A MESSAGE FROM KARL MURCH,

Chair of the Board of Trustees

2020 slowed the world down in a lot of ways, but the pandemic couldn’t stop ECCF from breaking records in 2021. Our total assets have reached over $37 million, and so far this year we’ve received ¬$2.7 million in donations. So far in 2021, 14 new individual and family Funds have been opened. These Funds collectively received over $900,000 in assets and have brought ECCF’s active fund count to 267. Our momentum in granting hasn’t stopped either. In addition to more than $178,000 awarded during this year’s Community Grant Cycle, giving from other fund types has allowed ECCF to grant more than $1 million to tax-exempt organizations this year alone. These numbers bring ECCF’s total grant distribution since inception to over $18 million. We’re excited about these accomplishments, but we’re even more excited about two new initiatives in honor of our upcoming 25th anniversary: First, our new online Grant Catalog will support local nonprofits with a new way to receive public donations as well as to become eligible for bonus grants. The second is the Legacy Society Initiative, which sets the goal of recruiting 25 new Legacy Society members over the coming year. You can become a member by providing for ECCF in your will or estate plan. Your Legacy will ensure the future, but your charitable impact can begin today! (Read on for more information about these two new initiatives.) None of this would be possible without the dedication and expertise of our Board of Trustees. It is my pleasure to welcome three new Board members: Dr. Jason Beckermann, Cody Filipczak, and Dr. Julia Kyle. I look forward to working with them as they bring their talents and insight to the table. I would also like to extend a sincere thank you to outgoing trustees Dr. Phil Happe, R. Tom Toy, and Laura Talley, Past Chair. It has truly been a pleasure to see the passion that these three have brought in their service to our community. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as Board Chair of ECCF for the past two years. As my term ends, I would like to thank you all for your continued support. With gratitude,

FUND SPOTLIGHT Gene and Judy LaFave Family Fund Judy LaFave established this Unrestricted Fund because she wanted to give back to the community that her family loves. Unrestricted Funds like this one help meet Eau Claire’s ever-changing needs by supporting grant recommendations made through ECCF’s annual Community Grant Cycle. The LaFaves’ legacy of generosity will benefit local nonprofits for generations to come.
