Whoever has been saying, ‘Girls don’t like numbers,” discount those girls who actually love numbers. Yes, girls can count and calculate with the best of them, recognize patterns, and strategize for optimal results. Mathematics is simply learning how to measure quantities, how to know when there is more, less, or the same amount. And then, knowing what to do with those results. A trip to the supermarket with Mom, Grandma, or Aunty ready to spend a small budget to purchase only the items needed in the household, is evidence enough. Girls know money. Money is in denominations of dollars. Dollars are numbered. Girls do like numbers.
