Department Distinctives • Practical experience: Students develop leadership skills and gain real-life experiences through internships, teaching assistantships, and service. • Seminars and workshops: Students critically analyze literature and write creatively in intimate seminars and workshops. • Curriculum offers specialized courses in Global Fiction, Creative Writing, Shakespeare, Writing for Publication, Scottish Literature, Young Adult Literature, and more. • Student opportunities: Students are given the opportunity to write and design the school newspaper, publish in the campus literary journal, and study abroad for semester programs at Oxford, England, and St. Andrews, Scotland. • Local opportunities: Students have the opportunity to attend local theatre productions and poetry readings as well as explore local literary landmarks, such as the Rosenbach Museum to view original manuscripts.
Our Graduates Are Now Working: • As teachers, professors, marketing and web content writers, lecturers, librarians, freelance writers, journalists, and editors. • With organizations such as Comcast, Universal Health Services, and Lehighton Memorial Library. • Toward advanced degrees at institutions such as Villanova University, Temple University, University of Tennessee, Moore College of Art and Design, Seton Hall University, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Northwestern University.
