Appeal crashes through $10,000 THE Information Centre debt has been slashed to a four-figure sum ... six payments from donors this week combined with a $1000 monthly payment by the Capricorn Coast Tourist Organisation took the debt below the $10,000 mark. The debt now stands at $9296.50 ... a long *ay down from the $55,000 that prompted the Capri• corn Coast Mirror Appeal. There have been a few milestones along the way in this appeal that have given heart that, as expected, the CCTO's Information Centre would wind up free of debt. The first was $50,000, followed by the "10s" ... • $40,000, $30,000, $20,000 and now $10,000. Each new milestone brought the centre closer to being clear of debt which will mean the CCTO • can get on with the job of promoting the Capricorn Coast. Once free of debt, the CCTO will be able to

Lotto rainbow strikes Coast! GOLD Lotto came to the Capricorn Coast on Saturday night when a Yeppoon resident shared the S12 million super draw. His share was 5428,571.43 and the ticket was purchased from Ian Graham's Capricorn News. It is the fourth first prize the newsagency has sold since Lotto started in Queensland "We have been lucky, besides the first prizes we have sold some other major Lotto prizes," Mr Graham said. October has been a lucky month for the newsagency with Golden Casket second and third prizes sold as well as the first in Lotto.

look ahead knowing the burden of paying $1000 a month has been lifted forever. Paying that $1000 each month has not been easy ... CCTO members have spoken about the number of things that the month could be used for but, each month, the money has been paid off the loan. Making these monthly payments was part of the agreement the Capricorn Coast Mirror insisted upon when it suggested the public be invited to help pay off the Information Centre. The CCTO readily agreed to the payment condition because it was already committed to making the payment for the next 10 years ... but there were doubts that the public would see the benefit in paying of a centre designed to become the frontline in the battle to increase Capricorn Coast tourism. Now, with less than $10,000 to go, it seems assured the appeal will achieve its objective ... the centre will be free of debt. The hope is thatremaining donations will come in by the middle of next month so that the CCTO does not have to make any more $1000 payments. CCTO executive members have written to donors asking them to complete their commitment as soon as possible. Follow-up personal calls will be made. The Mirror promised all donors they would receive publicity for their effort ... this week, to celebrate the breaking of the $10,000 milestone, that publicity makes the front page! Read the list of names ... these are the people who made the huge debt reduction possible. But, as you read the list, remember the Information Centre came about through CCTO vision combined with a huge number of donations of labour, materials and cash ... the full list of names is published on an honour board above the front door.
