space of time, and we are indebted to the small team of close-knit volunteers who make everything happen in preparation for any fixture. We now have our pitch-side café open for business, which finally allows us to offer hot food and beverages to our spectators and we have just launched our fledgling On-Line Ticket Sales service, which hopefully will make things easier for spectators arriving at the ground, especially in our new COVID governed and socially distanced world. The more we add, the more resource we need, so please do let us know if you would like to get involved.

We are about halfway through a period of infrastructure works on the ground, and for those of you attending the game in person, rather than reading this programme on-line, I am sure you will have noticed the new artwork and signage that one of our Ladies players Natasha Elcox has installed, which really adds to the atmosphere and experience we are trying to create here at Fox Lane.

Let me finish with an important reminder, if you are at today’s game, please maintain your ‘Social Distancing’ and follow the guidelines and measures that we have had to put in place to adhere to the Rules and Regulations dictated to us by the FA and the UK Government. It would be a great shame if we cannot continue to host spectators, if the rules put in place for our own safety are ignored.

OUR CLUB HISTORY Eversley FC was originally formed in 1910, but returned to play in Eversley Village in 2008. Eversley FC were a founder member of the Surrey Elite Intermediate League, with the Boars becoming Champions in Season 2008-9 (on goal difference). The following season Eversley joined the Combined Counties League in Division One finishing mid tab in their first season

California Youth Football Club was formed in 1975 when a group of parents brought together an Under 8’s team based in the California area of Wokingham, Berkshire and from where the Club takes its name. The Club has grown, expanding to become one of the largest youth football clubs in the area and is now providing foundation and youth football for all age groups. In 2000 first Berks & Bucks FA affiliated club in the area to be awarded the FA Charter status, also winning the South of England FA Charter Merit Award in 2002; it is currently an FA Charter Development Club. California FC introduced girls’ soccer to the area in 2000. California Youth FC established strong links with Eversley FC with the 2 clubs merged in 2012 to form Eversley & California Football Club moving to the Boars Den, where we play our games today. The club is now providing football coaching and matches for all abilities and the Junior Section runs an annual tournament supported by teams from far afield, soccer schools for children aged 5 and under and runs holiday soccer camps.

Playing in the CCL in recent seasons, the 2012/13 season saw the Boars finish in second place, but due to ground grading requirements were prevented from moving up to the CCL Premier Division and since then have consistently finished in the top half of the division, only missing out on promotion by a narrow margin in 2015/15 and 2016/17 seasons.

A new Exec Committee was appointed in 2017, and the period since has seen the adult section of the club grow, with the introduction for the 2017/18 season of a Reserves/ Development side, playing in the highly rated Suburban League in 2017/2018. This has allowed us to implement a defined Player Development Pathway by creating a training program and squad structure that allows the youth team players from the Junior Section under 16’s and upwards, to train together with Development and First Team players enabling a consistent style of coaching and play throughout the club. The benefit of this is huge and has seen players who have been with the club since they were 6 going on to play regular first team football. 2017/18 saw the first Ladies side at Eversley, playing in the Thames Valley Counties Women’s Football League Division One, finishing 4th in their first season, a great achievement. The Ladies have continued their quest for success and in the curtailed 19/20 season they reached the Hampshire County Intermediate Cup Final, with every chance of lifting their first piece of silverware. 2019/20 also the introduction of Veteran’s Football, with many of the team who secured promotion to the Combined Counties League in 2009 returning to the club to play their football, albeit at a slower pace!

The extended ground improvements, which have been completed in the last 3 years, have given us the required ground grading to allow our First Team to be invited to enter the FA Cup for the 2017-18 season, for the first time in the club’s history. Unfortunately falling at the first hurdle and going out at our first attempt. These early years being at a club that prided itself on a philosophy of promoting young local youth, combined with a local coach Andrew Wizichowski (aka Wishy) as he’s known who got me into coaching certainly helped cement my own Coaching Philosophy and beliefs that developing players and creating a pathway were the way forward if you long term sustainable success.

As a result, I began my coaching journey on what then was the FA Prelim award. I’ve since gone on to coach

It’s an important time for us with three league matches in seven days. That started badly on Saturday with a disappointing performance against Chessington. We were simply not at the races in terms of application and desire and rightfully lost the game.

There is the chance to put that right this evening as we welcome Godalming who sit one place above of us in the table. I’m sure it will be a tough match but a good performance and win tonight will go a long way to putting our mixed start to the season back on track. I can tell you now we as a squad are hungry to put things right after the weekend and fully believe we can do so.

