Fed. Govt giving $1.2m. to St Brendan's
ST BRENDAN'S College will be building a new dormitory worth $1.6 million to replace the existing Year 8 building. Member for Capricornia Keith Wright said this week St Brendan's College would receive a special Federal Government grant of $1,237,000 as part of Prime Minister Paul Keating's One Nation initiative. St Brendan's will have to find the other $400,0(X). Principal Br Dan McMahon said this week the college was going to build a new Year 8 dormitory complex to replace the present one. It vill be converted into an infirmary. The new building will house 92 students and incorporate a four bedroom unit for a house master and family with other units for single staff. "It's quite a big project and will bring us up to scratch with the best. It is long overdue," Br Dan said. "This is only stage one of at least a two-part project. "We will be submitting another application next year for further grants." Mr Wright said the grant was one of two such projects. "In late 1991 I visited St Brendan's College to discuss the school's building needs," he said. "At the request of the then principal Br Langan. a submission was prepared to the Federal Government seeking funding for a new dormitory and the upgrading of existing facilities. "The issue was pursued this year with Br Dan and a special request was made to the Prime Minister during his visit to Rockhampton in July." Mr Wright said he was pleased the college had received the grant because "there was a growing need to ensure the facilities there kept up with the high reputation of the college". He said the funding would also give a further economic boost to the Capricorn Coast area and would create a number of jobs in the building industry.

24HR BREAKDOWN SERVICE & MECHANICAL REPAIRS
• By Rhett Watson SOMEONE said it with a fist instead of flowers at Tanby Roses late Wednesday night when the front window was punched in. The blow caused damage worth about $700 and part-owner Paul McPyke spent about 30 minutes cleaning up. About one hour later a 19 year-old man from Tungamull was arrested and charged with wilful and unlawful destruction. Police said the man had only minor injuries. The hole in the shop window was about 35cm in diameter with another hole much larger, probably a piece which fell out. Tanby Roses part-owner Harry Holland received a call at his home in Bondoola from Pizza Pizzazz owner Mike McCallum at 8pm giving him the news. Mr Holland phoned his son, Paul McPyke, who was first on the scene. "It took me about 30 minutes to clean the mess," he said. "The glass had broken into pieces of about six centimetres and spread within a three-metre radius of the window." Police had already picked-up a suspect by the time Mr Holland arrived. He and Mr Pyke then sat at the front waiting for glaziers from Yeppoon Glass to block-off the window. Mr Holland said they were lucky police were on the scene so quickly and thanked them for their efforts.

BAHA'U'LLAH
Who is this person who claimed in the 19th century to bring a new revelation from God? Baha'u'llah introduces the life and teachings of the prophetic figurewhose growing influence in the world is the most remarkable development of contemporary history. The pivot of Baha'u'llah's teachings is the principle of the oneness of humanity. His challenge is that the human race has been called by God to undertake a transformation of its moral, social and spiritual life. He has offered a system for a new world order based on that principle — a system that he claims holds the only hope for inducing a fundamental and lasting change in the condition of the world. Judge for yourself: Is this the spiritual solution to the world's moral and social problems?
