STARTING POINT Newsletter Number 20 Happy Birthday!

Starting point celebrated its 5th year in style on the 28th of February 2013.

The Champagne and canapĂŠ reunion event was a great success with over 40 groups from the past and the present partying the night away.

We would like to thank everyone who came along to share our special night with us, with special thanks to Jacqueline Otite, Rueben Ferreira & Farzana Atchia for their contributions to the event.

Winners All groups that took part in our Customer satisfaction survey back in January were entered into a prize draw to win a ÂŁ50 voucher. The lucky winners were Equinox House Residents Association, who have been a group at Starting Point for more than three years.

New training Programme Our new training programme with go live on Eventbrite on 1st April 2013. Starting Point have been listening to group feedback over the last few months and we are confident that our new programme will include a variety of sessions to benefit groups working within the voluntary sector. Please ensure you take a look and get booked onto your preferred sessions ASAP as spaces are limited. Eventbrite is a fast and easy way to register yourself onto a training course. You can also communicate with the event organiser and leave feedback .There will be new training and events added regularly throughout the year so please take advantage of this fantastic opportunity to empower yourself with new skills and knowledge!

New Developments One of our aims is to always keep improving and maintaining the facilities at Starting Point. We feel it is our duty to help sustain a professional and proficient environment.

Taking the feedback from our recent customer satisfaction survey into consideration we have decided to make some improvements and changes• Saturday Openings- Starting Point will be piloting Saturday openings from 6th April 10-2pm. This will give groups the opportunity to access hot desks and meeting rooms. • New Equipment- All our computers will be updated this year and we have improved our photocopying facilities and mail sorting area • Improved Meeting Rooms- works will be completed by the end of April to improve meeting rooms and internet connection speed.

Meet a New Group

My name is Stephanie Edughele and I am the Managing Director of Crowned Education. Crowned Education is a charitable educational organisation, established to enable young people to achieve more from education and aim for a brighter future. I have a LLB Law Degree and have completed legal professional qualification: Legal Practice Course at The College of Law in Bloomsbury London to qualify as a Solicitor. I also have a Masters degree in Legal Practice. My passion is young people and providing young people with a positive role model.

Improving and enhancing the future of the young people is at the heart of our organisation. We aim to raise the aspirations of young people and strive to show them and their communities that they have the potential to be successful. We provide them with the support that they need by creating opportunities to develop and learn. We exist to enhance the quality of life for young people and promote community cohesion.

As an educational organisation, we provide gateway for young people into the world of law and the legal profession. Our Law4Fun pilot project is committed to making law accessible for young people by designing workshops to introduce law in everyday situations.

Our Law4Fun Workshops delivers a fun and creative approach to the study of Law and raising career aspirations for young people. Law4Fun is a series of 4 Workshops, each lasting 2 hours.

We are targeting 20 young people currently studying at Secondary School and college.