A quick mention for Ruggs who manages tonight’s opponents and spent some time as coach with us last season. It was a pleasure working with him during his short time at Eversley, he really had a positive impact and it will be good to see him tonight.

We take one game at a time and can’t afford to overlook Godalming, but know that a positive outcome tonight will make a huge difference to our preparation and confidence going into Friday night’s tough test against Jersey. This adds extra importance and motivation for us this evening so expect a good match.

DEVELOPMENT TEAM ‘100%’ So after no game last weekend the squad went on a team bonding day out for a bit of fun and relaxation in preparation for the visit of Horley Town on Saturday who had started the season with a Win and a loss from their opening two games. The team spirit in this Boars side is something remarkable and the fight and desire they show for one another is Impeccable and that was on show right from kick off as they turned in their best performance of the season with an empathic 5-0 win. Right from the 1st minute they controlled the game and never let Horley have a sniff, The first goal came on 15th mins and the relentless pressing of Kenny Evans win him the ball, he burst down the right hand side and bent a wonderful ball around the defender into the path of Reece Buckett who nutmegged the keeper.

Virtually straight from kick off the boars high press forced Horley to go long, Waters mopped up the ball and threaded it through to Jordan and he rounded the keeper for 2-0. That’s how it stayed till half time although we should’ve had 1 or 2 more. The

half time message was clear, raise through the gears and be relentless and that’s what the lads did within the first 3 mins of the 2nd half it was 3-0, the impeccable Jordan Cox won the ball and feed Wright who danced his way into the box and got fouled from behind, Aspell stepped up and calmly slotted home. The 4th goal was a thing of beauty and easily the goal of the game, the marauding Harry Taylor won the ball deep in his own half and switched the play out to Wright who set Chowdhary who swazzed an outside of the boot half volley over to Jordan on the other flank he set Taylor who had continued his run and he stroked one first time over the keeper from 25yards. The last goal of the game came when Jordan played a short corner to to Wright, he feed Chowdhary who cut inside one man, beat another before smashing the ball into the far corner. The streaming service continues to go from strength to strength, channelling resources into unique content creation to try to win the digital media war against organisations such as Sky and Amazon.

Blockbuster turned them down. Ten years later and the traditional bricks and mortar model offered by Blockbuster was in bankruptcy, with debts of over $900 million. Netflix has gone from strength to strength in the last few years. They can now boast over 110 million global subscribers, a market-domination of the streaming market in the United States and one of the major contributors for the need to improve size and speed of data networks of consumers. They will spend upwards of $8 billion on content creation in 2018 as they look to snatch audiences away from the traditional networks. Hit shows developed by the Netflix studios include Orange is the New Black, Stranger Things, The Crown and Ozark. But are they about to move into a completely new direction? Whilst the company has been one of the key factors in a drop by more than 12% in traditional TV viewing, according to a report by Nielsen. In the UK alone, Ofcom released viewing figures that showed daily TV watching had dropped by 4%, yet in the same time the revenues of the major streaming companies including Netflix as well as Amazon Instant and Hulu had increased by 41%. We want to consume our digital content when and where we want, and all major TV channels have realised that you cannot beat them and have to join them, and are adding ways to watch content online or on-demand (or both). The use of BBC iPlayer is a classic example, which is now seen as the best way to block out the pain of the daily commute. But could we about to see a change in focus of their future strategy?

The 2019-2022 English Premier League (EPL) broadcasting rights have been decided and there was some surprise that none of the new media firms such as the FAMGA (Facebook, Amazon, Microsoft, Google and Apple) initially dipped their toe in the water. Then, it was announced that one small set of rights had indeed been awarded to Amazon, who would stream two rounds of games during the Premier League season, in December. Of course, due to the TV archaic blackout period, they can only show games not being played at 3pm on a Saturday hence why they are going for the midweek round of games in December and Boxing Day. But it is highly likely that in two years time when the bidders rev their engines the likes of Social Media networks and Streaming services such as NetFlix will be in the mix. With billions of active users, it seems a no-brainer that Facebook for instance will be interest in bidding. Their business model is currently based on advertising dollars, but the ownership of such valuable digital rights would enable them to go into the subscription services model. They would have looked on with interest in 2016 as Twitter broadcast 10 live American Football matches on a Thursday night, the rights to which were snapped up by Amazon for their Prime members in 2017 in a similar move to their Premier League agreement. The last EPL deal for UK broadcast rights alone was worth $6.8 billion so the investment certainly isn’t one for the feign-hearted but the rewards with an average audience per game in the UK at over 800,000 (according to Sky the main broadcaster). For Netflix, with a fast-growing global subscriber base, they have the technological platform in place to distribute the content and would also be able to use their rights to further promote their services through media placement at the televised games. Our expectations in accessing media, especially in a digital format, have matured significantly in the past few years.

