FUN FACTS ABOUT CDs AND DVDs Not many of us CDs and DVDs anymore. However, these used to be the only medium of transferring and storing multimedia and data a few years back. There are still some DVD makers and DVD production places which supply and sell CDs and DVDs for various purposes and many businesses also use them as a tool for promoting, selling and advertising their products and services. However, not many of us know the journey of these devices. So let’s have a look at some fun facts: 1. The first commercially-available compact disc was released by Sony in 1986 on 1st October. 2. Remember those portable Discmans we all loved? The first of its kind portable CD player was the Sony Discman (yes, Sony again!!) which was introduced in 1984. 3. Can you imagine your car without a music system? We owe that to Mercedes-Benz as it was the first automobile company that offered a CD player as a factory option. 4.
