handgun in Paddocks hotel room that he had been staying in since September 28. He had used guns with long range sights so that he could shoot from a long distance. This act of terrorism is the biggest mass shooting committed by an individual in United States history. His motivations are unknown and the investigation is still underway. President Trump commented on the massacre calling it ?Pure evil."
Insider Staff On October 1, 2017 Jason Aldean was performing on the Las Vegas Strip at the Route 91 Harvest Country Music Festival where there were approximately 22,000 people in attendance. The concert was at an outdoor venue located at the Vegas Village. The concert venues are surrounded by hotels and buildings. While the show was in it's final few songs, bullets began to rain down on the crowd. The shots came from the Mandalay Bay hotel. The shooter was on the 32nd floor of the hotel and broke two windows of his room so he could shoot at the concert goers. Shots began coming at 10:05 PM and continued until roughly 10:15 PM. People first mistook the shots as fireworks that were part of the show. Thousands of rounds were fired into the crowd before the shooting ended. Ultimately, 58 people were killed and 498 people were injured. Of the casualties, 36 were women and 22 were men. Much of the Vegas boulevard was shut down as the SWAT team took over the area. A hotel security guard went to the door of the shooter and was shot by
him but not killed. After the shooter shot the guard no more shots were fired on the concert crowds. The security guard who was shot and injured phoned more security and told them what room the shooter was in. When police finally got to the hotel room they blew open the door with explosives and entered the room. The shooter was found dead by a self-inflicted bullet wound to the head. The room was later inspected and paddocks history was investigated. There were cameras in the room as well as calculations for shooting at the concert. The overwhelming support for victims and the stories of bravery by police officers and attendees shows that good always triumphs evil." Another student who wished to remain anonymous said, ?Its unfortunate for innocent people?s lives to be taken away so quickly from an unforgivable man." The Homecoming theme this year was "Childhood Memories." The previous week before homecoming, there was spirit week at Eastside and the themes were: Pacific Northwest, Pajama Day, Tourist/Disneyland, and on Friday, Freshman wore black, Sophomores wore blue, Juniors wore orange, and Seniors wore white. The stands were packed on Friday night for the Homecoming football game. Before the game fans were treated to food trucks, and live entertainment. EC defeated Seattle Prep by a final of 42-13!