The dark days of dial-up Internet connections have been replaced by 4G networks and super-fast gigabit broadband. We can now watch events live from around the world on devices that are smaller than the remote controls (on wires if your memory goes that far back!) of those old video machines. For a fan of the EPL, being able to access content on a

variety of devices for a small monthly fee becomes very beneficial. There is also another major benefit to the digital landscape that Netflix, and some of the other services such as Amazon Prime, delivers and that is the contribution to the war on digital piracy. In a report from the University of Oslo, research showed that the piracy of movies and TV shows had reduced by around 50% in 2012 alone, from 125 million estimated illegal movie downloads to 65 million by the end of the year. “When you have a good legitimate offer, the people will use it,” said Olav Torvund, former law professor at the University of Oslo.

There are no guarantees in quality when you try and watch content illegally online, nor do you know what else you are downloading as well as the pirated media files. With low monthly subscription fees, and libraries of tens of thousands of titles, consumers are wising up that legitimate paid good quality content wins hands down over free poor-quality downloads.

The Federation against Copyright Theft (Fact) works with law enforcement agencies to prosecute piracy but also works to educate the public on the consequences of copyright infringement. "One message that is key is that, whether you're pirating physical copy or streaming, you are putting money into the hands of a criminal," says Kieron Sharp, director general of Fact. “Many pirates who produce counterfeit DVDs on a large scale can be traced to organised crime rings,”, says Sharp, “who then reinvest that money in other strands of criminal activity, such as prostitution, drugs and dog-fighting. Our view is that most of these people [who stream illegally] are film and TV fans and we want them on our side, not on the side of criminals, who will profit from their consumption."

Should Netflix, or more digital streaming companies, decide to bid for the EPL rights next time around then it would potentially reduce the instances of illegal streaming of games that is still a major issue for content providers. In addition, with the users of on-demand services getting younger and younger, there is an opportunity to begin the education process when consumers are at the most impressionable age that digital piracy is wrong, and that there is no value in something that is free.

‘Photographic genre—Landscapes’ So, it’s time to take a look at some of the other photography genre’s.

There are many Varieties of photography styles, for instance, Wildlife, Landscapes, Portraiture, Fashion, Product, Architecture, Sport, Astrological, Street/Urban and Forensic, to name but a few.

Although Sport Photography is my favourite pass time. I also enjoy taking images in some of the broader disciplines. I have 3 portfolios Sport, Events and General.

Sport is very selfexplanatory and cover many different sports.

Football obviously, but also Golf and Cricket.

Each sport giving me the opportunity to use all of the technical and techniques that I possess.

The Events portfolio covers, Weddings, Birthdays and Charity events. I like the variety you get in this category.

People, Animals and Children. All give me a challenge in a body of work.

Then there is General, This has a myriad of elements architecture,

Seascapes, unusual places, sunrise and sunset, plus wildlife, dogs and people in the street.

Landscape photography is it’s own genre. It encapsulates all of the elements in my three categories I particularly like taking pictures of landscapes.

The great thing about this genre is you have no preconceptions of what you might see walking the countryside or at historic venues.

Images Arundel castle. This image was taken in the spring at the Tulip festival at the castle 60K tulips! Shot as it reminded me of the poppy installation that was at the tower of London.

Image 2 Is a picture of the Cardiff Opera house on Cardiff bay. I loved the the structures and the light on the copper exterior.

Image 3 is Hasting old town. An Image of East hill through the slats of a fence, across the valley from west hill. Just tried to get a different shot.

THE FA CUP ROAD TO WEMBLEY FOR COMBINED COUNTIES FOOTBALL LEAGUE CLUBS

‘Good luck Deano’

In total 23 of our 40 Combined Counties Football League Clubs took to the field for the opening FA Cup Extra Preliminary round of the 2020/21 season. Sadly we lost 10 clubs at the first hurdle, a further 9 at the next in the Preliminary Round which left us with only 4 namely Sutton Common Rovers, Frimley Green, Southall and Cobham flying the flag in the 1st Qualifying Round with the dream of a big tie if they were in the hat for the 2nd Qualifying round when the Step 2 National North & South sides enter the competition.

