Asia’s most significant trade fair for the processing, filling and packaging technology industry, this year’s show is the biggest ever, and continues to cater to the needs of Thailand, as well as the rapidly expanding food, drink, pharmaceutical processing and packaging industries, said Mr Chinachoti in his welcome speech. The 2012 edition of ProPak Asia holds extra significance for a variety of reasons. Apart from the introduction of a new section, the show has also reached a 20-year milestone that reaffirms its success. By Sherlyne Yong size last year, this year’s instalment covers over 30,000 sq m across five halls. There are over 1,600 exhibitors from 40 different countries, as well as 12 national pavilions from 10 different countries, including Belgium, China, France, Germany, Japan, Korea, Singapore and the US. This commitment towards continuous development is further exemplified by the introduction of a new section – PrintTech Asia 2012. Supporting this in his welcome address, Mr Sridama said that “this new addition creates a more comprehensive trade show for food, drink and pharmaceutical processing and packaging industries.” At the same time, this will boost the exhibition by transforming it from an international trade show in Thailand to a leading high profile event in this region.

It will combine over 600 million people from 10 ASEAN member nations, and is expected to become an important production base and source of raw materials and labour. Together, the AEC will have a combined GDP of US$1.8 trillion. As such, TCEB has adopted ProPak Asia 2012 as one of its national trade shows in an initiative to enhance the country’s competiveness. It has been part of the ‘Better The Best’ campaign for three consecutive years where leading industry trade shows are selected to become a ‘Champion Show’.
