Stella Maris means Our Lady, Star of the Sea which is an ancient title for the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Stella Maris Society honours the founders of Star of the Sea College whose priority it was to provide a high-quality education to all young people.

Established in 1883, our distinguished history, and our core Catholic values, provide the foundation for an excellent contemporary education that allows our students to flourish.

Star of the Sea College educates young people spiritually, academically, physically and creatively in the Presentation tradition. We strive to empower young people to engage in critical reflection, leading to positive action for our world.

The Stella Maris Society was established in 2024. The Society welcomes and recognises all who wish to make a provision in their WILL to Star of the Sea College to ensure the College continues to make a difference in the lives of future students.

By providing the gift of education, you too can honour our founders in helping to make a difference beyond your lifetime.

How do I make a bequest in my Will?

If you already have a WILL, you may simply add a codicil to include Star of the Sea College. You may wish to direct your gift

• As an unrestricted gift

• To financial needs-based bursary

• To buildings.

The choice is

After you have made provisions for your family and loved ones, a portion of your estate can be directed to an area of your choice within the College and can take a number of forms:

• A residual of an estate

• A percentage of an estate

• A specific sum

• Gift in kind.

We respect the wishes of our donors and encourage those making bequests to designate which areas of the College they wish to leave a lasting legacy. We encourage you to seek independent legal and financial advice when preparing or updating your Will. The bequest needs to be clear and reflect your wishes but should also be flexible enough to accommodate potential changes in education.

• It is important that you discuss your WILL with your family and ensure that they understand and support your wishes.

• The correct wording for including the College in your WILL is: Star of the Sea College.