Frimley Green were 1 -0 up in front of a bumper crowd of 300 reportedly, with 16 minutes to play and the chance of a Cup upset, however a Devontae Romeo equalizer in the 74th minute eventually meant the dreaded penalty shoot out from which Marlow were able to advance victorious 4-1 to set up a tie against Bracknell Town.

Cobham, also at home hosted Risborough Rangers and on paper at least they were potentially the favourites with Risborough Rangers being a Step 6 Club. However, it doesn’t always work out like that and in front of a covid-restricted-sell out crowd the hammers crashed out 3-1 with the victors now facing a plum tie away at Step 4 Club Chichester City.

Next was Southall, sitting 5th in the Premier Division a lot of the CCFL hopes would have been on Southall but it wasn’t to be as they fell behind 3-0 early into the first half which essentially killed their hopes. That said with the opposition GK being sent off and Southall pulling one back before HT the comeback was on.

When they got their second and then were awarded a penalty in the final 15 minutes their FA Cup dreams were ignited once again. But, it wasn’t to be. The penalty was missed and the score line didn’t change which meant Chatham advanced to face an away trip to Isthmian side Folkestone Invicta.

Last but by no means least was Sutton Common Rovers.

They had a huge task ahead of them in the shape of the Metropolitan Police. By all accounts it was a tight first half that ended 0-0, albeit the higher opposition were the better side. And despite a good showing by SCR throughout the Mets superior quality told in the end as they ran out 3-1 winners to move into the next round to face Walton Casuals for a Local Derby.

However, for us at Eversley & California we still have a team to follow in the FA Cup. Our friend and Goalkeeper coach last season Dean Hurlow is now the GK with the Met Police Football Club after getting a deserved move up the pyramid in the summer. Congrats Dean, we’ll be watching with interest and hope you and the Met can go further in the FA Cup.

Opened in 1920 it used to be a three-sided ground due to Cricket at the far end of the ground. The Cricket ground was relocated in the late 1990's and it was also around this time the pitch was shifted southwards and with a sale of some land the large complex you

see in the pictures was built between 2004 and 2005.

The building houses the clubhouse, changing rooms and a gym whilst courtesy of a large overhang the club have a decent of course as we all know got curtailed.

MEET TODAY’S OPPOSITION

GODALMING TOWN The Gee’s like ourselves spent last season trapped in a relegation battle at the foot of the table. A battle that neither was able to claim victory from when a sudden ceasefire to events ended the campaign.

We were certainly on the up, having moved out of the bottom two and in the best form at the time out of the 5 clubs at the wrong end of the table, but still not guaranteed of safety from relegation and Step 7 football which would have been a disaster for any club with the loss of revenue and players.

Godalming Town FC, an historically big Non-League Club and playing Step 4 football only a few seasons ago were certainly on the brink of falling through the trap door. It’s something you don’t want to think about but it was getting extremely close to the point of It being a reality. Thankfully though for both, indeed all clubs the abandonment of the season meant luck had fallen on their side and a reprieve was given in the form of a null and void season.

That meant Godalming Town Manager Phil Ruggles, who was with the Boars as Matt’s Assistant Manager until early in the year would get the opportunity to start a fresh rather than have to continue to try and stave off relegation from the moment he walked through the door at the Bill Kyte Stadium.

Ruggles appears to have built a competitive team for sure. They say the table doesn’t lie and sitting 15th with 1 win, 2 draws and loss from the outside you may think it’s a patchy start. In terms of results maybe. But when you look deeper the results take on more meaning and give you a sense that this Godalming side are going to be a different proposition from last year. A 1-1 opening day draw with 6th placed Tooting Bec, followed by a win vs 3rd place Chessington & Hook,

a narrow defeat at the hands of 4th placed Farnham Town and a cruel late late goal conceded away at table toppers Westisde meant they lost 1-0. Plus another draw at the weekend vs top 10 side British Airways. You then realise that they are able to compete with the best in the league at this juncture of the season and gain positive results.

So tonight is sure to be a tough test for the boars, however, we’ve been in good form at home with a draw vs Deportivo (conceding with the last kick of the game) and totaling dominating perennial top side Bedfont & Feltham in a 3-1 win.

