The Eastside Catholic STARS Gala Auction is a fun evening out with family, friends and community members where great memories are made. At its core, it is also an opportunity to invest in the future of our students lives by leveraging a great time and your generous philanthropy to support our mission. To put it simply, we are here to help each student become the best version of themselves, the person they were called to be by God.
Today’s students face a more challenging world. While technology can bring us together, the constant distractions of the modern world is also ironically creating more isolation, fear of missing out, and anxiety leading to a rise in mental health challenges for youth across our country.
This year, our Making a Difference initiative is dedicated to the mental health of our students. Amid a nationwide increase in mental health challenges, this initiative will help us provide the programming, counseling, resources and tools our students need to feel loved and secure and know they are enough, as they are created in God’s image. This endowment will create a source of funding that will be evergreen, allowing EC to support our students socially, emotionally and academically now and into the future.
Since the school opened its’ doors in 1980, a culture of generosity, care and concern for others has always been at the core of our identity.
I am grateful you entrust us to shape the next generation of bold, compassionate leaders. We believe strongly in faith-based education and the programs our faculty and staff deliver at Eastside Catholic. Recognizing the profound impact of mental well-being, we have dedicated this year’s Making a Difference initiative to enhancing support for those navigating mental health challenges within our community.

Having worked as a news anchor and reporter for 26 years in some of the country’s largest markets, including Seattle, Boston, Miami and Baltimore, Matt developed an audience engagement style all his own.

Elisha joined the Eastside Catholic staff in 2020 and is the Director of Student Life. Elisha is also an assistant coach for varsity football and flag football. Elisha earned his bachelor’s degree in communications from Central Washington University in 2019. He also played football for five years in college during which time his team won three conference championships.
As member of the Class of 2014, he participated in a range of activities at EC, including ASB leadership, football and choir.
In his spare time, Elisha loves to play his guitar, sing and cook. His favorite part about working at Eastside Catholic School is the people, “because they make everybody feel at home.”

Recognizing the significant impact of mental health and wellness, we’re dedicating this year’s Making a Difference initiative to enhancing support for those facing mental health challenges in our community by establishing a comprehensive endowment.
We are committed to honoring every community member with compassion and understanding.
Our goal this year is to raise $250,000.
This initiative will enable access to expanded resources for mental well-being support at EC in perpetuity. Each year, the funds generated by the endowment will ensure additional opportunities and resources are available for our students, faculty and staff. These resources may include access to cognitive health and emotional well-being experts, professional development or specialized training for our educators, or innovative approaches for our community, such as empowering students to care for their own well-being, therapy animals, mindfulness and meditation practices to help alleviate stress or programs to enhance connectedness among students, faculty and families.

It’s time for dessert!
The Dessert Dash is a fun and delicious way to satisfy your sweet tooth. First, designate a “dasher” to run to the dessert table. Second, pass the Dessert Dash bid sheet around your table. Each person writes their bid number and their bid amount. Volunteers will come to your table to collect your bid sheet and tally up your table’s total bid amount.
The auctioneer will announce when it’s time for dessert. He will call the runner from each table to an area by the dessert table. When your table number is called, your dasher will run to the dessert table as quickly as possible, select a dessert and bring it back to your table.
The banquet staff will deliver plates and utensils to your tables to enjoy your well-earned dessert. Bid high and don’t let your favorite dessert get away. Remember to watch out for those elbows, dashers!
