Letter from the Board

Dear E astside C atholic S chool Community,

E

astside Catholic School is back in session and is full of the signs of school life that are representative of the diversity and strength of EC. We are blessed with an amazing community that is working together to ensure another successful school year.

For the 2016-17 school year, the board of trustees (BOT) focused on three key objectives: STRATEGIC PL AN—After an extensive, open EC community process to gather input, the board approved the school’s five-year strategic plan, setting out seven strategic goals for the community.

The BOT and the school leadership team continue to collaborate on implementing these goals.

PERMANENCE PL ANNING—Through the efforts of the Permanence Subcommittee, the BOT began work on planning the next phase of our campus development to meet the needs of the school with regards to academics, faith, athletics and the arts.

ADVANCEMENT—The Advancement Department expanded alumni programming and created new opportunities for alumni to reconnect with the school through networking events.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, endowment assets grew 144 percent and three

new endowments were established: Wil Vicik STEM Endowment, Pope Francis Endowment for Learning Support Services and the Options Program and the Endowment for Excellence in Athletic Coaching and Leadership.

This year, the BOT continues to support the great traditions of the past, strengthen relationships with the entire EC community and plan for our bright future as we continue the implementation of the Strategic Plan. We look forward to building a robust culture of philanthropy to benefit future generations of Crusaders.