Then , this time last week in a Friendly the guys put in a very decent performance against a solid Sheerwater side to come away with a draw.

Going back to the Westside game. I took the opportunity to go watch the game, note pad in hand with one eye on this fixture firmly in mind.

It was a very even game I have to say with limited, albeit an even amount of chances for both sides over the course of the game. The gee’s certainly have some threats in key areas, but the scouting opportunity was worth the short trip up the A3 as it’s given us a better insight into what to expect tonight.

OPPOSITION CLUB HISTORY 2012/13 saw Jon Underwood and Neil Baker guide Godalming to their highest ever finish in the pyramid, finishing in 3rd place. The G’s lost in the playoff semifinal for the second year running, this time losing 2-1 to Biggleswade at Wey Court. The season finished on a high however, as Godalming lifted the Surrey Senior Cup for the second time in four years, beating Sutton United 1-0 at Gander Green Lane, thanks to a last minute goal from Scott Harris. The close season saw Godalming moved to a third different league in as many years, this time to the South & West Division.

With divisional change came a managerial change; Jon Underwood and Neil Baker left Godalming to join Slough Town, taking the majority of the squad with them. Andy Hunt was appointed manager in June 2013, assisted by Neil Selby.

The Ladies teams and Youth teams fared much better.

The ladies building on their success of the season before created a second team. Both teams performed well in their respective leagues with the Ladies Development finishing third and the Ladies finishing runners up and gained promotion for the second season in a row. They also reached the final of the J. Greenacre memorial Cup finishing runners up to Ashford (Middx) Town. The youth team had a disrupted fixture list particularly badly affected by the late winter weather which meant a backlog of games at the end of an extended season. Despite this the team finished runners up in the Surrey Primary 2013/14 was probably one of the hardest seasons the club has dealt with. Andy Hunt was given the task League. On a sad note the season saw the passing of Bill Kyte the Godalming Town president. Bill had of putting together a squad that will compete in the league and secure step four football. At Christmas worked tirelessly for the club for many years and will 2013 the clubhouse, kitchen and changing rooms be sadly missed by all that new him. As a tribute to were ruined by flood water. Godalming finished the his memory the ground has been renamed The Bill season in 18th position. Godalming were then moved Kyte Stadium into another division again and will play in Southern League Central Division for the 2014/15 season.

The MACRON SOUTHERN COMBINATION FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Brief History of the Southern Combination Football League The Macron Southern Combination Football League is a football league broadly covering the counties of East Sussex, West Sussex and southeastern Surrey, England. The league consists of eight divisions – three for first teams (Premier Division, Division One and Division Two), two for Under 23 teams (East Division and West Division) and three for Under 18 teams (East Division, Central Division and West Division).

Formed in 1920 as the Sussex County Football League, started with just one league with 12 teams. By the end of the 1929–30 season, six of the original twelve teams remained, having played in every campaign since the competition began. The league saw regular changes in members between 1921 and 1928 and saw 23 different clubs taking part. The league closed during the Second World War and the league ran two competition sections in the 1945–46 season, an Eastern division with eight teams and a Western division with 9 teams. The winners of each competition played in a play-off for a champion. A normal single league practice resumed in 1946 with 14 clubs now playing.

A new division was created in 1952 when Division Two was instituted. Division One remained with 14 teams and Division Two with 12 teams. By 1958 the two leagues had 16 teams each. The 1962–63 season was abandoned due to the atrocious weather conditions, with some clubs playing over 20 games and others with only 13 or 14 games played, an emergency competition was played in a group stage style format with knock-out stages to the final. The 1970s saw the league membership decline.

In 1983 a third division was added for intermediate level teams looking for an easy entry into the football league pyramid system, also a 3 points for a win system was introduced.

Divisions One and Two keeping with 16 teams each, Division Three started with 13 teams, increasing to 15 two seasons later. Some long term clubs experienced harder times and dropped into Division Two. A "Two Up Two Down" system of promotion and relegation was applied throughout the period but occasionally affected with departures from the league itself. Division One increased to 18 teams for the 1988–89 season and 20 teams for the 1993–94 season, along with Division One increasing to 18 teams in the same season. Division Three increased to 16 teams in 2000. The league changed its name to the Southern Combination Football League for the start of the 2015–16 season, keeping the acronym SCFL also attracting teams just across the Sussex border in the event of the FA moving teams across leagues. Also at the same time renamed the divisions to Premier Division, Division One and Division Two. Division Two still keeping its intermediate status. Also, for the 2015–16 season the league added two U21s divisions, one in the East, and one in the West, these two leagues consisting of 7 teams each, which lasted until the end of the 2017–18 season and replaced by two Under–23 divisions (East and West), and three Under–18 divisions (East, Central and West)

