East London Printmakers Festival of Print 2022

The Festival of Print is an annual print exhibition held at the Art Pavilion in Mile End Park to showcase and celebrate the diverse and exciting contemporary printmaking taking place at East London Printmakers. The 95 artists showing their work include established printmakers as well as, this year, ActionSpace artists who are on an ELP Community Outreach programme of one to one workshops at the studio. The exhibition covers a diversity of techniques including woodblock, screenprint, etching and relief. Some as monoprint, others as editions. The Festival of Print provides an excellent opportunity to see an

interesting exhibition of original prints. For those interested in buying affordable limited edition prints or building a collection, the recently completed 2022 ELP Box Set will be launched along with other highly professional work and all at affordable prices.

Celebrating the work of East London Printmakers

Like so many good beginnings, East London Printmakers started amongst friends who wanted to create an independent, not for profit collective, to promote Artist Printmaker practice. Since then, its facilities and access have been constantly improved and extended so that now, 23 years later, it proves to be a high quality art space that is both international and community focused. This printmaking hub in East London offers exceptional public access studio facilities that are both professional and affordable. These include support for recent graduates and those needing time and space to realise community projects through its artist-in-residence schemes.

The printmaking studio, located alongside Regent’s Canal, provides a dynamic and well managed environment offering a wide range and variety of workshops, artist talks, affordable open access sessions and activities suitable for all levels of experience. East London Printmakers has gained a world-wide reputation offering print techniques including screen printing on fabric and

paper, relief printing from lino, wood and Japanese vinyls, lithography and various different approaches to intaglio, includ ing etching on metal.

ELP CIC is a voluntary organization made up of 47 Keyholders and 250 associates from many different countries and attracts over 1,000 visitors a year from all backgrounds and levels of expertise. Most of all this exciting arts facility is based on the co-operation of its vibrant members and printmakers which is celebrated annually at the Festival of Print.

It is in recognition of its work and the contribution made to both the local and national cultural environment that ELP was able to secure substantial funding from Arts Council England, the National Lottery and the Department for Culture Media and Sport through the Covid Emergency Fund and the Cultural Recovery Fund.

We would like to say a huge thank you for this support through the Covid 19 crisis. It has ensured our survival, our return to financial viability and a secure future.
