We hope these rankings will be a good personal reminder about your engagement, but also encourage a little friendly competition. The member with the highest number of points at the end of the year will be named the Volunteer of the Year AND win a foursome at East Lake! Below are the top 10 volunteer leaders as of 7/1/16. NEWS OF INTEREST

The Drive, Chip & Putt Championship event, held at the Charlie Yates Golf Course on June 20, was a huge success! We are proud that 50 of our junior golfers participated in this local qualifier. 5 of our students, including Solomon Dobbs, Hailey Fischer, and Haven Ward, will advance to the regionals. Thank you to Friends members Mike DeHart and Virginia Hopkins for volunteering at the event. The Drive, Chip & Putt Championship is a free nationwide junior golf development competition. Participants who advance through local, sub-regional and regional qualifying in each age/gender category earn a place in the National Finals, which is conducted at Augusta National Golf Club the Sunday before the Masters Tournament and is broadcast live by Golf Channel.

Stewart Cink to be Inducted into Georgia Golf Hall of Fame The Georgia State Golf Association has announced that East Lake friend and Golf Club member, Stewart Cink, will be inducted into the 2017 class of the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame. Stewart will join a long list of East Lake golfers, members and professionals to have received this prestigious honor at an induction ceremony in January 2017. Congratulations, Stewart!

The mentoring committee will host an etiquette course for 15 high school-aged First Tee participants on Saturday, July 23 at the East Lake Golf Club. Attendees will receive instruction on such topics as conversation, proper place settings, dining, and electronic and written correspondence. Many thanks to the members of the mentoring committee who helped organize what we know will be an invaluable experience for our youth. No volunteers are needed for this session.