TAKING YOU AROUND STEP 6 FOOTBALL ‘PART 3:

The MACRON SOUTHERN COMBINATION FOOTBALL LEAGUE

A second abandonment was during the 2019–20 season when the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID19) pandemic halted all sporting events nationwide, an agreement between the leagues and the Football Association decided to end the season early and expunge all results, including no promotion or relegation between the leagues.

DIVISION 1 STANDINGS SO FAR IN THE 2020-21 SEASON LOOK

The first team divisions – Premier, One and Two, sit at Steps 5, 6 and 7 of the English football league system, below the lower divisions of the Isthmian League and the Southern League. The reserve divisions are not part of the league system.

In the past, Unijet, Rich City and Matthew Clark sponsored the Sussex County Football League. But between 2004 and 2014 the league was without a sponsor. Macron Store (Hastings) signed a 4-year deal beginning 2014/15 season resulting in the official name being changed to "The Macron Sussex County League" and then to current "The Macron Southern Combination Football League". As of 2020 Macron Store still continue to sponsor the league.

DIVISION 1 CHAMPIONS

It’s only 4 games in I know, but with a 100% winning start and seemingly finding the net with ease scoring 23 in 4 games which includes a 6-1 away win on the opening day Vs Hailsham Town, followed by another 6-1 win at home to Midhurst & Easebourne, then hitting 6 with no reply against Worthing United and just the 5 in a 5-1 win Vs Oakwood last time out the signs for the rest of the division are ominous.

That said, Mile Oak and AFC Vardenians who were both challenging last season for the title are up there again so they’ll have something to say I’m sure.

Factor in Bexhill United’s equally impressive start, who were 5th pre-pandemic then the Macron Southern Combination Football League Division 1 title race is set to be an exciting one.

THE FA VASE ROAD TO WEMBLEY FOR COMBINED COUNTIES FOOTBALL LEAGUE CLUBS

‘TWO LITTLE DUCKS...22’ A grand total of 551 teams will compete in the two qualifying rounds of the 2020/21 Buildbase FA Vase. Once these two hurdles are negotiated you are into the 1st Round Proper comprising of 256 clubs which includes a number of teams who are exempt from the qualifying stage due to their progress in the competition the previous year, whether they finished In the top 4 of their Step 5 Division and for those who were relegated from Step 4 and therefore won’t be competing in the FA Trophy.

As for the combined counties clubs we had a total of 30 clubs battling it out in the 1st Qualifying Round which took place over the weekend of 19th September (which included 4 ALL Combined Counties Teams Ties) plus Ash Utd, Jersey Bulls, Fleet Spurs, Tooting Bec and Sandhurst Town who will now join the winners having received ‘bye’s into the 2nd Qualifying round.

With 17 of the 30 progressing the CCFL will have 22 teams represented in the 2nd Qualifying round which includes 3 all CCFL ties, namely Abbey Rangers Vs Guildford City who have already played in the league, Abbey coming out on top 20 away and likewise Redhill and Raynes Park Vale have also played in the League with RPV also coming out on top 2-0 away. The other all CCFL tie sees Premier Division early title challengers Hanworth Villa who sit 3rd host Division 1 side FC Deportivo Galicia.

Our local rivals Sandhurst Town, now under New Management face our conquerors Long Crendon and they have seen an upward turn in results and I suspect that they will progress over a side we were more than capable of beating, albeit on the day in question we didn’t deserve too. Jersey Bulls, still with their 100% winning streak since Redhill won 3-1 on pens forming in tacked (at the time of writing) travel Shaftesbury 0-4 Badshot Lea away to mid-table Billingshurst from the SouthSheerwater 2-1 Sporting Club Thamesmead ern Combination Football League Division 1 so Shrivenham 1-0 Camberley will fancy their chances of progressing I’m sure Town and Walton & Hersham didn’t disappoint the Spelthorne Sports 2-4 bookmakers and are also through. So in total we Arlesey Town have 10 Division 1 clubs battling it out to make Stansfield 2-2 Knaphill the 1st Round proper plus 12 from the Premier Stansfield won 7-6 on pens Division.
