☐ 1. FILL OUT THE APPLICATION
Applying to Eastern Iowa Community Colleges is easy! Our FREE online or paper application takes just minutes to complete. Visit eicc.edu/apply.
☐ 2. SUBMIT THE FAFSA
FAFSA
You’ll need to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each school year to qualify for aid like grants, scholarships, federal work-study, and federal student loans. Since financial aid paperwork can take up to six weeks to complete, we advise you to begin this process early.
The FAFSA will open in December. If you have questions or need help filling it out, our financial aid staff is here to help. The following dates are Clinton, Muscatine, and Scott Community College’s priority financial aid processing deadlines to meet the tuition due date and be able to charge books in the bookstore:

☐ 3. SEND YOUR TRANSCRIPTS
High School or GED/HiSET Transcripts
Send us your high school or GED/HiSET transcripts showing you have completed your high school diploma or GED/HiSET. We may use your high school or GED/HiSET transcript to qualify you for financial aid, for admission into specific academic programs, or for course placement using your ACT scores.
College Transcripts
If you are planning on transferring in credits from another college or university, please have your official college transcripts sent directly to the Office of Registration and Records. It’s a breeze — just visit eicc.edu/transcriptevaluation and fill out the form. We’ll evaluate your earned credits for use in your degree. Hand-carried transcripts will not be used to award college credit, so be sure to use the online form.
Use of Unofficial Transcripts
We encourage you to bring copies of your unofficial transcripts with you to your first advising appointment. We may use them to help develop an academic plan for you.

☐ 4. ALEKS PLACEMENT REQUIREMENT
Your success is important to us. That’s why all EICC students are required to complete our placement process. This ensures you’re placed in the appropriate classes right from the start. Learn more at eicc.edu/placement.
For English and reading placement you have four options:
1. Submit your high school transcripts OR
2. Submit your ACT scores OR
3. Submit your SAT scores OR
4. Submit your HiSET scores
For math placement there are three options:
1. Submit your ACT scores with a math score of 22 or higher OR
2. Submit your SAT scores OR
3. Complete the ALEKS math placement through the college. Learn more at eicc.edu/aleks.
If you’ve already completed a college level math or English course with a grade C or better, you may be exempt from submitting the corresponding information above. You’re encouraged to speak with an admissions counselor or advisor to discuss options.
☐ 5. SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT TO MEET WITH YOUR ADVISOR
You’ll meet with an academic advisor to discuss academic plans, review placement scores, create a degree plan, and register for your term’s classes. Visit eicc.edu/advising or call the campus nearest you to schedule an appointment.

☐ 6. ATTEND ORIENTATION
All new students are required to attend orientation. During orientation, you receive key information on college resources, take a tour of campus, and discover ways to get involved. Sessions are offered at a variety of times. Visit eicc.edu/orientation and use the online form to register, or call the campus nearest you.

☐ 7. EXPLORE STUDENT LIVING OPTIONS

☐ 8. PAY FOR CLASSES
Tuition and fees are due prior to the start of each semester. To make those payments, you will need to have engaged in the financial aid process, be signed up for a payment plan, or pay for your classes by the tuition due date. No need to worry about missing a payment — we’ll always let you know when tuition is due. Visit our Business Office to discuss your payment plans. Learn more at eicc.edu/paying.
☐ 9. LOG INTO EICCONNECT
EICConnect, the college’s student portal, is your one-stop shop. This is where you’ll access your class schedule, syllabi, and EICC email account. Information on advising, activities, and financial aid can also be found here. Students taking online courses will exclusively use the portal to complete classes. Our advice? Browse the portal before the start of classes. You’ll have it mastered in no time!
☐ 10. PURCHASE TEXTBOOKS AND CLASS MATERIALS
Stop by a campus bookstore to buy your textbooks and other required materials prior to the start of classes. Students receiving financial aid may be able to charge their textbooks to their financial aid package. Contact the college bookstore for information about textbooks.
